The show's pacing is kinda fast, but I like the show. Not too fond of supermodel Barbara, but they gotta sex the show up, I guess. Jada seems miscast and RLT is a gem.

I never really considered that the show would be more of a saga rather than a case/villain/monster-of-the-week type deal, like what we get in most shows based on superhero comics. Which is a smart choice, since the whole point of the show is that there aren't a bunch of supervillains that they can cycle through yet.

I also thought it was interesting how the producers took pains to make the show seem as timeless as possible. Bullock wears a hat, everyone has flip-phones, and no one specifies which war Gordon fought in.

Still wondering how they're gonna make this saga last 5 seasons, but I expect to follow it every step of the way.

I have high hopes for the show. The pilot was a little rough on the edges, but it did a good job in setting up several plot points, and it made me want to watch the other episodes.

Was there any vigilanties in Gotham before Batman?

in some incarnations yes. For instance, you have the reaper in year two. Also, Alan Scott post crisis, used to protect Gotham before Batman did.

that would be quite interesting, and it could hint at a wider universe, without really showing meta abilities.

Like to see them bring in a vigilante to save Bruce from a kidknapping or something. He gets killed in the attempt.

Gordon then tells Bruce that is why there shouldn't be vigilantes as it was the police's job. Bruce say's that the guy caught more bad guys in a month than the police had in a year and the only reason he's dead is because he wasn't good enough.

Synopsis of episode 4 "Arkham."
As a contentious city council vote on the future of the Arkham district approaches, politicians from both sides are in danger. Gordon and Bullock must race to protect the council and an old friend visits Gordon in the all-new "Arkham" episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Oct. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-104) (TV-14 D, L, S, V)

Sorry, can anyone tell me which characters can appear in this? Obviously Bruce Batmans villains. But could a young Lex Luthor turn up? Or any other heroes?

No. This is about 15 years before Batman. No other heroes exist. Gotham characters only, im sure.

Batman: Made of Wood is an awesome Alan Scott/Batman team up that explores the old days when Scott was Gotham's premier superhero.

Omg. I just realize this would be an amusing opportunity bring Alan, Dinah Drake and/or Ted Grant (whenever the Arrow boys feel like discarding the two) onto the show

So how many episodes will air before the show gets bumped for baseball?

Well that's good then. I recall a lot of people being annoyed at Fox bumping a majority of their primetime schedule for baseball.
