With GDT dropping out of The Hobbit, and there being a few HB 3 threads out there, I thought we could condense all HB3 discussion into one thread, here, so with GDT free for the next few years do you think he will do Hellboy 3?

Definately, its just whether Universal green light it, surely they realised their mistake last time with the release date.

Doesnt Del Toro have other projects to do besides right back to hellboy?

Del Toro's been working on numerous projects these past few years. Mountains of Madness and Frankenstein are among them. So I do hope he can do Hellboy 3 A.S.A.P.

Although, if he does HB3 he's gotta find some way around Liz's pregnancy. I do NOT want any damn kids or babys in the damn film, that would be cheesy and just flat out stupid as all hell. They sort of screwed the pooch with that at the end of the 2nd

Did you check out the extras in the DVD? Guess who's coming back and guess what he wants?

Baby's?

if that's the route they take, I'm out. It ends with the 2nd film for me if I see Red changing diapers and getting flustered over parenting while trying to save the world at the same time

"3 Men and a Baby" meets "Hellboy"

No Thanks

Dude! Look at the artwork! Those babies are part of the armageddon! Like the Birth of the Anti-Christ and ****!

what artwork? where?

If the purpose of the kids is to bring forth Armageddon and they leave all the cheesy diaper changing, baby spitting, crying in the middle of the night garbage out, then it's all good

if executed properly, it could work

but Hollywood, rarely if ever executes anything the way they should

Hellboy 2 had that baby scene, i didn't think it was awful or anything. I understand your worries Mr. Boney Dubz, you're worried that the movie will have silly family comedy-drama like some tv sitcom that would be entitled "the devil's wife" or something. :p

I think under another director the baby thing could be handled poorly, but under GDT, I have no worries that he will be able to make it work.

As a GDT fan, I will look forward to any of his movies, but I really think he needs to kick on with HBIII as Ron Perlman aint getting any younger, and it must be increasingly tough to put all those prosthetics on.

^Then I would presume it is planned that they are some part of the Apocalypse that Hellboy is meant to bring about, and Rasputin will somehow use them against HB.

I'd say its pretty unfounded to think Del Toro would make it hokey and sitcomy

^Definately, he puts good character scene's in his movies, always has done, so dont why he would suddenly go soap operish all of a sudden.

This could work, who says hellboys children have to start off in the movie as babys, and also if he were to have children with liz, wouldn't they be hybrid demons. i know its foretold that Rasputin said hellboy himself will bring around an apocalypse but hell boys doing a dam good job of saving the earth and not destroying it.

in my mind since liz says shes having twins it occurs to me, haven't your heard of the story of the twins one good one evil. the evil brother kills the good before birth. what if the evil brother kills off his sibling and he is the one in the prophesy to bring about the apocalypse from the first film..

^Something like that could work, or just have Rasputin use the two boys to get Hellboy to unleash the apocalypse but Liz and the BPRD (hopefully with Roger) stop him somehow, GDT said Liz will be suffering in this movie so I think he had some major pain in mind for her.

^Well, thats why he put in the line from Death to Liz:

"The time will come.....and you will suffer, more than anyone"

I think the 3rd movie could be really powerful and heartbreaking, so I really hope its gets made.

HB3 could be epic, even with babies...

Rassputin said HB would bring about Ragnarok ,the apocalypse...but just because he didn't do it in the first film doesn't mean he still can't...perhaps his destiny as destroyer of the world was truly meant to be his fathering the engines of the destruction - his kids....

Liz will suffer more than anyone....this can go several ways - actual, physical suffering (indeed,i'd imagine her very life might be at risk, especially if they have big horns and stone hands in the womb) , or the suffering meaning knowing her kids are the most evil things in the history of our planet....

there could also be interesting subtext for this - HB and Liz at odds...one or both of your kids will destroy the Earth...how do you deal with that? if you see them turning evil,do you still love and protect them? do you kill them, knowing what will happen if you don't (including your own likely destruction)? i can see this being a MAJOR conflict between the 2,with one trying to protect them,no matter what they do...and one trying to neutralize the threat...imagine how HB would end up if he has to destroy one of his kids?

it depends on Universal. I would like for Del Toro, however, to move onto another project before tackling Hellboy.

But at this point, Hellboy hasn't been a huge profitable franchise and Ron Pearlman (like it or not) isn't getting any younger..

If all else, I can see Del Toro's proteste tackling Hellboy if he doesn't have the time. Someone like Juan Antonio Bayona
