This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]391613[/split]
People put weight on different parts of their body, but you can't target fat loss in one particular area. You have to hit everything at once.Anyone have any tips for getting rid of love handles?
That's probably cause you weren't eating enough, especially protein. If you're at a caloric deficit, your body will glomp onto any incoming protein for fuel and leave nothing for your muscles to grow with.I've got the same problem. No matter how much I workout, eat right, they never go away. I ate no meat for two months and all I lost was muscle mass
It will depend on your foot shape and how you walk. Your best bet is to go to a running shoe specialty store where they will have you walk across a computerized pad and it will calculate where you put your weight on your foot. Some shoes are better for overpronators (high arches) and some are better for over supinators (flat feet). And some brands are better for wide feet and some are better for narrow feet. That Chun-li comment literally made lol. As for fitness, can anyone recommend a good pair of running shoes? Everywhere I look there are so many conflicting sources. I normally skate/use hockey for my cardio but ice time is getting more and more expensive.
I know, it isn't. I actually prefer the heavy-bottomed look myself, but it IS getting kind of ridiculous how skinny my arms are compared to the size of my thighs.Looking like chun li isn't bad lol
That would be the day.anita now needs to wear the chun li hair style when she goes to the gym

my top 3 brands as of late are Vibram, Puma, and ASICS I have to agree with Anita though, go to a local running specialty store and they will help you out big time. That Chun-li comment literally made lol. Deadlifts. Hooooooly crap, deadlifts. So I'm almost three weeks into trying to get back in shape and halfway done with my personal training sessions. Done 6, have 6 to go. Besides that I'm going to the gym by myself, running a lot, weight-training and aerobics (which are the worst). I'm trying to convince myself I can keep up this pace by myself after the training sessions are done (since they're ungodly expensive, I don't think I'll get more), but I'm worried I can't hold my own feet to the fire as much as someone else can. I've lost two kilograms (probably more, but I've gained muscles that weigh me down). My shoulders and upper chest have broadened and my arms are definitely stronger, but my stomach still looks terrible (despite crunches and planks) and my posture is terrible.
I think this new strict diet regiment is hard on my social life. I don't know what to say when my friends invite me out for beer (a big no-no). Saying I can't because I'm getting in shape sounds a bit like I'm saying I'm too good for them. I don't really know what to do about THAT. I think my really close friends understand, but I'm worried I'll lose a few of my less close friends and acquaintances, so this isn't great for networking and keeping a social schedule. I guess that's a problem I'll have to tackle on my own.
Anyway, anyone have any good exercises to straighten out one's posture? The love-handles and abs stuff has already been addressed. I guess that one just really takes a lot of patience and hard-work more than any of the other muscles.
(My stats: 30 year old 5'10 male, started at 77kg and 23% body fat---- down to 75kg and 21% body fat--- last checked 4 days ago)

Why don't you wanna go out for a few beers? Is it the calories? Is it cuz you get drunk and can't workout the next day?
If it's the first one then a beer is not much different than a coke or a glass of juice or whatever. If you know that you will be chugging down a few in the evening then just eat a little less during the day, or the next day, to even things out.
It's the calories. Beer has a terrible calorie count, and when you drink beers you rarely have one. I usually have 5 or 6 if I want a good night. So let's say it's the equivalent of a coke (something else my trainer told me to quit). Then it's still like I'm drinking 5 or 6 cokes and adding about 800-900 calories or so to my intake. The most calories I can work off running is about 450 before I'm totally wiped out. So I'd have to do two marathon sessions (for me anyway) just to undo the damage. That to me, is really frustrating.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm really trying to watch my intake.
