The Official Hype Fitness Thread 6.0 - Part 8

I’m planning on resuming running tomorrow morning if the sky’s don’t completely open up. My knee is still tender and bruised, even after about two weeks, but at least the fluid has drained. And my toe is still red and swollen (and kind of set strangely) but it doesn’t have any pain.

I’m planning on taking it extremely easy and just doing some jogging at first until I see how everything is holding up.
Yes, exactly. Always super easy after injury to see show you bear up. If bearable then keep going till the synovial fluid rocks up to help out. Best of luck mate. Getting anything on the board without mishaps will be a great result.

4 mile walk today and 5.2 mile run back from work last night.

Nov runs: 214.4 miles / 345 km

23.51 parkrun today as part of a 26.3 mile distance run. This is the first time I’ve tried gels and I’m glad my body reacted fine to them. They helped me get energy near the end part of the run and do the last 6 miles faster than I would have.

Nov runs: 240.7 miles / 387.4 km

First run since breaking my toe and injuring my knee. I was ok with my pace, but I had to cut distance way, way short. I started feeling the pounding in my knee.

Now my toe is swollen again. I’m sure it’ll go down though.

In all, I’m not discouraged.

Just as long as you're careful and don't accidentally break your toe again. That's the last thing you'd need to happen right now, probably.

15.1 miles today ahead of intervals tomorrow. Sat and Mon are the key workouts of the week for me with pretty much all other runs easy (depending if I can fit in a tempo on one of the short runs home from work). Usually too knackered for that though lol. Had another gel today and again went well. Much better than expected on these recent race-nutrition steps.

Nov runs: 255.8 miles / 411.7 km

Best way to do it. Just dip your …toe in the water carefully and be hyper-receptive to niggles and developments. Then rest and try again depending how it goes. Baby steps will win the day as the body gradually heals.

So, the swelling in my toe went down, but last night my knee was very swollen and it still has fluid on it today. I am planning on icing it tonight after work. I will rest it another week or so and if it isn’t better I will go to the doctor

I got back late and didn’t do my intervals workout this morning. Wonder if I’ll have the energy to do it after work. A shame to miss it but still overall consistency is very good.

Started intervals after work but wasn’t feeling it at all and packed up early to get to bed quicker! :D In the end did a nice easy slow run, a bit over 4 miles.

Nov runs: 260.1 miles / 418.6 km

Just got out of surgery. Was a success. Have to sit for a couple of weeks and then slowly build up from walking. Will be reborn and rebuilt. Thanks especially to @Iceman appreciate you

11.1 miles on the way to work. Started late and with the super cold weather and rain went into survival mode, plodding along lol. Was tough.

4.5 miles on the way home felt easier though.

I doubled up on running tops under a gilet and jogging bottoms on top of shorts to battle the cold. Def need gloves though as my fingers weren’t working properly! Just ordered some running gloves.

Slowing down on the mileage with the weather and missing the intervals on Monday but I’ve got so much in the bank from the first half of the month that it’s easily going to be a record for me regardless. So far Nov runs: 275.7 miles / 443.7 km.

Great to hear it was a success and excellent attitude. I was worried you’d be too impatient but this is the recipe for long term results with recovery my friend. :cwink: You’ll be fighting fit if you take it slow and steady and keep building small wins on top of each other.

So…my knee is completely inflamed, swollen and warm to the touch.

I’m generally pretty bummed over this injury.

Have you ever tried running with socks on your hands in the cold? That’s my go-to for keeping hands warm while running when the temps fall.

Haha, never heard of that. Some running gloves arrived in the post this morning and they seem decent.

Sorry to hear mate. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to too long out.

yesterday was my one year anniversary of returning to work after back surgery.

i celebrated by another 11 hour shift, at least 5 miles walked in the warehouse and kicking my butt.

Didn't sleep great so took a day off on Wednesday (with another day off due on Friday)

Today slept in for an additional hour which could easily have turned into more lol, but got out in the end and did 11.5 miles to work and 4.7 miles back.

Nov runs: 291.8 miles / 469.5 km

Great to get steps walked (for free) while working but 11 hour shifts don't sound fun.

Yesterday was one week since my last time I’ve run. My knee is still swollen and incredibly sore. I opted for no MRI at this time. I’m taking peptide injections to help with healing.

But I’m really going stir crazy not getting in any exercise right now. I’m going to try to limit calories so I don’t gain a ton of weight. And otherwise I’m planning on just resting this thing till the swollenness and the soreness subsides. If it isn’t better by mid December I may go ahead with an MRI.

But this is really hard.
