I love the "Choice" poster for SM2.

I love the "Choice" poster for SM2.

Yeah, it's a very pretty image- I had it as my wallpaper for years.

Edit: I too wish they released the Sandman poster officially, that image stuck with me of this big sand guy standing tall protecting this little girl.

Spider-Man 3 is a very flawed movie that isn't nearly as good as it's predecessors, but it's not bad and definitely isn't one of the worst CBM movies ever. Not even top 15.

Many comic book movies are flawed, but there is still plenty to enjoy about them. SM3's two main stories, the Peter-Harry frenemy arc and Sandman's story, are fundamentally well done. It's pretty clear that the sloppiness resides in characters and side stories that weren't part of the original conception. I just wish there could have been a 4th film to truly end the franchise.

Spider-man 3 is nowhere near the worst comic book movie ever. A horrible movie has really no good qualities about it whatsoever. When people think of the movie only the bad parts only stick out. The dancing,Sandman killing Uncle Ben,Venom just being thrown in,emo Peter;etc, etc. And I think the movie has been bashed so much in the media over the last 9 years that it's become accepted as truth. People just assume Spider-man is 3 bad because a lot of other people do.
But when I watch the movie it has so much going for it and so much I love. It has some great action scenes, characters you care about,an awesome score and it has heart. The characters, while not as developed as we'd like, are still pretty fleshed out and we never lose focus of Peter and his journey. And even though I've seen it dozens of times it never fails to be entertaining and fun. I'd consider the film more of a flawed movie than a bad one.

Agreed. Spider-Man 3 has issues, but ultimately, there is PLENTY of good in the movie, and overall for me, it outweighs the bad.

Yeah the last time I watched Spider-Man 3 I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the majority of the movie actually is.

It should have focused more on Harry and Peter.

The last time I watched Spider-Man 3 I was quite drunk but the second the movie started up I got into it and put all my focus onto watching. That's the surefire way to sober me up, play anything Spider-Man. I hadn't watched that movie in several years, whereas I make sure to rewatch the 1st 2 films at least once a year, and unfortunately the movie didn't hold up better for me. Granted I was drunk, but the movie still left me feeling cold because it's filled with a lot of good ideas but also some dumb ones, the good stuff doesn't get the proper time to be fleshed out so it all feels underdeveloped and rushed and the dumb things sort of just take hold from there. It's always a very bittersweet movie for me no matter how I slice it.

Agreed, I certainly have my issues with Spider-Man 3, but it's far from a bad movie. I still really enjoy itl

It seems like they are separated by a generation but it was only 1 year that separated the Raimi Spider-Man films and the launch of the MCU.

I wonder if things had gone differently we'd have seen Toby and RDJ interacting on screen like we're seeing Holland do now?

The Raimi movies were being worked into the MCU before the reboot.

In one of the original drafts for Iron Man, it explained that Tony Stark had helped create Doc Ock's tentacles in Spider-Man 2

I'd still like to see an alternate-MCU where Tobey's Spidey was the original hero, and hadn't been seen for years. Might be a little weird to have a Spider-Man who is older than most of the MCU, but it'd be interesting.

Wow. :csad:

Very interesting, never knew that

If not for the TASM reboot and had they done a Spider-Man 4 and it didn't do up to expectations, I could have easily seen Sony make the deal to share Spider-Man with Marvel like they've done now.

It would be interesting to see an adult Spider-Man and Stark and co. playing off each other.

It would be awesome, especially a Spidey who went through as much as Raimi's did, shame they had to do the ASM series.

I'm still hoping for some kind of future MCU Spiderverse with one or more scenes from Tobey and Andrew. It would also be a riot if Holland ended up in a Raimi dimension where everyone was played by Bruce Campbell.

Having delivered the first & second Spider-man for the financial successes they were for Sony, you'd have thought Raimi wouldn't have had to 'bow' to any studio 'pressure' as such to crowbar any character in as such, much less that one was forced purely on the back of a popularity contest.

I've always quite liked number 3, it's nowhere near the level of the first or second but it still has plenty to admire and buy into.

So ... Sony and Marvel Studios were starting to work together into incorporating Raimi's Spider-Man into the MCU BEFORE Sony decided to do the Amazing(ly terrible) Spider-Man movies?

Would it be weird of me to say that a part of me is still VERY bitter towards Sony? My goodness.

Oh well, I love Tom Holland so far as Spidey. At least I'm not going to ever see Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man near the MCU; thank god.

Bless, Garfield was sold down the river with his two films, the first an 'okay' effort, the second, just terrible nonsense. A reasonable Peter and a solid Spider-man, but just 'generic' films sadly.

The biggest silver lining. Escaping the TASM franchise.

I think Garfield would've been a wonderful Peter/Spidey if he was directed better. I am not sure whose choice it was to make Peter a stuttering, edgy loner, but it didn't work. Spider-man was almost there. Garfield's physical mannerisms, his Queens twang were all great. But somebody mistook Spider-man's quipping as him being a jerk. Marc Webb had no idea what he was doing.

Marc Webb was a studio puppet. The TASM movies are a great example of how bad Spidey can get when Sony is totally steering the ship. That's why they had to let Marvel jump in and save the day.
