I mean Saturday morning cartoons in general. I think that The Spectacular Spider-Man would be an exception, just as Batman: The Animated Series is, but I wasn't really excited about the prospect of getting up early on Saturday mornings to catch ONE show.

I like waking up early as it is, so it wasn't a problem for me, lol.
There

I didn't, at the time.
I'm a heavy sleeper, I despise sleeping, I hope I can condense my sleep as much as Batman does and sleep no more than 3 hours a day

People like this guy keep complaining about Harry in Spider-Man 3. To be honest, the character they portrayed most accurately the whole trilogy, especially in Spider-Man 3, is Harry

For me, Harry Osborn's revenge on Peter in Spider-Man 3 was sort of a missed opportunity. 5 years of buildup, and the payoff felt rushed through. We see Peter and Harry have a far too brief talk about Norman's death, then Harry getting out of the Goblin formula chamber. These scenes aren't given enough time to breathe and draw the audience into it. These are pivotal moments, but the film seems to rush through them and they pass with little fanfare.

He attacks Peter (in a great fight scene, even with it's anti-climactic resolution) and is hospitalized after getting clotheslined with webbing, and has amnesia. During this time, he and Peter are friends again, just like the first movie, so he's out of the picture as a villain to make way for Sandman. Eventually, he regains his memory, coerces Mary Jane to dump Peter for him, and Peter kicks his ass again, with the power of the symbiote. Then he decides to help Peter fight off Venom and Sandman to save Mary Jane, and Venom impales Harry with the SkyStick's blades.

Harry should have the film's #1 villain. No returning to the past love triangles and friendships. If I wanted to see Peter & Harry as friends, I would watch Spider-Man. They're enemies now, so give the audience some credit and go with that. It really overcomplicated the movie, in my opinion.

If there was one villain you'd like to have seen do an encore performance who would it be?

Mine would have to be Alfred Molina. I'm an Octopus junkie. I'd love to have seen him don the tentacles one more time.

I was holding out hope for Sinister Six, so Ock's return would have been vital.

They're awesome, don't get me wrong.

But it doesn't mean I wanna see that on film. :o

In my opinion, it would have been great if they just focussed on Peter-Harry in 3 and a little symbiote. Like someone wrote here some time before. And S-M4 should have been about Venom.

So there would have been time to focus on Harry and Peter, not just as enemies. Because they were best friends in the beginning, love triangel etc. It could have give a great story if they just told that without all other stuff going on in S-M3...

Get rid of Sandman as well, and I might agree with you. That said, I actually thought that Venom wasn't that much of problem.

I found an awesome Megadeth music video for Spider-Man 3. The song is "Blood of Heroes".

Enjoy!

I actually mean, with "without all other stuff going on in S-M3", get rid of Sandman :cwink:. An just a little Venom. Like making Spidey aggressive but than he'll get rid of him so you could had him in 4 as main villian.

That would bring time to tell one story entirely. In 3 the problems between Harry and Peter. After my fancy the should become friends at the end again. And in 4 Harry could have get killed by helping Peter against Vernom. But well, I prefer he's staying alive :yay:.

Just one possible way 3 could have run...But I guess we had this topic a thousand time round here? :woot: Quintessence is just whatever story direction S-M 3 could have run, they should have kept it focussed and not rushed through...

Agreed!

I have an interesting what-if question for Spider-Man 3: What if the symbiote chose to bond with Harry Obsorn (or attempted to) in lieu of Eddie Brock after Peter Parker rejected it?

Then fans would have gone to Sam Rammi's house and murdered him.

I would like to add an addendum to this question stating what my opinion of it would be.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the general idea of switching a character's motif to that of another one. But it wouldn't be without any benefits. For example:
  • It eliminates the possible redundancy of two villains with a personal grudge against Spider-Man that seek to kill him.
  • It would be both a payoff to the buildup of Harry wanting revenge against Spider-Man and do so without having to make Harry into a second Goblin. You also eliminate the need to establish the Eddie Brock character and his motivations, so there's more time to use on something else. This makes the film's narrative more streamlined.
  • A point could be made that Harry Osborn failed to live up to his father's legacy as a Goblin and was better off creating his own as Venom.
  • Spider-Man vs Venom becomes a battle between best friends (as Peter vs Eddie is in USM and TSSM) without having to retcon Eddie Brock into Peter's past.

If it were done well, then I think I could have overcome my resistance to the concept.

Has anybody ever noticed how many scenes Spider-Man 2 has of people talking out loud by themselves? Ock's conversation with himself in the pier? Peter asking "why is this happening?" Peter asking "am I not supposed to have what I want?" while staring longingly out the window?

I think Spider-Man 2 is the most well-crafted of the entire trilogy, but I liked how scenes in the first movie, like Peter realizing that the spider bite gave him powers and that he can crawl up walls, are sold entirely by the music and the looks on Tobey Maguire's face.

I love both, just a nitpicky observation. :oldrazz:
