Gotham The Official Jada Pinkett Smith is Fish Mooney Thread

I dunno, I actually like Jada. I usually dig what she brings onscreen.

But, I dunno...Fish seems out of place, so far. All the other characters, even the ones that are ridiculous, still don't come across as cheesy in their performance quite like she does. I mean, I guess Cobblepot does...but he's a sociopath and his random killing balances it out for me.

Like, for example, look at how Carmine Falcone came across compared to how she does. Even Maroni, while probably being a little stereotypical, seemed like the type of person that could run an organization.

But, I dunno...maybe that's the point of this character. Because it doesn't look like Falcone will easily be able to handle her as a threat.

 

Absolutly loving Jada's Fish Moony right now. So much so, I hope they can merge her into the comics like Arrow's John Diggle. I'm guessing the plan is to get rid of her as she is not part of the regular Batman continuty, but maybe she can just go on the run and live in Cuba, hiding from Falcone and waiting for her time to strike back.

who is the woman who says "I want out", and Fish says No? Is Fish some kind of mother figure to her?

The old woman.. Fish's real mother? (Would have been great to have Nichelle Nichols)..

 

Fish is definitely one of the stand out characters on the show!

 

The girl is Liza, whom Fish has been training to get close to Falcone so she can take him down. Fish does mother her in a way but it's essentially manipulative.

 

... Fish needs some more sexy showcases..

 

I'd like to see her with different hair. The wardrobe is OK -- it's kind of chic trash. But her hair I don't like. Her real hair looks better on her. That do that she has on the show is too punk. It doesn't suit her.

I feel like Jada is channeling a bit of Eartha Kitt in this rolls. Mainly in how she talks, and holds her vowels. Just me?

 

I think her henchman, Butch, is in love with her. That's why he did what he did in that car during the latest episode. Basically remove any potential threats to her.

 

Kinda off topic, but I just saw her on the cover of a mag in a bikini at the store and....sweet mercy, that bod.

 

You know, I thought the same thing for a minute. It's kinda hard to say though, because Butch is in a business where people kill each off all the time. Who knows what he stands to gain. Still, it's a story line to look for.

Epic, man. She looks awesome. I was never into her when she was younger but she looks REALLY good now.

 

I have decided to watch this in earnest. Have the show clogging up my DVR, and I am watching episode 5 right now. I actually like it quite a bit. My only problem for me is Mooney. She is beyond horrible. She brings the show to a screeching halt. Not fun, not menacing, not sexy. Just terrible.

 

I'm going to assume she survives this encounter, and goes on to run a small street operation, taking Selina Kyle (and probably some other urchins) under her wing.

 

I think her plot has run its course and for them to move on.

 

I love Fish Mooney. She is such a great character to hate. I love the irony of Penguin and Fish. She names him Penguin and yet Penguin eat fish. So you got love the irony.

 

Omg the look on Fish face when Penguin basically told her that she was stupid compared to him was priceless. She had her shot with Penguin he won't be caught like that a second time.

 

I don't think her character has run its course...it's only the first season. And Jada Pinkett is so phenomenal that I want to see as much of this character as possible. My assumption is that she won't be killed off in any way & as stated above will form her own criminal ring at some point with a few familiar faces involved.

 

I have to say I love this character. She can be over the top and even silly, but it works.

If her popularity grows, I wouldn't be surprised if they integrate her into the comics some how (Harley Quinn style). Present day older Fish, or Fish Moony's just as eccentric daughter.

 

The character needs to continue, Jada needs to continue. Even at a recurring role level. If they can't sign her for a continuing presence, they need to bring her back for sweeps months. So much of the resentment has had little to to genuinely with her acting but instead for Fish being this "non-canonical" character and African American to boot.

Well that's a shame.

 

Yuuup, I actually think this hurts the show. I actually know some people who watched just for Jada. Well, at least now I don't have to hear the griping about her "hamming it up".

 

I like Bullock the best, but Fish is a big part of the show. You just don't see many dangerous women with leadership skills.
