This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]338401[/split]
I thought it was interesting how Emma Frost was imprisoned half way through the third act of the film and only appeared once before the end of the film.
To that I still think it was more a writer problem, they needed to expose Shaw's plan and keep the other telepath away at the last act, and the character suffered for that, the Bene Gesserit witch had to leave.
I wouldn't say a writer 'problem', more a writer decision. A strategy to remove the character, so that Xavier could do what Xavier did to Shaw and the rest would follow, including the Magneto comic book costume reveal at the end. It made sense.
I would have killed her.
Then her family comes and identifies the body.
Then DNA results come back and declares that it is absolutely her dead body.
Then a thorough worldwide search for clones is done and comes back empty.
Then an open casket funeral is held, and she is subsequently buried.
Then fanboys post on the internet about how she can return for a sequel because she probably didn't really die.
Oh no this isn't going to become a "all women in real life should look like my idea of beauty" sort of thread is it?
By all means if you didn't like January's acting, that's a fair comment but saying she's ugly or that her thighs need to be exactly one inch thicker is too far.
But people on here have dated girls with the proportions of a woman comic book character. So it's fair debate
She looks just like my primary school teacher when I was 12...
My girlfriend commented that Jones "must be doing a lot of auditions on her back." Can't say I disagree.
Not a problem.
My one gripe with the movie was January Jones as Emma. She was completely wrong for the part. Her performance was very monotone. I'd say she was the weakest character in the movie.
Not surprising. She was bad on Saturday Night Live, too.
Aside from the character she plays on Mad Men, she really isn't a great actress.
The one joy I have reading other reviews here is almost universal consensus of how appalling Jones was. Does make you wonder why they never replaced her. Hopefully she'll get a well-deserved Razzie nom.
- January Jones (can't act her way out of a paper bag)
She is good on Mad Men, especially in that scene where she smacks her daughter. I think JJ's acting was overshadowed by the main actors. Her part didn't require much acting to be honest and certainly not any emotional depth but it was certainly more than what Riptide and Azazel got.
She did appear mischievous when she flashed a smile to the Russian General after he comes out of the mental seduction.
I just think Emma Frost needs more characterization in future sequels and a meatier role in order for her to shine.
She's good on mad men, but i'm starting to think thats because Betty Drapers character is a cold, wooden, emotionless biotch by nature....just like January haha.
I heard when January Jones auditioned for Mad Men she actually auditioned for another role and they created the Betty role just for her.
