Days of Future Past The Official JANUARY JONES/Emma Frost Thread - Part 1

Anybody else hoping for a bad Emma Frost/White Queen from Hellfire Club? Please Fox... make her evil!! :D

I thought it was interesting how Emma Frost was imprisoned half way through the third act of the film and only appeared once before the end of the film.

To that I still think it was more a writer problem, they needed to expose Shaw's plan and keep the other telepath away at the last act, and the character suffered for that, the Bene Gesserit witch had to leave.

I wouldn't say a writer 'problem', more a writer decision. A strategy to remove the character, so that Xavier could do what Xavier did to Shaw and the rest would follow, including the Magneto comic book costume reveal at the end. It made sense.

You're very right, it's more a decision, I wrote problem cause I really wanted to see more of Frost in the film.

I would have killed her.
Then her family comes and identifies the body.
Then DNA results come back and declares that it is absolutely her dead body.
Then a thorough worldwide search for clones is done and comes back empty.
Then an open casket funeral is held, and she is subsequently buried.
Then fanboys post on the internet about how she can return for a sequel because she probably didn't really die.

To be honest it would have been best if they killed her in the movie, and this comes from someone who had no problem with anything regarding Emma Frost in this movie.

I liked Emma Frost in the movie!!!

Oh no this isn't going to become a "all women in real life should look like my idea of beauty" sort of thread is it?

By all means if you didn't like January's acting, that's a fair comment but saying she's ugly or that her thighs need to be exactly one inch thicker is too far.

But people on here have dated girls with the proportions of a woman comic book character. So it's fair debate:whatever:

She looks just like my primary school teacher when I was 12...

Julian McMahon/Doctor Doom, the female version.

Never thought she was horrible in Mad Men, but maybe thats because her character is supposed to be emotionless and wooden. She was crap in this movie. Line delivery, body language....did anyone on the set even know who Emma Frost is?

My girlfriend commented that Jones "must be doing a lot of auditions on her back." Can't say I disagree.

Wouldnt be surprised.

Reminds me of something else I thought about during the movie. It seems like January Jones should be smoking hot, but for some reason she just isn't. Something off about her face...I don't know. Was staring at her and thinking "you're hot...but not as hot as you should be". Sounds weird, yeah.

Jessica Biel again has the same shape as the pic of the White Queen, I am not saying she is a perfect choice to play her but she does have the body shape that the is more sutied to playing the white queen.

I am sorry a few of you have never had the pleasure of a beautiful woman. There are alot more pretty women out there then fugly ones. As far as being a geek or some other school yard term, I am 38 years old married with 2 kids. There have been with many women in my life, some as sexy as Halle Berry and some plain like America Ferrera in Ugly Betty. If you are interesting and confident you can pretty much choose any woman you want no matter what you have or look like. All of you know a very attractive female that has a man and all you wonder about is what she sees in him. So please lets drop that aspect of this discussion and focus on the subject in question and that is the portrayal of the White Queen by January Jones.

January Jones looked a little older maybe like Jessalyn Gilsig's age.
But her portrayal of Emma Frost is good.

Well if rumors are to be believed.........

Her "acting" seems to be the biggest criticism of the movie

Seems it's not just here

Not a problem.

My one gripe with the movie was January Jones as Emma. She was completely wrong for the part. Her performance was very monotone. I'd say she was the weakest character in the movie.
Not surprising. She was bad on Saturday Night Live, too.

Aside from the character she plays on Mad Men, she really isn't a great actress.

The one joy I have reading other reviews here is almost universal consensus of how appalling Jones was. Does make you wonder why they never replaced her. Hopefully she'll get a well-deserved Razzie nom.

Ouch.

- January Jones (can't act her way out of a paper bag)

IMO she just seemed bland.

She is good on Mad Men, especially in that scene where she smacks her daughter. I think JJ's acting was overshadowed by the main actors. Her part didn't require much acting to be honest and certainly not any emotional depth but it was certainly more than what Riptide and Azazel got.

She did appear mischievous when she flashed a smile to the Russian General after he comes out of the mental seduction.

I just think Emma Frost needs more characterization in future sequels and a meatier role in order for her to shine.

Yes, to everything.

eh she was my least fav transition from comic. she got the cold part down but had no charm or humor that define emma to me. She felt like a fem bot

She's good on mad men, but i'm starting to think thats because Betty Drapers character is a cold, wooden, emotionless biotch by nature....just like January haha.

Other places in web seem to say they love the film, but January is the weakest part, with some people saying she did the 'casting couch' to get the role. I don't think she's a bad person, but with Damon Lindelof saying her acting sucks, Zach Galifianakis saying they had a falling out and the mystery pregnancy, I don't know if she will be back, she might be stuck playing Betty Draper for good if Hollywood is going against her.

I heard when January Jones auditioned for Mad Men she actually auditioned for another role and they created the Betty role just for her.

This is true, she auditioned for Peggy Olsen but then they wrote Betty for her, as Betty was supposed to be an unseen character.
