One of the minds behind Green Lantern TAS…

Idk how I am supposed to take this tweet tbh lol.

Manhunters were a part of the Earth One storyline.

Also, the current GL comics writer, Jeremy Adams, wrote a few episodes of GL TAS if I'm not mistaken. "Blue Hope" I'm pretty sure was one. I loved that episode.

The Mindhunters should have been the villain in Ryan Reynolds’s Green Lantern movie. Made more since then a difficult villain like Parallax.

Speaking of villains, but I wonder what the implications for Sinestro's role in the DCU are since they're going with an older Hal who may or may not be on borrowed time? It's a shame that we may be losing out on that rivalry.

Maybe I am missing something but is John Stewart the most popular African American superhero next to Miles Morales? The reason why I ask is that this colorism claim has become a hot topic. I mean I was a fan of the Justice League Animated series but some people are using the original comic to justify the backlash for Pierre. I have even heard that John could have a Black Panther effect if he is done right.

Maybe Sinestro and Hal have already clashed in the past and Sinestro has been locked up in the Sciencells this whole time. Which could lead him to discovering Parallex.

The average person who isn't a comic reader and knows who John Stewart is, knows him because of the Justice League cartoon. To a certain demographic, he is THE Green Lantern, thanks to that show. I've seen multiple post on forums/social media over the years with people saying they were confused when Ryan Reynolds popped up as GL in that crappy movie lol.

But in the world of comics while I'm sure John has fans (including yours truly), he has never had enough of a fanbase to maintain his own book. He got his first solo series in 1992, and it only lasted 18 issues. I really enjoyed it, but I'm clearly one of a small class. He's only had a couple more shots as the main character in a GL book since then, and they never last long.

So is he the most popular African-American superhero? Amongst non comic readers, it's possible. I think Cyborg or Storm probably come before him, due to the various Teen Titans and X-Men cartoons. You specified African-American and not Black, because otherwise I would have included Black Panther who is definitely more popular than John to non comic readers, because of the MCU. Within the comics realm, I'd still put Stewart behind Storm who has been a very popular member of the X-Men for 40 plus years.

Storm is not African American, she is Egyptian. Storm is the one female hero that I pray Marvel gets right. Her character would do so much for women of color. Nothing against Halle Berry and the old X-Men films but Storm is treated as badly as DC movies has treated Hal. Black Panther is from the continent of Africa. I am talking about black superheroes who were born in the USA like Miles, Black Lightning, Static, John Stewart, and Cyborg ect…..

The Green Lantern core is one of the best groups DC has to offer. My one issue with the core is there to many humans from earth now. It’s supposedly very hard and it is an honor to be selected to the Lantern core, I can’t imagine the rings continuously choosing Earthlings. Hopefully they keep it at Hal, Guy, and John. When you start bringing in Jessica and Kyle the power ring starts to lose its meaning. Just my opinion.

I started watching some of Pierre's movies and shows. Rebel Ridge shows that he can be an action star but in Genius he is playing Malcolm X. So far his presence eats up the screen. I am going to watch Brothers because it got some good critic scores. The young man fought hard to get this role through grueling test screenings and top flight competition. I can tell you love the John Stewart, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Isn't Hal like one of the greatest GL's of all time? That could be an argument for why earthlings keep getting picked, because Hal proved how good an earthling could be in the role.

Maybe but you seem to see one of every type of species with a ring but you get like 6 earthlings. You don’t think that weird. Senestro was considered a great Lantern as well.

The current GL run came up with the explanation that they have an excess of will and innate inability to follow orders. So basically they are more likely to be better candiates for Green Lanterns. A previous explanation was due to the White Lantern Entity being hidden on Earth because that was where the first source of life started. So they needed more human lanterns to help defend if it need be. And I before that, the explanation was that Earth 1 or Prime was the foundation of the mutiverse. So if it was destroyed, it would destroy the rest of the mutliverse or something like that.

Storm was born in America to a African-American father and Kenyan mother. I know Black Panther is from Africa lol, that's why I said in my previous post I didn't include him n my "popularity ranking" since you specifically asked for African-American heroes, and not Black heroes in general.

Love me some Storm. Hopefully they do her justice in the MCU.
