No, continuing the Donner movies and doing it poorly makes you Bryan Singer. It would have been fine if he thought outside the box and realized there was more to the Donner movies than borrowing surface elements and not doing anything new.

If we do see Lex, do you guys think he'll finally don the Kryptonite battlesuit on film? I would totally geek out if I saw that. And it could work for either businessman Lex or mad scientist Lex. Both versions have used the suit at one point.
