i'm kinda on the fence about this game. it looks amazing, i know it's got great reviews, but the pacing is my biggest concern. i like to go through games fairly quickly. :(

So is the combat real time, Turn based, or Real time/Turn Based like KOTOR?

I'm the opposite. I love taking my time with games. Exploring each room, trying to find every possible avenue, asking everything that can be asked, etc. You get the most out of the game that way.

I got the game today, could only play it for about two hours before I had to go to work, and its great. The pacing is very slow, so it might not be your thing.

considering that you're paying about 60 bucks per game, I don't know why anyone would do it any other way.

Because everyone knows that cutting large chunks of content out of a game to save time is the best way to get a good feel for what it has to offer. Just ask most reviewers.

They will tell you the same.

Are any of your seriously surprised by some of the negatives in the game? KOTOR was a sub-par game at best. The only reason it did so well, was because had Star Wars in the title.

For Bioware has alway been known as the Half Ass RPG creators.

Speak for yourself. Have you actually played the game?

Amen. Im talking to everyone in the game, constantly upgrading myself and equipment, and overall, tricking myself into believing that Mass Effect is no game and is real life. The illusion of reality is what makes these games great (even if you have to consciously lie to yourself).

MASS EFFECT RULES!!!!!!!!

KotOR? Sub-par? It's your opinion but take a look at the reviews HERE and some of the awards it won
KotOR won numerous awards, including Game Developers Choice Awards' game of the year, BAFTA Games Awards' best Xbox game of the year, and Interactive Achievement Awards for best console RPG and best computer RPG. KotOR has seen success as the game of the year from many sources including IGN, Gamespot, Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, GMR Magazine, The Game Developers Choice Awards, Xbox Magazine, and G4. Interactive Achievement Awards awarded it for best story and best character development. IGN gave KotOR additional awards in Best Sound (Xbox category), Best Story (PC category), Xbox RPG Game of the Year 2003, PC RPG Game of the Year 2003, Xbox Game of the Year 2003, PC Game of the Year 2003, and Overall Game of the Year 2003 across all platforms. The game is also part of The Xbox Platinum Series/Classics for sales in excess of 1 million units. In 2007, a story twist within the game was ranked number two in Game Informer's list of the top ten video game twists of all time.
It wasn't because it had Star Wars in the title.

I haven't played Mass Effect yet but I don't think "Bioware has alway been known as the Half Ass RPG creators"... At least I've not seen anyone else say so.

Thats why I said it was me that thought that. I have always looked at them as half ass. I like KOTOR, but it wasn't THAT good. Not nearly as good as Fable, or Morrowind.

talk about half ass...

Touche, but in that case the game only seemed Half Ass if you had followed the full conception of Fable. If you were oblivious to all the stuff that was supposed to be in the game, then it would have been a great game.

Anywho. Like I asked earlier. What kind of combat is Mass Effect? KOTOR type combat, or Jade Empire?

talk about half ass...

Fable was a great game, regardless of what cry babies might say about it. "Waaahhh!! I don't get to plant a tree so this game sucks!" Grow some ****ing cahones and get over it already.

If you came in without any previous conceptions, it was a great game. Through and through, the game was an obviously great game and it's sales showed that.

Bioware games have always had some issues. The classes are unbalanced, things like the environments have a lot of the tell tail 'cut corners' aspect to them, and you can tell that the side quests are just sort of afterthoughts.

At the end of the day, Bioware games are typically good because they manage to be more than just the sum of their parts. The dialog system, is fantastic, and the combat is really good (issues aside), and the presentation is generally really awesome.

Though I'd say it's about time people didn't just give Bioware a free pass on everything because they're the only real western RPG dev that make a the western equivalent of the JRPG. Bioware games are still awesome when all is said and done, but they always have a lot of polish issues here and there.

I just knocked over the 360 by accident and scratched the disc to hell... and it won't run...

Ah, you're one of those people. Did you have it vertically standing?
