X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Even though I wish we get new blood everywhere but it's clear that the MCU isn't opposed to cherry-picking and at this point it's something we all have to accept.

Having said that, if they gave him a white wig and comic accurate writing, I wouldn't be opposed to Fassy coming back as Magneto.

Definitely. And McAvoy looked great as Xavier once they finally let him be bald in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. I don’t think I’d advocate for Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, or Alexandra Shipp returning though. They weren’t bad or anything but I don’t think Fox nailed the casting there like they did with McAvoy & Fassbender.

Curious though if we get Grammer as CGI Beast. Lol I get the feeling that Monica Rambeau will just show back up in Secret Wars and they won’t even address the Beast cameo from The Marvels.

So, realistically, we think we're keeping Jackman, Reynolds, and Keen, right?

I could be on board with Laura / X-23 being a student at Xavier's with the other X-Men. Jackman's Wolverine as a mentor a la X-Men Evolution. He's there for the big stuff, but otherwise doing his own thing (or teaming with Deadpool & X-Factor?).

The question then becomes who do you bring on for Xavier and Magneto. Obviously Stewart and McKellen are not viable options (beyond Secret Wars) but would MCU consider McAvoy and Fassbender? They're both nearing 50--age-wise, they'd be fine standing amongst a cast of 20-25 year old X-Men actors.

Are there any other actors worth considering? Maybe Anya Taylor Joy as Magik?
A big no to X-23 taking the spotlight in a X-Men movie, especially early in the X-Men reboot. She would just fill the void from Wolverine's absence...

And there's really no point bringing back anyone from The New Mutants and the First Class era actors in the same role.

I’m happy with x-23 taking the spotlight. You know what they say. X sells

She's easier to sell because she's heavily associated with the Wolverine.

Angel
Psylocke
Jubilee
Gambit
Rogue
Storm
Polaris
Dazzler
Emma
Bishop
Iceman
Colossus
Banshee
Havok
Sunfire

These are characters that have yet to truly shine in the movies. I don't see why I would prefer someone that looks similar and heavily associated with the Wolverine, who had the most screentime out of all the X-Men. X-23 is essentially Wolverine 2.0.

Yeah, the X-men is ****ed.
Ha, we still have the comics. But I think we need to prepare for like, a movie about how the x-men are the real baddies because they’re so mean to poor old graydon creed!

I hope X-men will be from 616, and Beast's universe remains variant
For sure we must have heroes from others universes we've already seen, in SW:
SpideyMcGuire, SpideyGarfield, WorstWolverine (now the bestWolverine), Deadpool 10005(main version), Beast/Binary, maybe Venom from Sony .. also others characters from others worlds in 616 like Clea, Hercules, can appear

I say again, I dream of having x-men fighting against Sentinels at Times Square section of New York City during night. It would be powerful and beautiful. I rewatched Godzilla vs Kong in Hong-Kong city scene and I think a big battle between X-men and Sentinels would be great and enjoying

Aware of rumors are circulating during this month, about Wolverine Jackman possibility of reprising his role even after SW and no Wolverine in actual reboot
Some sources assure for many reasons we wont get Wolverine among X-team, producers' will is to make separate projects first between X-men and Wolverine before seeing him joining the team, or because adamantium just recently introduced in MCU...
I find this ridiculous, since we've already seen Logan recruited in X1. dont want a retelling.
and recent discovery of adamantium by US governement (from Tiamut's corpse) doesnt mean others secret organizations didnt discover this before.
Otherwise Wolverine can also debut with bones claws

Nick Fury is not a good comparison as the youngest we saw Fury in the MCU, was in the 90s...

How can you showcase Magneto in the 1930s or the 1940s, who won't be more or less 100 years in the late 2020s to 2030s, without doing a time travel or giving him fountain of Youth mutation?
Yes fountain of youth
Fury in MCU is based on Ultimate comics, not prime universe. Original Fury is a survivor from WWII and kept his youngness until nowadays by taking something
Must find a **** like that for Magneto because you cant make Magneto without his background of survivor of Holocaust

We can change origin of Namor, origin of Valkyrie, Taskmaster, Mandarin .... but not Magneto. His past makes him an interesting character, that is the strengh and the spirit of the character so we cant dissociate he and his story. Hes used to be known like that, changing his origin /story would generate disapproval and troubles among fans

Yeah, the relaunch hasn't been great so far.

Yeah I’m keen on the psylocke and Storm solos and I adore Gail but I wish it wasn’t so focused on nostalgia. And now it looks like the next event is just about putting them back in the mansion so f krakoa I guess? Ah well. I guess marvel thought with the way the world is at the moment the krakoa plot is too spicy.

But trying not to get too real world is a bad move for the x-franchise because it’s all about that. Sorry hopefully not ranting

I still haven't read anything from the 2024 relaunch.
Yeah I recently read Uncanny x-men which was fun but like, if I have to be honest, it didn’t really answer why krakoa had to go. Other than nostalgia and Tom brevoort’s kind of Wikipedia skimming of what he thought it was about.

But oh well maybe it just needs time. I mean x-men is x-men

Krakoa is like this generation's Grant Morrison run, where it was going to have its time but ultimately the franchise was going to go back to its classic iconography.

Yeah at least they kept some parts of Grant’s run and didn’t just make all the characters badmouth the previous era but yeah that’s comics, they always go back to the same spot.

Ah well.

Alan would be a fun Beast but I was sort of hoping for someone more verbose

From the second HoX/PoX launched I was always waiting on the other shoe to drop

I enjoyed some of the ideas that came out of it, but I hated the idea of mutants isolating on an island, and didn't like how out of character a lot of the X-Men were portrayed, especially early on

That said, I hope they don't end up all back at the mansion pretending Krakoa never happened
