Okay, there's a whole heap of MGS games coming out now, and being one of this place's many "ZOMG! MGS is teh rockers!" people that always makes threads on the games, I thought it best I created a thread covering all of them instead of individual ones. Obviously, MGS4 gets its own thread... because it's MGS4. So let's see what's coming out.

Metal Gear Online -

A PS3 exclusive online game featuring unique characters that encourages the player to work as a team to get the job done. Metal Gear Online allows up to 16 players to sneak and attack in online combat scenarios. The game uses a new team system called SOKKU, which allows you quickly and easily access info on your allies.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable OPS + -

Taking the already brilliant Portable OPS online mode, and spanning it over the whole MGS universe, + will feature popular characters like Raiden, and even Old Snake while also having new locations such as the hanger in which Metal Gear Rex rests. Infinty Mode has also been added, an as-of-yet unknown single player mode.

Metal Gear Solid Mobile -

An MGS1 style game, looking pretty similar to the original classic. Little has been revealed about the plot, but from the looks of it, you're Solid Snake, unless the game pulls an Ac!d on you. Designed for a new MGS themed mobile coming out.

Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel 2 -

Sequal to the first Digital Graphic Novel on PSP, this one follows the story of MGS2, and looks to feature voice acting this time around. Its purpose to to refresh players memories on the important bits before MGS4 is out, boasting the artistic talents of Ashley Wood.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl -

Okay, not really a Metal Gear Solid game, let alone a Playstation one, but Snake's there, and undoubtedly other MGS characters, locations and items will be too. SSB is without a doubt my favorite multi-player game and I can only hope Snake is damn good, because both the previous two games have their fair share of mediocre characters, even so I'll still play as him pretty much all the time.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable OPS 2

Recently confirmed sequal to Portable OPS, little is known about this title.

Gamer.TV hosted the first footage of MGS Online yesterday, it looked pretty neat, thought I'm not sure about it being a stand alone title.

Out of all these, I'm looking forwards to Smash Bros the most, but in terms of actual MGS titles? Portable OPS plus.

There's also the movie to come, as well as unavoidable sequals to Portable OPS, MGS4 maybe be the end of Snake, but I don't see this seriesa going down for a long, long time.

God I really need to get a PS3 for MGS4 and MGO

MGO is gonna be big. Cant wait for it to drop

I'm not sure. I'm not really happy with how they dropped the MG name on it without showing any MGS areas or characters. Hopefully they'll show more with em soon.

I'm sure we'll see MGS content proper. Has it been confirmed what storyline MGS mobile will be covering or if it will be its own stand alone story?

I still say Kojima Productions should look at making a MG game for the DS. There's a lot of money to be made there, though chances are they would have to makea completely new game from the ground up, and there's a tonne of MG stuff recently.

Yeah, looking at everything to come, I hope this is all grade-A stuff, as with expansion packs with no original game, stand alone online titles, mobile games that come with nice expensive new phones to play on, MGS' rep is already starting to be broken down just by the obvious cashing in they're doing on the series.

I blame the those Botkai DS games for not selling. :cmad:

Have they confirmed that the Red and Blue overlays will be visible throughout the entire level? As in let's say 1 of my teammates is in the hangar in this screenshot, would the blue overlay of where he is be visible to me?

Because honestly the nano machine system as they've explained it sounds really good and a good step above just having an icon indicating if they're in combat a la Halo 2. Being able to hack into the enemy network is genius.

This new system does make you wonder just how much of a hit MGO's gonna be. Could we be looking at the next counter strike? I hope not, cause my obsessive MGS fanboyness means I HAVE to be great at online, and I don't want to start pooring blood, sweat and tears into this. :(

Anyway, more + shots.

It's in BETA stages already? maybe we're going to be seeing this before the end of the year?

Just maybe. From the interview I posted in the Home thread:

Jamie Macdonald: Heavenly Sword, and there are going to be some announcements at Leipzig next week, so we’ll be talking to you about those out there.

It's stretching ,I know.

Snake better not die in Metal Gear 4. I bought a PS3 specifically for Metal Gear games. If he died....I just couldn't take it. I'm serious.

Well the beta starts pretty soon, I hope Metalgearsolid.org gets some moles. :o

It's apparently the last in the series to concern Solid Snake, but what will the next series have? Raiden?:csad:

That was bound to happen given how few marketable series they have left :csad:

lol :o

I've never really been a big fan of MGS games but the gameplay videos I watched a few days ago pretty much sold me on it this time. I prefer running in all guns blazing rather than stealth which is why they didn't really make much of an impression on me before

Well MGS3 takes place in a jungle and you can pretty much play with stealth or play it 'rambo' style.

European PS3s are different... they don't have emulation hardware so all games are run using some type of software which updates with the firmware
