Not just their relationship, either. I really want to see Jane interact with the other Asgardians (Sif, in particular). Prior to Thor 2's release, both Natalie Portman and Jaimie Alexander said that there was going to be some meaningful interactions between their two characters, and yet this never materialised. Seeing Jane mess around with the other Aesir would be a nice way to add a few lighter moments to a film which is almost certainly going to be very dark and grim.
shows they have plans for the character. Given the dialogue between the comics and movies, I have little doubt now that Jane will be in Ragnarok. Does this mean we'll see Portman suit up alongside Hemsworth and Hiddleston to take on Surtur, Thanos or whoever else? Hope so.
I'm not saying they should adapt the story verbatim. What I am saying is that the movies and comics have a great deal of dialogue and we should therefore not be too surprised if Jane plays a more direct role in the movie's action scenes this time round. It would also be a great way to silence everyone who calls her "useless" or "pathetic".
Jane Foster needs to die in Ragnarok. She can take Thors place somehow and die to the World Serpent, allowing Thor to escape his "fate" and survive Ragnarok.
I just hope that have Hela in the movie. Would be cool to see the Fenris wolf too.

That would be a pretty poor characterisation of Thor. Seeing him sacrifice Jane purely to save his own skin would make him the least sympathetic character in the whole MCU, and then some. Ragnarok should portray Thor as a brave hero; not some coward who dooms the woman he loves.

WTF... I never said that Thor had any part in it.
She did it on her own, to save Thor knowing that Thor needed to survive to save the world or something like that.
I don't think the current comic has any bearing on what will happen in the MCU any time soon. Feige (I think) has commented on that and said that the comics have a completely different need to change things up after over 50 years of stories, while the MCU only has 2 Thor movies and 2 Avengers movies this far.

There's definitely a certain amount of dialogue between the two mediums, though. Just look at what they did by introducing Coulson and the movie-inspired Chitauri into 616, for example.
Jane being possessed by the aether could have added all kinds of new dimensions to her character, such as the temptation of ultimate power. Instead they used it to make her a victim.

Well, here's an idea (SPOILERS for the comic book):
What if exposure to the Aether gave Jane cancer? I don't think they will ever have Jane become Thor in the movies, but if they wanted to, they could tie it together there. On the other hand, though, I guess that justification would take away the personal connection that cancer can strike anyone, so maybe it's a bad idea.
I don't think it should be that easy for Thor. I think that Thor should embrace his destiny as King of Asgard, but realize that it comes with personal sacrifice. Jane goes back to Earth, Thor stays in Asgard. And don't think I'm suggesting this because I hate Jane or anything... i don't. I just think that it would be a realistic evolution from his decision at the end of TDW. And heroes make personal sacrifices for the greater good... and just maybe I don't like happy endings
I like Portman as an actress, and I really liked Jane in the first Thor film, but I hope they ditch her for Ragnarok. She was just unnecessary baggage in TDW and was reduced to a whiny plot device. If she is in Ragnarok I hope she has something significant and realistic to do. As somebody else mentioned, I wouldn't mind her sacrificing herself for Thor. That would be very emotional and serve as motivation for Thor.

I'm not sure if they should give her cancer, but I do think they should mention that Jane has experienced some after-effects from the Aether. I mean, having an Infinity Stone inside you for several days is bound to affect you somehow. Perhaps she's been suffering from PTSD or some such thing, being haunted by images of the Aether and the Dark Elves.

I would agree to what's in bold, to any degree that Marvel sees fit. If she's going to be in the movie, I hope she is given a role that is worth including.

People saying ditch Jane are way too reactionary. There's potential for a tremendous arc there with Thor and Jane, immortality vs weakness, choice and sacrifice and responsibility. They just need to focus on character development more this time.
TDW was more of an adventure romp that tried to do a lot with a fairly elaborate plot but within a very short runtime. They can't do that again. Even fans like me will start to complain.
One thing I felt Winter Soldier did exceptionally well was to keep Cap at the center of his own film. To understand his struggles and sacrifice and what drives him and makes him who he is. We need that for Thor in Ragnarok. I believe Marvel knows this and that we will get it.
