Switch The Official Nintendo Switch Thread - Part 2

Surprisingly good Direct, not nearly as many remakes from Nintendo as I expected. I mean, playing Zelda in a Zelda game alone is HUGE. A NEW Mario and Luigi game is a big shock.

I would not be shocked if Prime 2 and 3 remasters are in the works. Just remember, Prime was finished for a while before it released, so it isn't a quick job to release 2 and 3, 3 especially I think has some issues.
The time to release those would be now though. While people wait for 4, which is probably a Switch 2 game anyway. I like doing things chronologically, so I know for me personally I am not getting 4 day one if I am not caught up. I don't want to get like, all 3 games at too close of proximity cause I will not do 3 of those games at the same time. I may be a unicorn in this regard, but I am probably waiting on Switch 2 and playing 4 until I have ready access to the other ones

How dare you overlook The Wand of Gamelon? :D

New Zelda looks good. Marvel Capcom is a must buy. Wonder if Prime 4 will be cross platform between both Switch consoles.

I mean, technically, everything we saw is a Switch 2 game, since it has largely been reported to be backwards compatible.

And lets be honest, Remastering Prime 2 and 3 were likely not high priorities. Metroid is not really a top game for Nintendo, though that may be slowly changing.

I dont need them remastered, just playable. They did this for Pikmin last year. Absolutely no reason Prime 2 and 3 are not playable

I'd also say maybe the Prime trilogy could get some sort of re-release, but at the same time, the Prime remaster went over really well, so no reason not to do the same for Echoes and Corruption.

Also, not sure if it's definitive yet, but I hope that Marvel Capcom collection gets a physical release on Switch.

For a presentation based around a console as long in the tooth as the Switch, I thought it was a solid showcase. The new Zelda and Prime 4 look fantastic.
Give us a main game with the ability to play as both, you bastards! :argh:

God, the state of YouTube...40 minute breakdown videos off about 2 mins of footage for Prime 4? Really?

I know I am in the minority on this cause I dont play a million games like some, but really there just wasnt a ton for me in the direct. Outside of Marvel games and yeah, I am interested in Prime 4 but that again comes with personal frustration that 2 and 3 are still not available. But best direct ever? Yall gonna tell me that Nintendo didn't have better years when the Switch was in its prime? These breakdown videos are just...cringe to me

A sequel to one of Nintendo's beloved IPs who was almost abandoned due to Other M making a comeback to a formula as beloved as the Prime Trilogy! The thirst is real.

But is 1 getting enough to.make something the best ever? Prime 4 made up 2 mins of a 45 minute presentation where most of the other stuff was like Mario Party and such. Also, is 2 mins of footage worth a bunch of 40 min breakdown videos?

I am just gonna accept I am in the minority on this one and move on with my life lol

Nintendo fans, especially of their more... neglected properties, are a special breed. One streamer I follow is going nuts over MvC, but that is one of his favorite games.

When F-Zero Swtich happens be prepared for this. :funny:

Metroid was at one point very neglected, but can we call it that anymore? Dread came out a couple years ago. Prime Remastered was last year. Prime 4 is next year. All the NES, Gameboy, SNES, and GBA games were all added to NSO. Dread is no doubt getting a sequel. Metroid has been feasting for like 4 years.

That's still after a heavy drought, though. As you said, Dread came out a couple of years ago. As you know, neglected franchises like Metroid, F-Zero, or Star Fox don't have the staying power that franchises like Mario, Zelda, or even Kirby do. It's why even though it wasn't really a new game, F-Zero 99 being announced was a big deal because Nintendo actually acknowledged the franchise. That's applicable here too with Prime 4 not just because it's finally the sequel to Prime 3, but also considering how long ago this game was even announced.

It'd be like if we actually and finally got Beyond Good and Evil 2 after it sat on the shelf for so long. Metroid may be experiencing a sort of renaissance, but that's mostly due to Dread and, before that, Samus Returns. Metroid games never came out with the frequency of Mario or Zelda games, so yeah, and with how much Prime 4 has just sat in development, it's not only a big deal, but it's still fair game to call it a neglected franchise. Or at the very least, overlooked because, again, it's never been on the level of other franchises, despite how beloved the Prime series is. The older games being added to NSO are nice, but like F-Zero X coming to Switch, it feels more like Nintendo throwing those franchises a bone rather than coming out with something new. Even Prime Remastered, while great, was nothing new for the franchise.

To me it feels like Nintendo is trying to raise Metroid's profile. Games like Prime are certainly not cheap, so I don't think it's about throwing those franchises a bone. It's about marketing them to new audiences. Which is another reason I think not having 2 and 3 ready to go right now was dumb. They just revealed this game after 7 years, hype is at an apex for it. Now was the time to give these people something to spend money on right now and try to expand the audience for it. Which I think is their goal.

Was it Maximillian Dood? He is absolutely in love with and a champion for that game and franchise, has been wanting it to be officially released for years now and absolutely let out a couple of high-pitched screams during the announcement. That man’s passion absolutely cannot be understated. :funny:

A new F-Zero game? Don't you tease me.

But really, that would be nice. Honestly, at this point, I'll take a remaster of GX and be satisfied. Still glad that I have my GameCube disc because first-party Nintendo titles from that era are...very expensive!
