The Official Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Picture, News and Information Thread!

I don't like ppl who bash really popular things because they don't like it and think it's "rebel" to go against the grain but i don't get worked up about it and since when did you decide what was peoples motives for saying they enjioyed something ? just ignore it and focus on a movie that does interest you:up:

Well said. People are allowed their own opinion. Because you don't like something doesn't make it bad.

Personally, Pirates is my favorite film so far this year. If you didn't like it fine, accept that alot of people did.

Hunter you know how I feel. I don't dislike Pirates, I just find it ludacris that people saying it's the new Star Wars or the movie rivals that of Indiana Jones, or LOTR.

Yeah and i agree it isn't in their league but it's BO is pushing it commercially into their league all i'm saying is that there is no need to take the approach some in here are of trying to brow beat ppl into saying it's crap and they only like it b/c it's popular

Well then I can get onto the topic of inflation but I really don't have the energy for that. LOL :(

Seriously i date back to the older franchises like you and well LOTR is a very different deal IMO but while i think Sparrow is a classic character like Indy the films don't match up to the Indy movies quality IMO and to suggest it will have the cultural impact of SW or that DMC measures up to ESB as a middle part i think is going overboard on the hyperboletrain

I've lightened my stance and criticism of DMC because most of you have a point, it's a fun movie and I can see that. Just most people are going overboard by making it more out of the movie than it actually is.

like I said, it's certainly not as good as Indiana Jones, but if you really look at it, Indiana Jones wasn't that story-heavy, and there wasn't much character development.

makes you wonder if IJ would've been as well recieved as it was had it been released nowadays.

That's how I've always felt about Star Wars in general.

I agree, people are too eaily pleased, X3 was a shabby movie, no two words about it. Although the question in your poll is obvious to answer, it's marketing and the previous film, it's those easily fooled people again!

(BTW, what are your fav few films?)

I didn't even like the first movie. The marketing got me looking forward to a great follow up to a mediocre film, and I wasn't disappointed.

The only part I have to agree about Indiana Jones is that each movie follows the same plot of Indy trying to retrieve a historical artifact. Character wise, I think it's alright. I think the 3rd movie and the dynamic he has with his father shows some development.

Well i think this movie deserved all the attention it's getting because it was certainly an awesome flick. But aside from that, I also thought the soundtrack for this movie was cool. I just admire Zimmer's compositions and the way he put all of them together to fit for this movie. I mean, it must've take so much time to complete. Have you guys heard the soundtrack?

Last i checked as of wednsdays total it was at 334 million. So by the end of the weekend this film should be 350 million. So i can see this film atleast going over Spiderman 2 and even Revenge Sith domestic total of 380 at very least. Who knows the bow out total of this film.

i wish i could say i wasn't dissappointed. when i first heard they were doing a sequel i was like no ****ing way! that movie is too perfect to get ruined by a sequel! it had it's moments but it dragged...a lot. i'm glad most people enjoyed it though, and i'm actually happy it made a lot of money. regardless of my dislikeness for this movie....i'm still seeing the 3rd installment

I just saw it today for the first time. It might not be a classic but there's still a hell of a lot of fun to be had here. I can see how it appeals to different demographics so well.

I saw Dead Mans Chest again. And while i still enjoyed the filma nad thaught it was good. I still kinda have a fondness for Curse Of The Black Pearl as the better movie. I will add Dead Mans Chest to my dvd when it comes out but Pearl was still better. I however do believe this was good set up film for an even bigger better film in Pirates 3.

Well its going to come awful close to hitting the billion mark.

Yeah it is. I knew this film would make money but I didnt think it would do numbers like this even though I loved it.
