The book dropped today and I didn't find a thread on it so here it is. Overall I really did enjoy how Yost finally managed to do what other writers failed to do with Tim

address explicitly how he's starting to be more and more like Bruce by having him call himself Tim Wayne. "Tim Drake would know better" was perfect as was the explanation for why he chose the Red Robin mantle. The scene at the batcave though was the biggest highlight, seeing Tim lay Damian down was priceless and Damian's snarkiness was also quite hilarious.

overall this one seems like it would be worth following and is probably my favorite read of the 3 premiere issues of the "new era" so far.

By the end of this book Tim better be the sweet, neurotic worrywart he used to be, because him right now, just isn't Tim. It's like a newbie Batfan's idea of what a "cool" Robin should be.

It doesn't feel like any "Robin" at all oh and I don't want Tim to just regress either. All the **** he was put through the last couple of years on Robin plus what he went through with losing Bruce = it's understandable why he is reacing this way. Only someone who put down the books and picked them back up to put them back down would think otherwise. If you've been following Tim consistently for the past few years then you could see why he is the way he is. He started being more "brooding" since the end of Young Justice.

Tim Wayne i raise my hat to you, continue the legacy oh Bruce Wayne 2.0 :) I mean its no wonder he wouldn't be Robin for the writers standpoint because you'd have 2 unbeatable Batmen then. ^^;

I wasnt too keen on the art though. When he was not in costume, he was his normal size, but in the costume, he was jacked.

Other than that I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book and plan on getting it monthly. I was never a fan of the Robin solo series, but this I really like.

Even Bruce was more jacked as batman but yeah Tim is like taller and twice as big as red robin. Personally this red robin is just a gray area Tim is experiencing. I like the red robin suit though. Its got the batman vibe but actually looks like a bird. But back to his size, how big is he. Red robin looks like a grown man but other artist would have tim look like a small guy(since he's a kid)

I completely agree with you. He should not be overly muscular as he has been portrayed in the first issue. To be honest, he looked liked a guy that was in his late 20's to early 30's. Tone down the massive muscle mass and I have no problem at all with it.

I wasn't planning on getting this series so I read this in the store and bought Batman 687 home. I wish I'd done the reverse. Red Robin's gonna be a good book. This is one of the best batman issues I've read in a while. Underground and the Azrael mini being the last few before that.

Didn't Tim already beat down Damian once in "The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul" (where Damian claimed that Tim was "killing" him)? With that said, I'll probably pick up the comic.

And I would like to add that I would like to see Tim take down Jason sometime. It seems that Jason's always kicking his ass whenever they fight (not counting the time Tim kicked him in the junk).

I enjoyed it, and it somewhat makes me happy Tim is not being set aside so Dick Grayson can be Batman. It was interesting to me to have Red Robin come out cause now it seems like Nightwing starting out as a hero. Tim went through a lot and his change in behavior makes sense to me.

I hope he does well as Red Robin, or gains some standing outside of the Bat Family. An issue to me is that Tim to every hero and villian he encounters is this amazing detective, a good fighter, and much more. I saw him as being Batman, cause at the core Batman is a detective to me. So I have to live with Red Robin as the more physical Dick Grayson holds the cowl till Bruce comes back.

That's the only part of Morrison's run that I never read that story screamed "marketing gimmick" way too loudly for my tastes so I avoided it. All I know is that it was fun to read in the context of Red Robin. I lol'ed at "maybe the batgirl costume is available".

I also find it funny how Tim basically represents the more "Bruce Wayne is Batman and nobody else" is part of the fanbase while Dick represents the one that's able to accept change. I just found it interesting since Tim began as a fan of Batman & Robin in the first place.

I plan on reading all of Red Robin because I've loved Tim Drake/WAYNE for a long long time, but I'm upset that he has such a crappy name. "Red Robin" sounds like a resturant chain, not a super hero.

Tim "crosses the line". Dick doesn't like the fact that Tim "crossed the line". Dick confronts Tim. Epic battle begins.

Dick will find out Tim is working with Ra's and go after him. Fight ensues, Damian is punched once more by Tim, the Bat Family has another issue to deal with.

Firstly... I love Red Robin, especially the new sliders, just not the comic book superhero name.

Secondly... Tim comes back to town and tells Dick he's got a lead on Bruce's whereabouts. He asks for Dick's help but Dick refuses saying he's got to stay in Gotham. Tim calls him a ***** and beats him up. Tim goes and get's Bruce Wayne-Batman... Now there's two Batmans and Two Robins and they fight... Morrison Calls the Arc "Double Trouble" sales soar.

I think it's funny how Tim grew to an adult in a matter of a few issues

Hes been shown more adult/muscular for a while now, tho Dustin Nguyen kept drawing him like a kid. :p

Realistically he should be much "older" than Nguyen drew him. Even in comic continuity it really doesn't make sense for him to still be 15.

If I'm not mistaken they did something similar to Dick. He was still Robin the Teen Wonder right up until he was mid-20s Nightwing who he was up until he was early 30s Batman.

#4 details here!

RED ROBIN #4
Written by Christopher Yost
Art by Ramon Bachs
Cover by Francis Manapul

"The Grail" part 4 of 4!

In this explosive conclusion to the debut arc, Red Robin's search leads him to the deserts of the Middle East with the League of Assassins by his side. How many lines will he cross to prove that Bruce Wayne is alive? One journey ends, but a far deadlier one begins as Red Robin learns the truth – although he may not survive to tell anyone, because back in Gotham City, Red Robin faces off with the one man who could stop his quest: Batman!

Ok...I have to know.

Red Robin came from KINGDOM COME, last I knew. How did Tim come up with the exact same idea, right down to the costume design, that an adult Dick Grayson did in KINGDOM COME?

Because Jason Todd recieved it from a parallel Batman and wore the costume during his multiverse adventures, then discarded it once returning it home, only to have one of Tim's enemies take up its mantle to use against Tim.

Tim apparently has decided to use it since he's no longer Robin and wants to distance himself and his actions away from Dick and Bruce so they're not affiliated with him when he crosses lines.
