It's difficult picking just five though, i had to leave a few other faves out :(

Daniel Craig, I love RDJ but he wasn't my favorite part about the Avengers and Skyfall was one of Daniel Craig's finest films.

RDJ but no Bale?

Ehh, either way...I vote for Daniel Day Lewis. He even acted as good ol' Abe when the cameras weren't rolling.

Daniel Day Lewis took on the role Lincoln, who is almost some type of American deity now, and made him human and believable in a very compelling way. Definitely gets my vote.

Of the nominated, RDJ. Never liked his Stark better. Nailing the funny bits better than ever, but also giving his performance a bigger sense of depth than before in the more dramatic scenes.

I have to say, while DDL is the obvious winner, Craig deserves a ton of credit as well. The emotion and personality that he's imbibed his Bond with is truly spectacular and - I think - is one of the best interpretations of a franchise character ever.

Absolutely. The cool of Connery with the dark introspection of Dalton. An excellent blend which goes together really well. Mixed in with his own rougher style.

The character arcs have helped too. CR - new 00 earning his stripes, quitting MI6 with what is left of his soul (meaning it will continue to be whittled away in the future) and Vesper molding/reaffirming his views. QoS - blinded by rage and choosing to spare Yusef at the end, achieving a sense of peace and acceptance - "forgive her, forgive yourself". SF - Staying dead, coming back to service with an injury and recommiting/resurrecting himself 100 per cent to a new M "with pleasure".

Joaquin Phoenix - The Master

Even though I thought the film was a mess.

Hugh Jackman comes 2nd.
