The Official Superman Casting & Discussion Thread

If one visits CBM you do so knowing that a lot of the news there is "rumor" news and generally is noted as that. Most of the articles do state that it is rumor and "take it with a grain of salt". A couple of the editors there do have some good exclusive interviews and reports from time to time. In this case, someone reported what was first reported as a rumor on the Superman Homepage site, noted that it was rumor and then updated saying one of their reporters did find out that it was not legitimate.

Some people like to debate and discuss rumors and that is a big part of what makes CBM tick.

Just because they say "Take it with a grain of salt" doesn't mean they didn't just make it. That site has literally cooked up fake interviews with people (including one with Christian Bale awhile back). They're that bad.

If they wanted to be legit, they wouldn't just let anyone open an account and start posting stuff. Just because they have a policy to pull anything fake doesn't excuse them from being hacks.

More "captain america" or "Thor" than Superman, mate.

Yeah he definitely has a good look for those too. But dye his hair black and I think he'd look like Superman as well.

Isn't comedy supposed to one of the hardest things to do? And by all accounts, I find him hilarious in BMS. Total drama queen.:woot:

But I haven't seen him in anything other BMS & Smallville, so I couldn't say he's a bad actor. Maybe he hasn't had the oppertunities to stretch his chops.

He's basically doing fratboy humour. That doesn't require much. Maybe he's better than what he's shown, but I until I see something telling me otherwise, I doubt it.

He's great in his role in BMS though. That bit with Stacy Keibler had me rolling

So if I put a picture of myself in a Superman costume on a movie set, will people believe I got the role?

Too late for I have already gotten the role

The Geoff Ward thing could be from an actual screen test. This early on they may not have anything close to the costume complete, and so using something like hat would not be surprising.

Similarly the green screen set up would likely be pretty basic.

They would still use costumes from the previous films. Bale tested for Batman in Kilmer's suit. If Smallville can get the SR suit on loan I'd say it's pretty safe to assume they'll use that or one of the previous attempts' suits. If this were the first film in the franchise, maybe. But in this case the McG, Ratner, Burton and SR suits do exist somewhere in the WB backlot, and I sincerely doubt they wouldn't use them for casting in a role of this magnitude for the studio.

Continuing to be on a roll.

Is that why Routh tested in a blue t-shirt with a bit of red material over his shoulders? . . .

That said , the 'test' is obviously fake imo. . .

Alonsovich is running a clinic today on common sense and studio practices! Bravo.

It's possible the pictures are shopped, that I won't deny. But I find it hard someone who is interested in the role can convince a bunch of friends for a prank that really has no audience. Seems very time consuming to come up with a hoax and take a few pictures in hopes that it lands at WB. Especially when they would look negatively on it. The only situation I see is that they are all film students and had the equipment already, but they have a pretty convincing costume. Some of you say the suit looks fake but I say that suit is good enough or better than what I see them using at a screentest at this point in production.
I guess it comes down to 4 scenarios.
1. Ward and his friends are delusional and thinks this is how you get a real screentest by faking a screentest to garner interest even though he is an actor and knows better.
2. Ward has no interest in the role and he and his buddies have gathered film equipment and a suit to try and fool comic book forum goers.
3. Photos are shoppped.
4. Photos were leaked.

This Geoff Ward guy seems to be taking the Joe M approach to another level. He clearly set this "screentest" up himself, i mean come on just look at the pictures it clearly looks staged.

Listen, just because CBM has some screw ups doesn't mean they should be called ******s. Which is distasteful and rude. Especially coming from someone as "professional" as Jamie.

I'm pretty sure the WB and Snyder screentest crews usually pose with the "yo dude, whassup" attitude in front of an iPhone like if they didn't have anything else to do, hadn't signed non-disclosure agreements and didn't have a producer, a casting director, a film director and WB execs in the near by to call their attention...:o

I'm sure there are 2 sentences somewhere in there. Are you saying that the crew have signed non-disclosure contracts and wouldn't allow themselves to be photoed? I'm not even sure what you are saying. Personally the photos are pretty candid. If I were a crew member I could care less if my photo was taken. The only person I see being in trouble would be the guy with the camera and his friend that let him in. Geoff Ward in this case.

Personally I think both forums lack professionalism. There is an attitude of "we are better than them". Both sides are also guilty of posting things without providing proof at times.

Yes, they have non-disclosure contracts. No, they (and the security guards) wouldn't have allowed to take a pic. Yes, if you were a crew member you would care because you would be fired from your job.

I really doubt WB would fire everyone for being in a photo. Everyone has a camera phone these days.

Point is, someone (or someones) would be fired for such pictures leaking, and anyone working on a set would know this, so, really... it's doubtful there would be smiling, thumbs-up candid shots being taken willy-nilly.

And not everyone has a non-disclosure agreement with automatic contract termination if that point fails...

Geoff Ward is not Superman. The photos are fake. I hope people aren't still taking these seriously.
