Redskull told me I should make one, so here I am. :funny: Am planning to go as Catwoman for the TDKR midnight premiere (my first!) so I figured I might as well get started now before everyone jumps on the bandwagon. :oldrazz:

This is pretty much my first time making any sort of costume (seriously) so I'd appreciate any help sourcing stuff. I'm a n00b, so my first and only source is prett much ebay. :oldrazz: Not aiming for 100% accuracy since from what I understand, it's damn hard, but gonna try my best while still keeping my sanity.

The boots are pretty basic - thigh-high boots with wedge heels. I already bought a pair from ebay. It has extra stitches but...eh.

The gloves look more complicated. Still debating whether to just buy leather elbow-length opera gloves and calling it a day.

I was probably the only person not staring at Catwoman's butt in the rest of those close-up shots, since I was watching how the fabric moved so I could figure out what it's made out of. :oldrazz: Still torn between latex and lycra, but considering it's really hot and humid over in Pittsburgh and that the stuntwoman doesn't look like she's dripping in a big puddle of sweat and can obviously move around easily, I'm leaning toward lycra. :funny: Of course Ebay sells lycra catsuits for pretty cheap, but it's not the exact design nor texture. I think it'll be the texture that's the trickiest.

The belt looks simple enough but I think we'll need more close-up shots of it to see what the pouches are made out of.

What will definitely be the most difficult for me to source are the goggles. I wear glasses, am blind without them, and can't do contacts because my eyes are dry. (For the midnight premiere, I'd really like to be able to watch the movie, thank you very much.) So they will have to be OTG goggles. Considering whether to wait and see if someone eventually gets around to making OTG replicas, or getting a pair of OTG goggles off the shelf and doing...something....Kind of clueless as to how to proceed with that.

You're going to want to go with either a wetsuit of sorts (which wont look 100% right) or a lycra suit, which will be more expensive. I'm kind of hoping you expert prop makers and costumers on here will be able to help Anita out with the goggles in due time before the movie comes out. Until we see better how the goggles function in the movie (possibly doubling as ears) in a trailer or official photos, I'd wait on engineering those.

So I definitely jumped the gun on the boots, since Anne Hathaway was spotted on set in the Catwoman costume wearing 6-inch stilettos with a metal heel. :funny:

This is the closest thing I could find http://www.stilettostyle.com/6metalheelthighhighblackboots.aspx

Wouldn't wear those anyway. It was suggested that I hint at the metal by painting on the back of the wedges with a paint pen. :awesome:

I honestly cant wait to see you in complete Catwoman getup. LOL :woot: :hrt:

Good thinking Anita, I was actually considering posting this when I saw some of the other costume threads surfacing.

I too have been planning to wear a Catwoman-inspired outfit, or full Catwoman costume to the TDKR premiere.
I was Catwoman for Halloween '09 but am hoping to work on the suit and make some alterations to the accessories. Think I need new goggles, the ones I have aren't cat-like enough.
Not sure if I want to do the Nolan look exactly. I'm thinking a little more Arkham City Catwoman right now, but we'll see.

I fully support seeing all you ladies dressed as Catwoman  :cwink:

Ladies, for those who still intend to dress up as Catwoman for Halloweens for come or more importantly the Midnight showing, here's that better look.

Anytime; it's a real peach of a costume. Love it!!! Did you use just tactical goggles or are you going to work on the mechanism to they flip up like ears?

Ahhh, RedSkull linked me to it yesterday. Great job! Although I'm probably too small to wear it and I'm still waiting on official stills to be sure. :)

Not that I'd ever go for 100% authenticity anyway, but yeah. Someone will definitely be getting an awesome Catwoman costume for Halloween. :yay:

Pulling this up to show off my new ACTUAL Catwoman shoes. :funny:

It actually does up to my mid-thigh and it looks pretty accurate, aside from a little extra stitching on the upper and lack of platform. And "only" 4-inch heels, but I'm not a stiletto wearer AT ALL and I could walk pretty well in these! Adding a platform would just have been a little ridiculous on me, especially if I wanted to wear those later....

Also got my lycra suit, but it looks kind of dumb without the waffle texture. Oh wells, only thing to do now is work out more so it fills out instead of wrinkling like a sad thing. :funny:
