If he is an A-Lister how come his movies for the most part have been crap ? Hell even Kristin is doing a Summer Blockbuster Movie before him & is the main character of that movie :o Quite sad. What Tom needs to do is get into high profile movies & even if he has to be the "partner" of the main star. Tom is far from an A-Lister

He was an A-Lister that night.

Being a social A-Lister isn't necessarily the same as being a big movie star. That particular evening wasn't just about the movie industry - it was more of a FASHION event, that happens to draw various celebrities. On the heels of his inclusion in the current Vogue magazine shoot, Tom's certainly on someone's A list to get one of the 100 only invites to Clooney's party.

Tom's doing pretty damn well for someone who really hasn't been available for any BIG movies for 8 years. He's carried a successful TV show that's made Superman history and at the same time he's been in 3 PROFIT-MAKING movies, as well as accumulating 3 Directing credits under his belt.

You're right that Tom's not a big Hollywood A-lister - yet. Give him time. ;)

except he looks about 50 times better:)

Agreed!

I think it says a lot that he's a TV star invited to a birthday party for George Clooney with only a 100 invited guests.

Other guests being Tom Cruise, Clooney and Julia Roberts among others...

Worst SUPERMAN Yes, But He was The BEST (Mild Mannered Reporter) CLARK KENT EVER . IMO he still holds that title .

Tom is def a TV A-Lister. Starring on the biggest scripted show on CW for 8 years, bringing Superman to our TVs longer than anyone else has... def A-List. Also, he plays Clark Kent every week, ofcourse he was at the superhero costume opening!

I don't recall Dean's Clark Kent, but if the few scenes we have seen of Tom is any indication of what could be, I think he could take Dean's title.

Hi, Serene. It's good to see you posting here again.

I couldn't agree more with your post. If Tom doesn't make it BIG after SV it'll surprise the heck out of me! That gala was the hottest ticket in town and everybody who is anybody in entertainment, fashion or NY social life was there (Tom has connections in all three), so to be included in that evening's lineup says a lot. Also, two guys from CAA (top agents Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane) were on the guest list for Clooney's birthday party. That's Tom's agency and I wouldn't doubt it if all this recent exposure is a part of CAA's strategy for when his schedule opens up next year. :cwink:

DC's Clark Kent wasn't a bumbling idiot like Routh & Reeve's portrayal of The Mild Mannered Reporter -Clark Kent in The Superman films . DC's portrayal C.K. was that of a gutsy, hard-boiled crime reporter who openly competes with Lois Lane for the Daily Planet's plum assignments.

Welling Showed he's got the look in "Noir" & "Apocalypse" but hasn't fully shown if he's going to be "The Bumbling Idiot" Clark or "The tough Ace Reporter" .

Thanks for the info! :yay:

Oh WOW... those photos of Tom in his tux are GORGEOUS!

With all the other "couples" there, it would have been nice if Jamie had graced his arm. I love the fact that he is reported to be happily married.

A drop dead gorgeous person is even MORE attractive if they seem to be a GOOD person too. The fact that I don't see Tom's face all over the tabloids is FINE with me. :)

you know, I really liked Cain's portrayal of CK and was really hoping Welling would be going down that route but with the producers saying the show will allign with movie mythology, I was kind of disappointed that he will end up being the bumbling nerd. Reeve created that look for the movie, but people seem to think that that is the definitive Clark Kent. I really want to see that gutsy Clark Kent again who openly rivals Lois for DP assignments. :csad:

Tom could be the new guy in Oceans 14 joining the gain like Matt Damon was in the original :woot:

I don't think Tom's version of Clark at the DP will be the bumbling version. The two shots of "reporter Clark in glasses" so far (the one in "Noir" and the most recent one in "Apocalypse") were a brief shout out to CR but in "Apocalypse" he took the glasses off and did not continue playing Clark that way after that one shot.

I loved Ocean's 11, somewhat enjoyed Ocean's 12 but was bored with Ocean's 13, so it would definitely take something like Tom being cast to draw me back to another Ocean's adventure. :cwink:

its nice to see Tom trimming off some of that excess fat

unfortunately he's losing a bit of size too

kinda like christian bale in TDK

i'd rather have this look though than the pudgy tom

and those beer gut pics were horrendous rofl

I've seen the one used on promos, but not this one... can you post the others?

I've been posting exclusive stuff on ym LJ from time to time. Most of it recently regarding Supernatural and it's actors.

But I'm toying with the idea of posting Smallville ones. Probably including some of the flying Tom ones.
