Look like a USFL team will play in Arkon's former home...

:o you be a hater, Manofbat?

Latest news kinda reeks of UFL Fail...in a way, no mention of a tv contract. But I imagine CBS Sports Network would be likely.

  1. Players will make $2,500 a game. Seasonal salary of $30,000 to $35,000
  2. Buy in to own a team is $1 Million. But must also have another $6.5M to run team for the season.
  3. I would post more, but there's a pay-wall(?!) and I messed up.
  4. Oh, I think it says %500M to build the staidums/other stuff in area around them...Ummm..in less than a year. Okaaaaaaay.
Here is more info though.

Cuadra says if all goes according to plan, the new USFL will be a true development league, a homegrown version of the late, great NFL Europe. And, for now, most of the teams will be owned by the league — including the two Texas teams.

“The aim is to build the teams and get them sustainable for the next two, three years and have outside interests purchase them,” he said. “We’re going to strive to put a quality product on the field and give the league its own identity.”

Christ... you can make more money playing in the CFL... :yay:

I loved the USFL back in the '80's... I wasa big Wranglers' fan...

I just said "Wow" because it seems unreal that they would try and revive the league... especially with those ridiculously low salaries... like I said, you can make more in the CFL... which has always been a good breeding league for the NFL.... Warren Moon anyone?

Is this supposed to be a revival of the old USFL? I was a very small child at the time.

In some ways it will be. They bought rights from the old owners of the USFL, and will probably bring back some of the old teams.

I'm just excited for year round Football. :)

Except that they won't declare war against the NFL. In fact, they have said that the NFL can have unfettered access to USFL talent.

I suspect they're doing this to prevent the NFL from starting it's own spring minor league.

Doesn't look like some old teams could return. From what I've seen all the teams will be in non-NFL cities.

Lots of old USFL teams were in NFL cities.
