I like Routh but I don't mind having fun with those that disagree. Or even agree. I believe in equal opportunity fun. ;)

If they want Routh they should make a sequel. Doing a franchise reboot with the same actor is completely ridiculous. No Routh!

    Ridiculous to you maybe.

I've posted before why I personally dont see a recast in a reboot as being essential.

I doubt we have to wait too long before we start hearing something, that is *IF* the IESB rumor is true.....

If it is true, I expect them to come out pretty quickly and explain that THIS will be a different film, this one will have all the action etc etc, yada yada, that you wanted in the last one.
Then I expect them to say, we really liked routh, ALOT, and we would be proud for him to be OUR and YOUR Superman in the reboot.

OR, they could say something like........

We really liked Brandon as Superman in SR, but we feel like we need to go in a totally new direction since this is a reboot, and we couldnt do that with him and avoid confusion with the public and the fans. Thats why we are opening up a search for a brand new Superman. We already have a VERY short list of actors. We wish Brandon all the luck in the world.

On the subject of Jimmy Olsen - I want a cross between the animated series Olsen and the version played by Justin Whalen on 'Lois & Clark'.

I do NOT want to revisit comedy relief Jimmy.

Who was the better Jimmy - Michael Landes or Justin Whalen?

Kinda rough that Landes supposedly got replaced simply because execs thought he and Cain looked to similiar and it was confusing audiences.

I always thought that Landes got replaced because he was too old for the part.

He got replaced because of the similarity in looks with Cain.

You heard that too, huh DD?

That is one harsh break. There was nothing wrong with the guys perfomance but they got rid of him after a season because he looked to much like the lead. wtf?

I mean, what, they couldnt have come to that decision during casting? I'm pretty sure they knew what both men looked like before shooting started.

Seriously, how would you not take that one to heart? Landes is probably a drunk now, drowning his sorrows and thoughts of what couldve been, recalling stories of how he was Jimmy Olsen to anyone who'll listen.

Whatever man. I can just see John Q. Public saying "I thought this was a new take on Superman, what the hell is the guy from Superman Returns doing in this film".

Yeah, because thats what they'll be saying when theyre presented with a brand new origin and its spelled out to them that this is a restart going in a fresh direction through the course of the film.

Just how dumb do you think the average moviegoer is?

Let me add to this. These are the same people who would continually ask me if Batman Begins was a prequel to Batman 89.

Maybe thats just your friends than. When Batman Begins came out "reboot" was still a new term, some confusion is certainly warranted. The general public is not that stupid but Routh should still be recast.

I only say he probably won't get cast because Hollywood never makes good decisions with casting. There are so few movies that are actually well-cast. It's because Hollywood doesn't care if the actor is right for the part, only that they bring in $. So just going by the percentages, chances are unlikely that a good Superman will be cast, and especially one particular guy that we're focusing on here.

That being said, hey, anything can happen, and if Henry Cavill gains more support amongst fans, then maybe he could get cast. Who knows?

Actually, Landes had another show a few years later. I think I watched a few times and thought it was a reasonably good show. Something to do with paranormal research. Kind of a light hearted X Files.

Not excessively but they could use a little push in the right direction. That's why a reboot should take it right back to the beginning ... right to Krypton. Not only would it make it easier for the GP to get on board but it would cement that this is a brand new take. It would also give us a chance to get a better version of Krypton in the public eye. No More Ice Planet Crystaline Krypton with Jor-el as an ersatz God The Father.
