The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The one, the only SPIDEY Costume thread!

The first suit did what it needed to do: Establish that Peter is a Teenager that put something together with random stuff.

The second suit shows growth.

Yeah. Symbolism I guess. Also his wardrobe/appearance imo. Teenagers are always changing styles (as am I). But I think his less "grungy" look plays into that too.

It was such an excellent rendition that they threw it all away and redid it completely.

So, just because they changed the suit means they thought it was poor? Or could it be that regardless of the quality, maybe the suit wasn't fully accepted as it wasn't the 'classic'? Who knows. I don't. And I'm sure you don't either.

You see to find it hard to accept that there are people who actually think the TASM suit is an excellent suit. I think one must chill out and accept this.

It's changed. Nothing can be done, in the end, I just want a film that will equal/surpass TASM.

Best spidey suit yet. love the eyes, and the folds and wrinkles remind me of alex ross's spidey. my one little complaint is the red on the back of the shoulders that looks like a "M". I'd make it a straight line and throw in a spider-tick. but anyway, ya, its the best spidey costume ever.

I'm actually pretty sure it is a straight line. It just looks like an "M" there because his shoulders are back so the suits bunched up

Oh damn. You're right. That is kinda wierd. But I agree in general. If i had to come up with a complaint about the suit, even if that part was straight and not an "M," I'd say i'm not a fan of the back of the suit just not being completely straight all the way across the whole back. But minor minor gruff

I remember two years ago when there was so much hate for the costume, and now that we got the more classic look, people want it back. I'm just happy they kept the slick long spider logo.

Yeah at first one of my complaints was the back spider was too thin but it grew on me.

The round spider doesn't translate well IMO, but that is just an opinion. I would just have the back spider from Raimi, but the rest of the suit from ASM2

Yep. Its not even a nit pick. I love the thin spider on the back. Frankly, I would be fine with no spider on the back, but the suit is literally 99.99% for me.

For some reason, I could see the tick working in a TV series...idk why.

Btw, ^ that pic of him hanging on with one arm— the blue looks textured well there.

I agree. I think this is from when they filmed at Lincoln Center in NYC.

"My brother says he saw him building a nest a lincoln center!"

The round spider works in cartoons, but I would't want it used in a movie.

Agreed. Though I do think the overall costume is improved with the back spider from either the Raimi/Webb films.

I love the modifications to the back of the suit. I wouldn't change anything about it.

Yup. They definitely kept hints of the first suit. Including the lines in the blue. They're kinda like seams this time around. You can see them in the photo above with him hanging with one arm.

I think there should be a poll in this "is it awesome or is it awesome?" thread, with only two options: "awesome" and "awesome."

Suit is excellent. I loved the costume of the Raimi trilogy, thought it was probably the best movie superhero costume ever. And aas much as I enjoyed Amazing Spider-Man, it felt to me like the costume was fixing what wasn't broken just for the sake of being different. So I was overjoyed to see the classic costume return for this film, perhaps even further refined from the beloved Tobey Maguire version to make this the new gold standard of perfectly-adapted superhero movie costumes.

My only nitpick is the one nitpick that has remained through every Spider-Man suit: that the soles of the feet have treads like shoes. Technically speaking, if his feet are going to stick to walls as well as his hands are, the feet of the costume would have to be like the gloves over his hands, basically like running around in stockingfeet or socks. But I concede this is a ridiculously minor complaint that has no bearing on the overall quality of the costume.

they do look like seams.

yeah I also though the design of the webbing in the second costume may be raised webbing like Raimi's version is but the design of the webbing itself matches the first Webb costume webbing(well at least the upper half of the webbing) to me. It looks like a perfect meld of Mark Bagley ultimate Spider-man costume, the Raimi suit and the first ASM Costume.

IMO, I don' think the back spider works in live action. I'm so happy that Raimi/Webb did not use it.

Absoutely agree, the big tick doesn't work cinematically for me at all. I far prefer the design that Webb has now.
