The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The one, the only SPIDEY Costume thread!

I think they will include TASM suit in the beginning because I remember seeing Garfield's stunt double wearing it... Unless they cut that part out. Which would be extremely disappointing.

The stunt double claimed that the pic was from the making of the first movie.

Enjoyed the first suit. Love the second suit

I didn't like the eye change on the new suit, but I'm starting to warm up to it.

I liked the ASM suit but I prefer this one

I also agree about this one looking cheaper, I think it's the fabric...

I don't even mind that this suit looks cheaper. To me, the ASM1 suit looked like it was more difficult to put together than this ASM2 suit.

Nah see, the eyes MAKE the suit for this one. Otherwise it'd look to similar to the Raimi Spidey.
The eyes make him really look like Spidey, the colours are better and the webbing is cool + accurate. The logo is a little better than Raimi, but I prefer the first suit's.

Overall I can't decide which I prefer ASM1 or 2.
The first was very unique and breathed new life. At first I was against the suit change but now I really dig it.
Can't wait for a figure.

I already know this new suit is my favorite. It pretty much fulfills all that I wanted for the suit since before ASM1, and I'm very happy that they made the big bug eyes look good. The ASM1 suit looks breathtaking on screen after post-production work, so I'm sure they'll work wonders with this suit as well.

I like the texture in ASM. With the AsM2 eyes, that suit would be even more amazing.

Besides the poor quality SDCC footage, we've yet to see the suit in action. I can't wait.

I will miss the ASM suit. It was one that grew on me over time and wasn't until I saw the movie that I truly fell in love with the design. It's not perfect by any means imo but it had great qualities--the texture, colors, and slim design.

The suit for ASM2 is about as close to perfection as I could ask a Spidey suit to be in terms of its classic/comic look and feel. The colors, eyes, web design, etc.--in a word; beautiful. That being said, it's such a stark transition from the ASM suit I wish they would have just modified the ASM suit with some tweaks here and there instead of a complete overhaul. I'm not complaining since I adore the new one however I would have liked a more gradual progression.

I agree with everything. And was the same way. We've yet to see it on actual film. Hopefully it doesn't change our opinion.

I do not miss the ASM suit one bit. The new suit looks great.

I thought the first suit looked good in the promotional stuff but was ok on screen. I thought it was really creative looking. This new suit looks well... AMAZING!

I absolutely adore this costume

I don't have the best eye for this but now that we have some great shots of the new costume, is there a good breakdown or side by side compare and contrast of this suit against the Raimi suit?

I'm don't see a whole lot of difference except the narrower red torso and webbing being less raised.

I liked the ASM suit after living with it for a bit. At first it was too out there, but I came around to it.

The new one is a big improvement, though there are a few nitpicky things I don't like.

The eyes aren't quite right for me. I'd like to have seen a thicker black border by reducing the size and taking out some of the roundness of the white eye part. He looks surprised all of the time. I think something like this would be perfect:

It's subtle but makes a big difference IMO.

I also noticed that in some shots the suit looks a little loose and there's a bunch of wrinkling:

The last one is surely CGI, so the wrinkly look seems to be intentional. I'm not a fan.

And I'd also have stayed away from raised webbing. Though not a crazy as the Raimi suits, I think going with the ASM webbing would've been the way to go: thinner and more embedded.

Going back to the eyes, what would you guys think of having them CGI where they could be animated? You know, to have them change when Spidey is angry, concentrating, surprised, etc. Too creepy?

shabadoo - that last shot is real. compare it to the previous shot.

I noticed that they somewhat have embraced the wrinkling. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I don't think it's bothering me however. It's probably intended for realism.

They nailed a LOT about the suit this time. Arguably the feel of a lot of it is still very much in line with the Raimi films, but the slimmer frame, and the eyes, make a world of difference, especially in motion.

I would have liked to see them retain at least SOMETHING from the first ASM film's suit, same goes for the overall aesthetic of the film. Have some confidence/commitment in what you've established at least.

Still, I'm very happy with what we are seeing so far (outside of yet another ****ing butchered Goblin.)

Ehhhhh Depends on the Artist with the eyes, that pic shown looks morle like 90's artwork from the TASM comics. The eye piece from new suit looks like Mark Bagley's Spider-man from the USM comics.

My feeling as well. I really loved the ASM suit a lot. There were a few things that I thought could change or be improved (gold eyeshields, stripes down the leg, silver trim on boots, add a belt), but on the whole I didn't want them to completely overhaul.

When I saw the ASM2 suit for the first time, I didn't like it as much in comparison. I really was missing the ASM suit look and feel. I've since really warmed up to the ASM2 suit. When I see the ASM suit now the eyes seems too small.

However, I do feel that same thing others have mentioned of the ASM2 suit feeling somehow cheaper. And texturally I still prefer the ASM suit.

Overall, they're both great, and my ideal suit would be a combination of the 2 designs. Probably keep most of the ASM suit fabrics and design, but add the eyes, belt, boots and head web pattern from the ASM2 suit and remove the leg stripes.

Well said. A more gradual transition would have been preferable. This feels too much like a "safe" studio decision after the backlash from the nerds on the TASM costume.
