When Stark announces he's not going to make weapons anymore, and it cuts to that TV show about Stark Industries going down the drain. I hate that guy. It's the one instance I can think of where the movie was trying to be funny but failed. It seemed like they were trying to get you to laugh at how unfunny the guy was, but you didn't laugh, cause it WASN'T FUNNY.

I disagree. That scene got a lot of laughter from the audience both times I watched this movie. Believe it or not, a lot of people watch Mad Money and it showed with the kind of reaction I saw. Even a couple of friends of mine who don't know about the show still chuckled during this scene. Sure it was unnecessary but I think it worked overall.

i hated the fact we didn't get an anime scale mecha fight at the end...

That scene for me was just weird. I was thinking: "Are there actually guys like these on American tv?" :)

Haha, well you'll just have to wait for an anime mech movie turned live-action to come out.

Considering Speed Racer and DBZ are getting live-action flicks, it's only a matter of time before the anime fans get Gundam or something.

Jim Cramer and his tv show is pretty much the same as the clip in the movie.

I'm so glad I saw that show when I was over in America a few years back. Had I just seen it in IM, I would've hated it for trying to be funny and just being crass.

yay! this deserved it's own thread, definitely!

in no way could this have gone in one of the dozens of other threads!

I don't think it was necessarily an attempt at getting a laugh out of the audience... any more than Mad Money itself is. Meaning, if you laughed then ok. If not, that's fine too. They're just trying to put Stark Industries into the "real world", Mad Money just happens to be a more interesting way of doing it as opposed to some talking heads behind a desk.

Yeah, it was authentic. But a lot of people who may not know that the show actually exists may think its a gag.

I watched the show and was amazed how he comes across showing that he is really playing to the masses. I thought it was a great scene but it was in part because I am aware of the financial markets and that show.

That part was so surreal! I loved it. It really helped connect the movie to modern day reality. And Jim Cramer's a great showman....larger than life...like this movie.

I chuckled, but plenty of other scenes drew natural laughter from the audience.

the only part that i....and i wouldnt even say i didnt LIKE it....but it was distracting, is that you can tell at certain points that they were doing improve scenes becuase it was kinda sloppy...there were times when i couldnt understand what pepper or rhodey was saying because RDJ was trying to through in a quip inbetween every sentence. it didnt take anything away from the experience though.

A 'gwip'?????:lmao:

Surely you mean quip as in Q-U-I-P. At spelling, you seriously failed!

My mother swears by Jim Cramer, so she got quite a kick out of seeing him in the movie!

I don't see how people can like let alone stand that guy. He's incredibly annoying and tries to hard.

Well, since the show Mad Money is real, I guess you just hate the show and not the scene.

I hate him, but all in all, it was a good scene. Connected Iron Man to the real world. I thought it was a good idea, because the Marvel Universe is more than just a grouping of interconnected heroes, it also has civilians and a non-superhero populace who aren't necessarily supporting cast members. In this case they showed that Superheroes have an impact on things outside the realm we usually see them in.

Never seen the show but have heard of it.

It's just the guy himself is annoying and obnoxious. He yells trying to act mad(key word is trying...and he fails) but comes off as a nuisance as well as over the top to where it's eye rolling "you try too hard" cheese.

i like Jim Cramer and Mad Money. See him everyday on CNBC.

so, it brought a huge smile to my face seeing in Iron Man. plus, it kind of grounded the IM universe in the "real world."
