The only thing that worries me is the games

Now don't get me wrong. Zelda looks amazing. MP:C looks great, but not all that new. What I mean is, the only real difference with MP:C is the controller.

About 90% of the games on the Wii look kid friendly/family friendly. I enjoy good, fun games as much as the next person. But I have no interest in silly football games, silly golf, cooking, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and most of the other games in the line up.

Nintendo needs new kinds of games. Nintendo needs more adult themed games. The Warriors, on the PS2. How much fun is that game? Maybe it's too early to say Nintendo hasn't got a good enough choice. But look at the GameCube. I love the games I have, but I don't have many. Whereas, I have dozens of PS2 games. Sony just brings a wider selection of choice because of all the third party companies. The 360 looks like it's delivering a choice of adult themed games too.

But in saying that, Sony and Microsoft have WAAAAAAAAAAAY too many FPS. How many war time shooters do we really need?? Seriously!

I hope I'm wrong and that Nintendo delivers a much better selection of games than what we had on the GameCube.

thats why people at game shops recommend the game cube, and Nintendo DS for younger people....

Nintendo is just that way......

and it seems to be working well for them.....

im not complaing, i love the n64 :)

Resident Evil Wii
Sadness
Red Steel
Far Cry Vengeance

A pretty good selection off the bat. Most of the games I've seen so far look more creative than silly or kiddie. Most of the really kiddie games actually look like they're coming from third parties doing multiplatform licenses. Granted, the hardware lends itself to party games like Rayman. However, I think there is definate potential for really good FPS, Survival Horror, Action Adventure, and (I'm really hoping this happens) Graphic Adventure games. With enough third party support, and I think Wii will get it, there should be a good variety.

I'm only worrying about how available the games will be :o

PS had 90% of all the same "kids" games Nintendo did, yet no one seems to mention that.

I remember back during the SNES years and then during the PS1, people didn't complain so much about "mature" games. If it looked fun you played it, cause that's gaming. You miss out on a lot of good stuff being narrowminded.

No one realizes PS2 has 596 E games and Gamecube has 316 E games.

When I look at my mental list of my personal greatest games ever, I see that most of them are been "kid friendly" games.

Mario 3
Mario World
Sonic 3
Mario 64
Excitebike
Maniac Mansion
Donkey Kong Country
TMNT 2-4
etc etc etc

It's really annoying when people always equate "kid-friendly" with "kiddy".

"Barbie Horse Adventure" is "kiddy".
"Mario Bros" is "kid-friendly".

Two completely different ideas.

Same goes with movies, too. "Lion King", any Pixar movie, "Shrek 1&2", etc. They're all kid-friendly, too, but they're masterpieces, and anyone of any age can enjoy them.

"Kid-Friendly" =/= "Kids-Only"

Yeah, I disagreed with that as well, but everything else was more or less spot on.

Nintendo is publishing Sadness, MP3, a T-rated Zelda, and probably T-rated SSB. What E-rated games are they making soon for the Wii? Super Mario Galaxy? Wii Sports?

Those are great games. Like I said in the first post, don't get me wrong. I like plenty of games that are kid friendly. But what I want is choice. I want adult themed games other than Res Evil and MP:3.

Look at the great games of the past that weren't so kid friendly...

Altered Beast
Doom
Streets Of Rage
Splatter House or whatever it was called (great game)
Die Hard Trilogy
Tomb Raider
Grand Theft Auto
Etc

I don't feel like I had the choice with the GameCube of great adult themed games. Res Evil, MP, Eternal Darkness... that's all I have that's not kid friendly on the GameCube.

Sometimes, you just wanna shoot things, blow things up, beat things to a bloody pulp, and you wanna see lots of blood while you're doing it. Games like this can be great.

But who's to say you won't see games like those? The system hasn't even been released yet, we have no idea what developers are going to come out with over the course of the next half-decade. Stereotyping the Wii's game supply because of the GCN isn't right. If things worked like that, the N64 would have had far, far more RPGs than it ended up with.

Yeah, I was a bit hesitant to include the Shreks as "masterpieces". But you get the idea.

plus there's Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia, Nightfire, Soul Caliber. . .

I somewhat agree. Out of all the launch titles the only must haves for me is Twilight P., and Red Steel. Red steel isn't even necesarilly a must have. Nintendo dropped the ball a little with the launch in my opinion. The perfect launch would have been if the console were about 219.99 Zelda, Metriod, Mario all available on day one, and third party online at launch, keep the wii sports pack in. Extra controllers should be no more than 40 bucks and one free retro download. How could any gamer resist that. I would have done this even if we didn't make a profit on hardware out the gate. I'm sure wii would have been profitable in a year or shorter, thats still better than sony and microsoft.

oh yeah and launch at least a week before ps3. Can someone tell me how to make an avatar and fix my blasted signiture?

I'm thinking you expected too much with the launch. For starters, why throw out all of their big guns at launch? They need to space them, that's good business sense. Put out some of them for launch or close after, then steadily release them over the coming months.

I think their launch lineup is fine. And as long as the game is fun, then if it a kid friendly game, it doesn't really matter so much. I play for the fun...not the blood or boobies or whatever else makes an adult themed game.:whatever:

I personally don't think gore or language makes a game, I can play with my wives real boobs any time I want to, so none of that really matters. But you give me a game starring a pudgy plumber and throw in one heck of a fun game, I'm so there.:woot:

Not at all, I'm just saying cut Nintendo some slack for not using Blood and Boobies as much as the other consoles. :D

This is the way I see it...

Do you like movies? What kind of movies do you like?

I love movies. I love all kinds of movies. From Finding Nemo, the Studio Ghibli films, and other kids movies, to Die Hard, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and other great action movies. I also really like very serious and gritty movies like The Woodsman, and Requim For A Dream.

It's like... I'm 22 years old... sometimes I find it better to immerse myself into a world that's dark and gritty, rather than fuzzy and cute. It's not that I just want "blood and boobs". It's about finding something that I can better equate with.

That's understandable.....but....I always thought a pudgy plumber is as gritty as it gets, you know, what with all the poo and slime he works through. :O :D
