Superman Returns The opening & opening credits! What IMPACT did it have on you?

best part of the movie.
sadly it went downhill from there.
to me. this film got worse and worse as it went on.

The opening credits gave me goosebumps. Very cool.

Was disappointed that they zipped "John Williams" name far to fast (and far to obvious). I found that a bit disrespectful.

I got goosebumps...not only b/c of the theme but because of the realization that this was gonna be my first Superman movie theater experience.

I'm tellin' ya'...No school like the old-school. :)

I thought that part was one of the things to not alter at all, it was great in 78's and it was great in Returns. Singer altered the rest of the feel and remade it to my satisfaction. You dont mess with Brando either. Smart man.

I thought the whole planets thing looked terrible. The guy behind me asked why they were playing the opening from Third Rock from the Sun.

LOL.:D

Thats a cheap shot imo. That IS how planets look like.. you dont like it.. take it up with nature.

I think it was a "homage" to star trek. Every episode I think began with a trip pass a bunch of fake planets.

I thought it was just a homage to 78s... with the credits they had all of this starburst stuff and flying stars going on behind it.

it made me cry.............the volume was dangerously loud:(

I don't know what that stuff was, fire crackers and swirling goop or something.

This time I noticed it's different since we're doing the star trek thing and flying pass all sorts of cgi planets and asteroids. Maybe it's both...kill two birds afterall.

heh, I just realized Superman literally flew in a star ship.

the cgi was bad on the planets..........

It was a rush job....it was done like a month before the release, when Singer decided NOT to include the Krypton trip.

i nearly went deaf! i should sue

Well when the opening crawl began, seeing "a bryan singer film" and then the S logo in its loud glory, i knew Singer was about to rock the pants off of superman heh.

yeah that's what i thought too, but i couldnt tell if maybe it was an artistic style or if it was a rush job.

oh btw.....did anyone get a massive case of deja vu in the scene where krypton exploded.....

I KNOW.....for a fact!...that the scene was ripped off from somewhere!!

Looked fine to me. Especially the exploding planet.

It always amuses me when people say cgi looks bad but 1970s technology is apparently supreme.:o

SO I ask you. UGH!!........ so what century do you live in?

Looked fake, yeah. The flying in returns looked good at points and fake in others. I wish Singer would get better cgi artists for the next one. when superman flew through the clouds in the end, and the cgi routh blinked, I was rolling my eyes so hard they fell out and into my pants so I ended up putting the wrong balls back into my eyesockets. Actually I don't think it was the cgi artists just being bad, it was probably overbudget and didn't have time to fix everything perfectly. I remember routh said they didn't quite get everything done on time.

I wonder if there were anyone who actually saw the Superman movies from the 1970`s and saw Superman Returns. What would they think...

I was very excited to hear the Superman theme again, but all in all I felt disappointed by the opening. I was expecting something really new and cool, but it was just a rehash of the opening credits from the Donner movie.
