I'm curious to see what made people get into comic books,I think for me that it actually started with the Marvel Universe cards, series 1. Somewhere in 1990. My brother had them and lots of comic books. One of the first comic books that I ever bought was a Captain America one. It was Volume. 1,#267. Captain America vs Everyman.

When I was very young I loved Batman (in fact, "Batman" was the first word I ever spoke, before even "mama") but I didn't know that there were comics.

I got into GI Joe when the first wave of A Real American Hero came out. One day I was sick and someone brought me a GI Combat comic (thinking it was GI Joe). I loved it, and it clicked that Batman and other characters were in comics as well...and so began my fandom.

Watching Adam West Batman with my grandmother. Seeing Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Mask of Phantasm on VHS, and watching BTAS among with getting Batman related toys. Thats how it began for me.

Actually those very first cards had an iunfluence on me as well. I mean I always enjoyed the casrtoons of Superman, Batman, Superfriends, Spider-Man, Spider-Man and his amazing friends etc. The first series I remeber ever really collecting, though not my first comic was the Venom; Lethal Protector limited 6 issue series.

When I was young I was big into The Super Friends tv show and then Super Powers Team show. I had/still have he figures from that show. That was the mid 80s so I guess from there my parents gave me some comics that someone gave my older sister and I loved them. But I can say that I got a copy of Secret War 11 and that introduced me to so many characters that it blew me away. I've been an addict ever since.

Toon Disney reran the 90s X-Men cartoon in the summer of 2005, and watching it again made me want to read the comics. The first Ultimate X-Men book was the first trade I ever read, and it was what really fueled my interest.

I was born during the Batmania of the early 90's, so superheroes were always a favorite of mine. After reading Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, I discovered how cool comics could be and wanted to pick up more. Initially, I said to myself I was only going to read a few Batman and horror stories. Damn, was I wrong.

Um....

You know, I don't know if there was anything all that specific outside of comics that got me into them. I just always thought superheros, and comics in general, were pretty neat as far back as I can remember.

The Batman movie in 1989 was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and is one of my earliest memories. I was interested in superheroes like all children after that, but it wasn't until the Batman, X-Men, and Spider-Man animated series that I started getting into comics in earnest. I haven't looked back since.
