The Dark Knight The Oscar Push!

Could you imagine Daniel Day-Lewis having to present with that *****e from Twilight :csad:?

Don't even joke about that. How would the Actor feeling knowing this? "Sorry Daniel/Marion/Tilda/Javier, we don't think you'll attract enough viewer by yourself, so we're gonna partner you with a real celebrity to help boost ratings, hope you don't mind."

Which doesn't make any sense. People are STILL quoting Day-Lewis from TWBB. Ever hear people quoting Twilight?

This is really insulting.

But that's where the problem is. Everybody knows Daniel Plainview. Nobody knows Daniel Day-Lewis. :csad:

Well that's their fault, not DDL's.

Well that's their fault, not DDL's.

Yeah well it's HIS fault too. He's just too good an actor. He looks and acts NOTHING like the roles he plays. :cmad:

I mean, I told my friends who aren't that familiar with names that the soft spoken English sounding gentleman who picked up the Best Actor trophy in 2008 was the same guy who played Bill The Butcher and all I got was a collective " " look.

I believe someone on World of KJ suggested they were going to wheel out Heath's corpse, then he would knife several presenters as he sat up, saying, "How about alive?" and then hold one of them hostage at knifepoint. :oldrazz:

Holy crap, the Oscars telecast sounds worse than I thought. From Deadline Hollywood:

I'm actually looking forward to the girls' night all-out Oscar snarkfest my friends and I have planned tomorrow. :applaud

But who the hell goes out of their way to watch an awards show just because they like one of the presenters?

I mean, I think Carrie Underwood is as hot as a furnace, but you ain't gonna catch me watching the CMT Awards.

So true, it just adds to the absurdity of the producers trying to keep the presenters names hidden. They can't be that idiotic to think that's what people tune in to watch, not once have I ever heard anyone say anything in regards to who's presenting, seriously does anyone really care whether it's Steven Spielberg or Shia La Bouf giving the awards out? Me thinks not.

Just further proof of how out of touch with reality the folks at the Academy truly are.

If it's that kids choice, teen choice, or mtv awards, they usually do care who presents. If the Jonas Brothers are presenting I promise you it'll get a bunch of teen girls watching.

Maybe if the Oscars did away with the musical numbers and the pointless filler to cut its runtime down to a reasonable level people would watch, and stars would want to actually go.

according to cinemascope, this is the order in which the awards will be given out...you can probably ignore the times, they always run behind

No way in hell those times are Eastern. More like Pacific. My local listing has it running until 10:30 Central, which would be 11:30 Eastern and 8:30 Pacific.

I think it's rather interesting that they are actually telling us what time the Supporting Actor award will be handed out. I would think they'd try to hold that one off as long as possible to keep as broad of an audience as possible for as long as possible. I'm probably not even going to bother watching Cinematography since I've got a feeling Mr. Pfister is going to lose to Slumdog.

Which you'll notice I fixed as you were typing your reply...I didn't actually look at the times until after I posted. I just cut and pasted from the site, which had the wrong time zone listed.

Not shocking. Seems like that happens a lot. :hehe: Everyone just assumes that everything is Eastern time zone.

TDK just won two awards at the Sound Editing Guild!!(beating Slumdog in one of the categories :oldrazz::woot:)

Best Sound Editing: Sound Effects and Foley in a Feature Film

Best Sound Editing: Music in a Feature Film

That's 4-th guild for TDK after the actors, costumes and art direction.

Hopefully the visual effects society will give it another.

Also "Batman: Gotham Knight" won:

Best Sound Editing: DIRECT TO VIDEO

TDK better not win visual effects. :down :o

If you knew anything about the awards other then constantly *****ing how TDK deserves nothing you would not post crap like that :whatever:

Outstanding Created Environment in a Feature Motion Picture
CLOVERFIELD - Brooklyn Bridge Sequence

THE DARK KNIGHT - IMAX Gotham City Scapes

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - Temple Heart

THE MUMMY - TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR - Avalanche Sequence
SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK - Created Environment

Outstanding Special Effects in a Motion Picture
THE DARK KNIGHT - Garbage Truck Crash Mechanical Effects

DEFIANCE - Special Effects

Those are the 2 categories in which TDK is nominated and which deserves to win.

Why do you have a problem with that? It had great visual effects. Since when is CGI the only criteria for visual effects? I think that damn truck flip is one of the coolest visual effects I've seen in an action movie or any movie for that matter.
