The Dark Knight The Oscar Push!

yeah, TDK sure showed Slumdog who was boss when it comes to Best Sound Editing: Music in a Feature Film :hehe:

It sure did.:brucebat:

I'm telling you,if these awards were before the oscar nominations TDK would have been the frontrunner!!!:oldrazz::hehe::hehe:

And what do you know,TDK won 3 awards at the visual effects society awards.

All 3 for which it was nominated(i missed one in my previous post).

5 awards in one night...not bad at all.

So now that the Guilds are over a little retrospect:

2 Actors Guilds Awards
Costume Guild Award
Art Direction Guild Award
2 Sound Editing Awards
3 Visual Effects Awards

And it had nominations in every other that it didn't won...director,editing,cinematography,writing,sound mixing.

TDK beat out

Outstanding Models and Miniatures in a Feature Motion Picture
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
IRON MAN
MY DARLING OF THE MOUNTAINS

Outstanding Created Environment in a Feature Motion Picture
CLOVERFIELD Brooklyn Bridge Sequence
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - Temple Heart
THE MUMMY - TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR - Avalanche Sequence
SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK

and it beat DEFIANCE for Special Effects

I just saw an Oscar ad filled to the brim with TDK shots.

Makes me sick to my stomach, man.

As I said, they're desperate. :oldrazz:

I remember seeing a few IM shots in an Oscar ad. :funny: I mean, even TDK had 8 noms, one of them being in acting.

No way in hell those times are Eastern. More like Pacific. My local listing has it running until 10:30 Central, which would be 11:30 Eastern and 8:30 Pacific.

I think it's rather interesting that they are actually telling us what time the Supporting Actor award will be handed out. I would think they'd try to hold that one off as long as possible to keep as broad of an audience as possible for as long as possible. I'm probably not even going to bother watching Cinematography since I've got a feeling Mr. Pfister is going to lose to Slumdog.

If you think about it, they ARE giving away Best Supporting Actor at the time when they think everyone is going to be watching, around 10:00 eastern. A lot of people don't stay up to watch the whole thing, especially if they know which movie is going to win.

U realize TDK has many nominations tonight, right? why should they ignore it?

That's an excellent point, especially since the BP winner is a foregone conclusion.

So guys, which awards do you personally want TDK to win the most?

For myself, obviously Heath,Wally Pfister(cinematography),Richar King(Sound Editing) and Nathan Crowley for Art Direction.

To avoid any confussion i'm asking who would you like to see winning not what you expect.

The one i want TDK to win the most is Heath's. His performance for me was outstanding and he's a huge part of why i enjoy watching this movie. Heck, sometimes i just put the dvd on to watch the Joker parts only :o

I would like to see The Dark Knight win everything it's nominated for. But Wally Pfister especially. I think he's the best at shooting film today. Seriously.

Don't know if this was posted before or not...

Harvey Weinstein on TDK:

NEWSWEEK: Did you think "The Dark Knight" had a shot at best picture?

HW: Yeah. I thought the movie was great. The problem is, I don't think "The Reader" knocked out "The Dark Knight." "The Reader" has a fanatical audience. The people who love "The Reader" love it. What you win on, in the first round of nominations, is passion, the people who vote No. 1 for your film. I think "Frost/Nixon" knocked out "Batman." But it's much sexier to say Harvey knocked out "Batman." Now my kids are mad at me. They're like, "Dad, how could you do that?" I'm like, "Guys, I didn't! It was 'Frost/ Nixon'." They're like, "Who's Nixon?" I go, "He's with the Jonas Brothers. He's the older one."

complete interview for anyone who cares:http://www.newsweek.com/id/184769/page/1

Go Heath/Wally/TDK! :brucebat:

Final predictions:

TDK to nab 3 Oscars, Supporting Actor and both Sound Awards.
Slumdog to score 5 wins
Mickey Rourke to win Best Actor
Winslet for Actress
An upset for Supporting Actress
WALL-E to win Original Screenplay

Harvey Weinstein is so full of crap. I don't believe a word he says. He knows the Oscar game. He knows that if he got enough people to vote for The Reader as their number one choice during the first round that it would get in. It's an open secret that he used the memory of the two beloved, deceased producers, Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack(a man he badgered on his death bed, btw), as a way to get voters to vote for the Reader(as a tribute to them). Honestly, If Weinstein told me the sky was blue, I would have to go out and check.

When Frost/Nixon and TDK both receive nominations from all the guilds and The Reader doesn't, it's tough for him to argue that Frost/Nixon is the movie that knocked TDK out.
