The Penguin The Penguin on HBO - General Discussion

What characters would people like to see added to the story next season (if there is one)? Does it depend on what characters appear in the next movie?

So, “washing his tights” was a euphemism all along.

How dirty.

Bale's Batman would have been

This may sound like a silly question but I'll ask this anyway, does a season 2 of The Penguin work now that we all hate protagonist? I feel like the empathy we had for Oz during most of season one was part of what wanted us to go on this journey with him and even root for him at times. Now, that we know he's a despicable POS, do we as viewers want to follow this character on another journey?
For me, no. Save him for the films now. Another series about the penguin would just feel like the typical cash grab. I think we know more than enough about him now.

I'd love to see a joker series tho, and maybe bane.

But, only if the joker is done right.
I want the crazy azz laugh the snow white face, green hair, red lips, AND for him to be as smart as Bats and able to hold his own with him.
If that's too much to ask, then skip it.

As much as I’d love more, taking what was intended to be a limited format and deciding “Alright, well, people like it, so… SEASON TWO!” is a risk that has rarely ever paid off.

I think you’ve gotta just move on to other corners of this Gotham. But you can still keep some threads running through it all. Sofia in a Catwoman series almost makes too much sense.

I don't know. There was enough of a hook for Oz's future, that I think another season to get into the details between the movies would work. I am assuming Oz's scenes in 2 will largely be around that anti corruption testimony Mayor Real was setting up.

I do think we will likely get other series before a season 2, though.

I think HBO will do the Catwoman series next with a little Arkham on the side. To me that would be another way to introduce the Gotham upper class with Catwoman stealing from them. That smile on Sofia’s face tells all. Zoe and Christin can pass for sisters in real life. She could team with her sister to take down Penguin in the future. Selina has no love for Penguin especially if you see the cut scene from the movie. I agree with the board members who think “Joker” will continue to be hidden in the background. We don’t need to know anything about. I love the realistic take on Batman because I don’t know if he can beat this villains gallery. The Penguin is rising and in control of the underworld, Riddler is smarter than the Batman and is about to team up with Joker. Bruce is not your play boy billionaire like he portrayed in the comics. He seems to have no people skills. It seems it Batman vs Gotham. Will it change in Batman 2? More villains will be introduced in 2026. Grace said something about Mr, Freeze in her review. I would love to see how Reeves would handle him in a realistic way. So I will believe it when I see it. Reeves is keeping a tight ship with his Universe. Gotham is in trouble and I am loving it. WB has a hit universe on it’s hand. If the DCU fails the Reeves Batman universe will take the center stage.

According to BobaTalks Julian Rush was originally supposed to be Jonathan Crane, I wonder why they changed his name (and if he's still set to be this universe's version of Scarecrow.)

Boba is is one of the better DC YouTubers. I highly recommend a watch. He is enjoyable and fair.

When I first saw someone point this out (I think it was BobaTalks) I was like, “Come onnnnn, you’re reaching here.”

But then I thought about it a bit. After episode 7, I saw someone make the case that Oz likes Eve because she physically resembles his mother, and I dismissed that because I didn’t see it at all. But THEN we had the final scene in episode 8 and yeah, now I definitely see it.

So… yeah. Everything is intentional in this show and something like this probably isn’t an accident.
