The Political Satire & Cartoon Thread II - Part 2

Heh.

Still loving the "sacrifice" theme to these too. He didn't sacrifice jack, he had about a season or two left in him anyway, in a less prime position than he had been up until now. Now he's a hero to 46/47% of the country and has a better endorsement deal to line his pockets for the next few years. Way better off than he would have been if he'd just protested anytime that wasn't anthem time.

Interested on people's opinion on the whole Serena Williams cartoon

If they were smart, they would do it outside an election year. They have given a very, very good target for Dems to run on. See Manchin's new add.

This cartoonist exaggerated Serena's facial features to make her look more like a tribal man with gigantic mouth. Very subtle.

The cartoonist is known for exaggerating features its satire, this is another tennis one he did of Nick Kyrgios now there was no outrage over this one even though he greatly exaggerated his jaw, ears and nose.

This isn't true. Mr. Kaepernick cost himself a boatload of cash by kneeling (The Horror!) during the national anthem in protest of police brutality. Given the state of the quarterback position in the NFL, Colin could have stuck around for a half dozen more years if he simply shut up and played ball. That's millions of dollars in annual compensation he will never get back. Thank goodness people exist who are willing to sacrifice their personal comfort for the greater good.

If that's supposed to be her after the loss to Osaka, why is Osaka drawn as if she's white

I don't really get any racial stuff from that Serena cartoon either. *Shrugs* Not familiar with the cartoonist, but that seems pretty standard caricature stuff, which is like the whole point of what these guys do.

Google images has a bunch of his other work up there, you'd be hard-pressed to say he's any more flattering with white subjects of his mockery:

Ooh, a caricature artist plays up physical features, the horror. Usual knee-jerk "racism!" bandwagon BS.

He was going to float between back up and starter the rest of his career and thats an optimistic take. He lost his starting job to Blaine Gabbert who is now a backup himself. His playing style doesn't fit what most teams want at quarterback. But if he were still in the NFL as a backup, his sacrifice narrative doesn't hold up and he doesn't get his big Nike campaign. Nike has been paying him all along so it's not like he has been without income either.

Colin sacrificed his career with absolutely no reason to think a big Nike campaign was in his future. And backup QBs make millions and can work well into their late thirties. This is real money lost.

I've seen this recently with Dave Bautista. Attack the messenger! Everyone who makes a principled stand is a hypocrite! It's pathetic.

You talk about him sacrificing his "personal comfort" when he's already a multi millionaire. True, he'll miss out on money as a backup but he also misses out on concussions and other injuries.

Also, i dont think it's far fetched to think he and Nike would have had talks about a future deal well before his old one expired.

Backup quarterbacks have a much easier time avoiding concussions and other injuries than starters. And it is farfetched to suspect Nike would keep a retiree who ended his career with a fizzle on the payroll. This is an unique situation.

Whether you agree with him or not, doing what Kaepernick did took courage.

Colin doesn't stand for anything, as he as declined ALL interviews.

Yeah, 'cause Republicans endorse rape. :whatever: It's that simple.

There's nothing pointing to Kavanaugh having done this. According to, you know, the FBI, which the New York Times is of the opinion the White House didn't interfere with or limit in its investigation.
