Lionsgate Thriller The Protégé Trailer and Official Photos Released

Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge. As she becomes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves ever tighter.

I'm so down for this. This is basically a pseudo sequel to Nikita (which was a FAN-tastic show).

I have a feeling this probably going to get poorly reviewed and will likely fall into B-movie territory but it looks entertaining as Hell.

That looks like a fun ride, really liking the trailer and cast.

I'm a sucker for plots like this and I'm a big fan of the cast. I'm in. Go get 'em Maggie!

I agree with you guys, this is very familiar action movie territory but the action looks slick action and I love the cast, dug Maggie Q since Naked Weapon.

Wasn't expecting much, even though the trailer was intriguing, but it's at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes with only 10 reviews so far.

I was a little worried considering reviews didn't come out until the night/day before it came out but when was the last time Keaton was in a "bad" movie?

Well I hope it holds up. Martin Campbell should direct more ****. He's always welcome back to Bond.

I was a little disappointed in his last movie with Jackie Chan but the action was still pretty good at least

Never saw it. I feel he's considered too old for Hollywood now or just hasn't made a hit so he's been relegated to stuff like this since Green Lantern. Or he's slowly crawling back up, I don't know. Get him to direct a John Wick sequel if the directors don't come back.

First impression:

This kinda reminds me of fun action movies from the 90s like Mask of Zorro, and it coming from the same director is hopefully a return to form for him.

I'm definitely in.

After watching this movie:

Not great, but certainly fun. And I had to quote Batman at certain points while watching this movie, for which I have to say; Keaton still has it.

Not one of Martin Campbell's best, but certainly better than the previous two boring movies he directed.

Yeah pretty solid one time watch type thing. The plot isn't all that interesting but it's semi stylish and both Maggie Q and Keaton did a pretty good job. I'd say this movie accomplished what it wanted to do.

I actually thought this was one of the better under the radar action films to come out in a while and honestly, I got a lot more out of this film than most of the high-profile blockbusters that came out last year.

Michael Keaton stole show for me and Maggie Q has never been more badass and looking sexy IMO. I wasn't crazy about the ending, but I would still rather watch this over crap like Snake Eyes, F9, Mortal Kombat 2021 and even The Matrix: Resurrections any day of the week which is sad to say honestly.

I watched it this weekend and this was a confusing movie( and I can understand Tenet!)

What was the point of Keatons market place fight? Who were those people? Were they sent by Robert Patrick's biker gang? What was the point of one guy just swerving into cars to turn around?

Looking on the wikipage

Rembrandt gets into a street fight with local thugs hired by Duquet but survives. Meanwhile, Anna kills Duquet. Rembrandt arrives and sees Duquet was hanged.

Why was Duquet trying to kill Rembrandt(Keaton)?

Michael Keaton finds out Maggie Q's real name Nadia Zhukova but that goes nowhere

That whole sub plot about visiting that older businessman's disabled son really went nowhere.

Also at the end we get this long winded speech from Samuel L Jackson that just dragged on and on

The movie was bouncing around alot
