    Oh that sucks. :csad:

How big is your fish tank/how many fish do you have? Always wanted to get one. Still may get a small one.

It's the canister filter to the right of the tank that's giving me fits. They stopped making the paper sleeve.

Hopefully alliteration = a few bucks in your pocket.

@Willie Lumpkin sent me his books and I'm ashamed to say I haven't read them yet, but I've got them tucked away for a rainy day. Well, I'm in LA and it's raining, but I'm talking about a rainy day when I don't have construction blasting away and I don't basically have to be the project manager. I'm not pimping his books, but they look really interesting.

Wow, that’s awesome!! I need it. Definitely high on my list to Santa every year. Fish tanks and the fish in them really give me a zen feeling. I want to get some ancient ruins for the tank too. :cwink:

I love those kind of ornaments but I had to watch sharp edges as my big shark there is a thrasher when he gets spooked. Whatever you do resist the urge to buy iridescent sharks. He was an inch and a half when I got him, now he's gigantic. Shouldn't be okay to sell them, really. Most other fish won't outgrow their tanks like these guys.

Ok thanks, good to know. Going to have another look at a shop near me that does a wide variety of tanks.

I do find freshwater is easier than salt, less maintenance. You can never over filter, and remember-- no more than one inch (or the metric equivalent) of fish per gallon of water. Understocking is always best. That's why I've got the one monster shark and little else. Fish don't need to eat much, so only feed once a day no matter how much they beg, lol. :p

    I guess I'm distrustful of buying from someone I don't know. :(

Feels a bit different the last couple of days here too. Bit warmer after the cold snap from winter lasted a few more months, and finally some sun!

After 20 years I don't think that's planned but it still sucks. You can definitely rig up a replacement though. I have done that before although I don't have a 110g, I have a 40g breeder and a 20g long at the moment. The canister media can be substituted with a similar one or you can alter a bigger one to fit in it.

Barring that, if you absolutely had to I would recommend Ehiem cannister filters. They work great and one I have is a model that's been in production for well over 20 years with no plans to discontinue it that I'm aware of.

They are lovely but iridescents can reach over 4 feet in a proper sized aquarium and they prefer to school so look even bigger for that. They are also an endangered species in their native habitat though fortunately they are bred in captivity.

I made the mistake once of having an albino channel cat in a 29g when I first started out. He quickly outgrew that and ended up going to an indoor pond for a while at the fish shop.

On way to visit my mum who has my 2 nieces (2 and 5) over and sounds like I’m going to get blitzed when I arrive.

Just got this text: “Kids driving me mad….when’s uncle coming? They don’t even want dinner before that.” :funny:

Better brace for impact, lol. If you wear them out maybe they will fall asleep later so you can breathe. At least you'll get fed.
