The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - Part 11

I think the results of both films speak for itself.

Let's put it this way: Would I like to have the exact same creative team that made homecoming making a Fantastic Four film?

HELL YEAH!!!

Fidelity to source material is pointless. Sue Storm was arguably the most accurate to her comic self in Fant4stic, yet she was arguably the worst of the 4 main characters, being given nothing to really do. She didn't even go to N-Zone where the others got their powers. That is simply ludicrous.

I would like to remind everyone.....NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HAS SEEN SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING BY IT'S 3RD DAY OF RELEASE....SO LEAVE THE SPOILERS FOR THAT MOVIE OUT OF HERE!!!!!

Literally every character Marvel Studios regained the rights to they made better than the original. I think everyone should write into Fox and say they will have no part of any 3rd reboot of the characters that does not involve Feige.

Look at Homecoming's Peter Parker and compare him to any member of the FF in that movie. Look at FFINO's treatment of the greatest villain in the Marvel stable and compare it to what Homecoming did with a C-lister.

Change everything about the kids he goes to high school with, I don't care.
Change everything I love about our main characters, I'm out. There's no denying the difference.

Exactly. There is a major difference in changing side characters and changing main characters.

The only iffy change for me was The Ancient One. However, Tilda's performance was worth it.

Can't say the same for FF

.
Not to mention, Homecoming is critically praised and has mostly great reaction from fans, while FFINO is universally hated spore ridden dog pooooo. Clearly there is a difference.

That's an insult to dog poo

The only thing comic accurate about her was the blond hair which changed to a terrible blond wig at times.....

If somebody put a gun to my head and told me they'd pull the trigger unless I named the best, most comic-accurate thing about Fant4stic, I'd be in serious trouble because I can't name a single thing.

The only things about this film that are even similar to the comics are the character names, genders and powers. The similarities begin and end there, and the differences are profound.

It's as if they intentionally set out to make a film that was as unlike the comics as possible just to test the theory of: "They'll see it anyway."

I take it you enjoyed Homecoming Willie Lumpkin? :drl:

I thought it was the best Spider-man we have gotten. If only FF had that treatment.

I'm not a huge Spider-man fan, but I did read quite a few SM comic books when I was young. Neither of the previous actors ever felt quite right to me. It was like they were skating around the character and not quite nailing it.

I felt like TH was the first one to really nail (young Spider-Man - it will be very interesting to see how the character matures). It wasn't perfect (no film is) and I might have done a few things differently, but yeah, I'd love to see FF get something close to that.

... but at this point, it would be great to see FF done even as well as Spider-Man 3 or ASM 2.

A discussion of the possibility that Homecoming could prompt a Marvel/Fox deal:

I think there's no question this has to be a hot topic of conversation in Fox management offices this morning. As the article notes, the box office numbers blow away anything Fox has been able to do with FF, and on a budget that isn't much larger than what Fox has spent on their weak FF efforts.

The big question is likely to be: "What kind of deal will Marvel be willing to agree to?"

My best guess would be that Fox would finance the FF films and keep all profits generated from box office streaming and Blu ray sales. Marvel gets to use any and all characters associated with the property. Exclusive rights to certain characters like Doom Galactus Etc. As well as 100 percent merchandising for marvel.

That would probably be what Fox would offer. I dunno if thats worth it to Marvel. Do they want to work with another studio? Do they want to accommodate more room on the schedule for a marvel/fox produced FF film? I think marvel says no to this deal.

Wait, did they not have 100% merchandising?

No. According to a financial report from Marvel years back they get 'over 50%' of merch revenue on Fox's Marvel films. What Fox gets is anyone's guess but they do get a cut.

Was this before or after the Disney acquisition?
I was under the assumption, unlike Spider-man, Fox only made $$ off of movie tie-in merch.

With F4, they're splitting those receipts with another studio.

I thought Marvel got all of the merchandising and 5% of film revenue.

I could be wrong but I would imagine the money they make for merchandising for Fantastic Four is nowhere near as much as they would get for Spider-Man. I would think if Marvel made a deal with Fox, they would want a cut of the box office to make it worthwhile.

Also I say this as someone who is unfamiliar with the exact FF movie rights as far as profits go.
