According to this, The Disney Fox deal could be completed sooner:
Disney may complete the Fox transaction sooner, says Loop Capital Loop Capital analyst Alan Gould kept his Buy rating and $130 price target on Disney (DIS) after the release of its 10-K filing. The analyst notes that after securing approval to close its Fox (FOXA) transaction in U.S., E.U., and China, as well as with Brazil being close to granting the merger approval, the deal may be completed "closer to January 1st than June 30th."

I know this is not the thread but I still am in awe that Black Panther clobbered Justice League at the Box Office.

But at any rate, bring on Jan 1, 2019 so we can finalize this damn deal! So we can get Rogue for Captain Marvel 2 and they can get in a catfight and she can call her sugah!

The sooner the deal closes, the sooner the X-Men and FF can be saved.

we might get captain marvel trailer 2 before the Avengers 4 teaser.

Imagine if it closed in January. That gives Marvel a window of 3 months to put something in A4

Doubt we'd see anything in a4. Marvel have other films lined up before we see an xmen or ff. If anything they are patient.

Unless they decide to hold off on Avengers 4 marketing until closer to 2019(that’s not happening considering Feige said the trailer will be here before the end of the year) then we will get the first Avengers 4 teaser before the second Captain Marvel trailer.

Well they tweeted out that Captain Marvel was a 100 days away. Captain Marvel seems to be the focus right now.

That doesn’t really mean anything. It doesn’t mean marketing for Avengers 4 doesn’t start this year. If the trailer doesn’t arrive this week then surely next week.

A mention of Latveria is all I need and I’m a happy camper!

Yeah, I don't need to see anything. Just a mention of Victor Von Doom, Reed Richards, Latveria, Galactus - any of the 1000's of things that have been forbidden would be great.

Just a wink and nod to the fans that: "Yeah, these characters exist in the MCU and you'll be seeing them in the coming years." is all I need.

I'm starting to wonder if Jackman's big announcement on Thursday is a cameo in once upon a deadpool.

Huge, Hugh has a sense of humor....
He's gonna say he got the MCU version of Fred Dukes.... The Blob... so that he does not have to do the massive workout routine... then laugh and tell us whatever he really wanted to say.

Great news! And it looks to be the same site that reported the then-impending China approval. which, for me, is the detail that really makes this exciting.

But I just wanted to play devil's advocate for a second here: the article states that it may be completed "closer to January 1st than June 30th." Buuuut... that could mean one day closer to January 1st than June 30th.

They wouldn't play with our emotions like that- right, guys?

Right?!?!?!?

Why did Fox want to sell to Disney when they have been successful in their films and tv, and they were doing better than both Paramount and Sony?

That’s been my million dollar question for the last year too. I was more than happy with the news Disney was trying to buy back X-Men, but to take the whole studio?

I can’t see FOX being in dire financial straits.

It seems the murdochs basically decided that Fox wouldn't be able to compete in the coming streaming market. So their best option was to sell while their assets were at the highest value. And they were right. Despite Fox having a decent selection of franchises and TV properties it wouldn't have been enough to start their own streaming service. So better to combine it with a brand like Disney. They also wanted to focus on news and live tv.

I think we're very close to an announcement, but I think we have to count on roughly two months after the announcement for the actual close. I'm expecting an announcement at or around the end of the year with an actual closing at or around the end of February.

I think the "First half of 2019" was a conservative window based on the idea that China, Europe etc. could have taken some time. But with those big approvals being done earlier than expected, we're probably much closer to the beginning than end of that window.

I didn’t realize it was due to Fox not being able to compete with the streaming market but it makes sense in a shrewd way.
