Even if you want Marvel to get the rights, when a film comes out that appears to be special and is getting great reviews for pushing boundaries, it should be celebrated because it raises the bar for everyone.

Spidey is my all time favorite character in fiction, so I'm very happy that he is back on top. Between having the highest grossing CBM of 2017, to shinning in Avengers 3, to now having possibly an Oscar winning movie. He also had one of the games of the year in Spider-Man PS4. Way to go web-head, way to go. And next year we get Far From Home, what a time to be a Spider-Man fan.

Sorry Batman and Iron-Man, but Spidey is once again the king of superheroes, between animated, live action, video games, and being the top merch/toy seller.

I just don’t want Sony to have any power or to much. I want spidey to stay on top not go back to asm days when the character was outshined by low tier mcu characters like Loki and such. I love all the success but I’m scared what may happen with the future of the character.

Better make a keep hope alive thread for Sony’s Spider-Man rights for real.

I said months ago that this Into the Spider Verse movie would be the real blockbuster (the success of Venom not withstanding), and it’s getting good reviews.

Ugh.

If Sony doesn't renew its deal with Marvel it won't be because of Into the Spider-Verse, it will be because of Venom. I bet Pascal and Arad are now wondering how much would a Holland's Spider-Man vs. Hardy's Venom movie make.

FFH will have more say on if they extend the deal. If FFH makes like a billion, they'll more than likely leave him in the MCU.

As much as we hate Venom’s success, I think INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE’s success only helps the MCU cause. That coupled with a billion from FAR FROM HOME. Sony will renew with Marvel and Miles will be the Spidey face of the Sonyverse and do battle with Hardy.

Secret Wars on the big screen- man, that would be quite a sight. And now with the deal being so close to closing, it can be essentially fully-realized! I wonder how they would end up doing it. Would it be like Infinity War, or a more literal, direct adaptation. The latter might be a challenge, and I know Marvel likes to have the audience experience characters and stories in new ways. However it turns out, I know it would be amazing.

Yea they can easily find a substitute for spidey. They lacked a lot of elements in Civil War and Infinity War from the comics and they still managed to make it their own.
