I wonder what should be done to celebrate the deal closing? I wanna ask the people posting here what they would personally do to celebrate the FF and X-Men coming back home.

For me, I'll re-watch the old FF films and start re-reading the Fantastic Four comics in anticipation of the MCU FF film.

Everyone should watch Fant4stic to celebrate.

I can't see any explanation of exactly why he's being cut, but if I had to guess, I suspect the board feels he paid too much and gave up too much in concessions to get approvals.

Maybe Iger said he could get it done more cheaply and when everything shook out Disney ended up paying more than he had promised beforehand.

That makes sense, they could be concerned about taking on a large chunk of the Foxs debt. $13 billion in debt is no joke. Plus the $179m from the law suit. I wonder by how much they missed their original projected close date. If It's now March 12 instead of March 8th and their cutting his pay cause he missed it by a few days that sucks.

Just a matter of time. Don't see why The Gifted would be an exception. If anything, it would be Legion. But even this show got cancelled. So...
Between Polaris and the poor portrayal of the Morlocks, that show gotta go.

Gonna rewatch X-Men: The Animated Series. Haven't truly watched it again since the late 2000s, early 2010s. So i want it fresh in my mind

Sad to see Bloomberg resort to clickbate his pay cut had nothing to do with the fox deal.

For me I should watch the best animated series episodes, has to be
Reunion, Phoenix Saga, Dark Phoenix Saga, and Beyond Good and Evil from TAS
Day of Reckoning, Dark Horizon, Ascension from Evolution
Foresight, from Wolverine and the X-Men

I really hope we get another good, profound, X-Men cartoon. This whole generation needs to know how epic they are. It's time for a Disney XD show.

Recent Marvel cartoons have been pretty awful, that said. Once Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Spectacular Spider-Man got cancelled, we just have gotten crap.

I don't know if I'm being naive here, but I truly, genuinely hope that Into The Spider-Verse is a game changer for the industry. For both comic book TV animations and movie comic book animations.

That wasn't made by Marvel's cartoon division though. Granted, they're getting a massive overhaul there in that division. But still, I have to see it improve before I care at all.

So the close of the deal isn't delayed?

Its possible that internally Iger may have missed a projected close date but we really dont know. Officially its always been first half of 2019 and before June. So I'm not sure where Bloomberg got the idea that he had his pay cut because he missed the close date. Seems like speculation on their part. As far as we know the latest projections are mid march.

I know. That's why I said I hope it's a game changer for the industry. I mean, Into The Spider-Verse got an Oscar for best animation.

I just hope they open their eyes to the potential they have in the animation department (both in movies and TV).

That's just my hope.

WSJ reveals the reason behind iger pay cut.

It's really not fair to judge him at this point. Not only is this acquisition at the point where it's all cost and no benefit yet, but Disney has also been investing a lot in their theme parks (with the new Star Wars areas and others).

Iger clearly has a long-term perspective and 5 years from now we'll have a better idea of how well the decisions he's making now will or won't work.

But cutting his compensation now, when everything is all about the future, seems kind of short-sighted and unfair.

I think I'll celebrate by... hmmm... maybe burning my X-Men 2 and 3 posters and whatever other merchandise like DVDs I was foolish enough to buy.

It's so crazy to think it could all be finished this week!

I'm ****ing hyped to see the X-Men and F4 return to the MCU, but also a little nervous. I think they made some unnecessary changes to Spider-Man in the MCU in an effort to keep the IP fresh and new compared to the other films. There are some aspects of these characters that really don't need any alterations. I want a very comics accurate X-Men and F4 this time. I'm just nervous they're going to make unnecessary changes to differentiate the MCU versions from the previous films.

Just keep in mind there is a chance the 10 day closing period may not include weekends. If its 10 buisness days that would put closing around March 12-15. So dont freak out if we dont hear anything on Friday.

So we'll probably be getting more infos about the future of FF in the MCU very soon.

For the X-Men, unfortunately, they'll have to wait for the goddamn Dark Phoenix to be released.

Unless for whatever reason they decide not to reboot and just tack on a post credit scene at the end. It would be the quick and dirty way to bring the x-men into the MCU. Honestly I wouldnt even be mad. If it meant we got more Fassbender and McAvoy. Rather than waiting 3 more years for a reboot and have to see everyone's origins story done again.FF are the ones who need a hard reboot more so than the X-Men.

I want a hard reboot of the X-Men since there's zero chance the Fox-versions can be retroactively made to be part of the MCU. The timeline wouldn't fit. I adore Fassebender and McAvoy but there are plenty of talented actors that can play the roles as well, if not better than those two.

As a certain Darth Vader-wannabe who committed patricide to his scruffy nerfherder dad one time said, "Bury the past. Kill it if you have to."

Disney won't just bury the Singer-Kinberg verse. They will Kill it. That means no one gets out not-recasted

Well except a certain Merc-With-A-Mouth former Green Lantern that is.

In the FOX-Universe there isn't Wolverine anymore, because the character died and the actor retired from the character. Wolverine in the MCU is already a huge reason why Disney will reboot the X-Men. There's also the 2 Quicksilvers. The messy timeline and continuity errors. And as great and Fassbender's Eric and McAvoy's Charles can be, there are many other characters that should be developed and explored.

The X-Men will be reboot in Feige's own terms in the MCU. And, IMO, that should be celebrated.
