The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 24

I want a hard reboot of the X-Men since there's zero chance the Fox-versions can be retroactively made to be part of the MCU. The timeline wouldn't fit. I adore Fassebender and McAvoy but there are plenty of talented actors that play the roles as well, if not better than two two.

As a certain Darth Vader-wannabe who committed patricide to his scruffy nerfherder dad one time said, "Bury the past. Kill it if you have to."

Disney won't just bury the Singer-Kinberg verse. They will Kill it. That means no one gets out not-recasted

Well except a certain Merc-With-A-Mouth former Green Lantern that is.
Dark.

But I agree

I'm ****ing hyped to see the X-Men and F4 return to the MCU, but also a little nervous. I think they made some unnecessary changes to Spider-Man in the MCU in an effort to keep the IP fresh and new compared to the other films. There are some aspects of these characters that really don't need any alterations. I want a very comics accurate X-Men and F4 this time. I'm just nervous they're going to make unnecessary changes to differentiate the MCU versions from the previous films.
With X-Men just doing the majority of the characters well and putting a bigger chunk of the budget into their respective power sets will itself feel very fresh. The only X-Man who has had enough exposure where they might want to do something different to stay fresh is Wolverine. Xavier should be the visionary but he doesn’t need to be present on the field. And Magneto and Mystique can be great characters but with much less time onscreen over multiple films to make room for new villains. The ways to make X-Men fresh should be positive changes for most people.

In the FOX-Universe there isn't Wolverine anymore, because the character died and the actor retired from the character. Wolverine in the MCU is already a huge reason why Disney will reboot the X-Men. There's also the 2 Quicksilvers. The messy timeline and continuity errors. And as great and Fassbender's Eric and McAvoy's Charles can be, there are many other characters that should be developed and explored.

The X-Men will be reboot in Feige's own terms in the MCU. And, IMO, that should be celebrated.
This is the chance to take X-Men and put them in a different (Avengers-sized) bracket. I’m sure the suits will be wanting that, and rebooting is the only way you can achieve that by making audiences thinking that they are seeing something genuinely very different.

I just realized something.... anyone remember who Skye said trained her in cyberskills in AoS? two names, one seen, one that sent a shiver up my spine... Micro, seen in Punisher....

Marvel Studios Will Reportedly Recast All The X-Men Except Deadpool

No surprise here. But apparently Marvel want an X-Men in their mid 20s to early 30s. All known actors

And according to Alexandra Shipp, they're not recasting Storm either. :p

I don't believe this website. Especially because nobody else seems to be reporting their "exclusive news"

I feel kinda bad for Alexandra but yeah, she's definitely getting the boot too.

In any case, I don't want to discredit this site just yet. I don't know their track record but surely they wouldn't be coming out with all of these scoops if they didn't feel confident.

I guess we'll see. So far:

- Deadpool will be in the MCU
- Silver Surfer origin story in development
- Ultimate Fantastic Four adaptation that will take place in space
- X-Men in their mid 20s-early 30s.

That's what we know so far about Marvel's possible plans

Sherlock Holmes 3 got delayed to 2021 could it be because RDJ has to film spider-man 3 in 2020?

I doubt the 2 are related. Fact is Sherlock Holmes 3 has been in development hell for a while

Boys and girls, that's not all!

Norman Osborn And Annihilus Said To Be The MCU's Next Big Villains

Marvel Said To Be Planning R-Rated Blade Movie With Wesley Snipes

More scoops!

Alexandra Shippwreck can go.

I CANNOT WAIT to see her twitter meltdown once Disney casts their Storm.

I am bored with Norman personally. I would like to see the current homecoming trilogy wrap up with the sinister six and Doc Ock. Put Norman in Ant-Man 3 for a first appearance and use him in Thunderbolts before tossing him into a 4th Spider-Man I say.

But I expect him to get pushed sooner than that.

Osborn lines up with with the Dark Avengers rumour which we know they have a script for.

I wonder what plans they have for Annihilus to warrant an entire phase

I think the Norman Osborne / Annihilus story is highly questionable. Even if we take the optimistic view that Sony has worked out a deal with Marvel, would that deal include Norman Osborne? Wouldn't Sony want him for their own universe?

And even if we assume there is a deal, how rock-solid would that deal have to be for Marvel to plan a phase around him? Presumably any deal would have contingency clauses that would allow the deal to be terminated under certain conditions, so it would be foolish for Marvel to make big plans around a character with strings attached when they have so many other great characters that they currently have or will have very soon all to themselves.

I think the problem with Annihilus for a whole phase is that he isn't really interesting enough. He's not a person you can really relate to, but more of an armoured insectisoid creature. He'd work for a movie, but I don't think for a whole phase. Someone like Dr Doom is far more interesting and warrants a phase.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Annihilus as a character that is completely devoid of human emotions or a moral code. That sort of villain, if done right, could make the hair on the back of viewer's necks stand up. By comparison, Ultron, Thanos and even Galactus are more bound by senses of "honor" and their version of right and wrong.

But yeah, that kind of character could be great in a film or maybe a couple films, but I can't see building a whole phase around him.

I also think, after the whole Infinity Stones story a Cosmic Control Rod story (which might be presumed with Annihilus) might feel too familiar.

I think Marvel missed the boat by not letting Michael Keaton play Norman. He would have absolutely nailed it.

Their only casting mistake I’d say.

That's what I was thinking. Infinity Stones. Cosmic rod. It would feel like just another Macguffin and a retread. I don't mind him being the villain of an FF movie and maybe even clashing with the Avengers too, like this:

They can even throw in Super Adaptoid as well. But I think it should give way to something bigger and more interesting.
