Because even after fixing a timeline they still found a way to screw it up lol
Something to add: I completely forgot this movie is set in the 90s. It didn't have a scene that sets that up, like what Captain Marvel did with Blockbuster. To that I ask why this movie is set in the 90s? Why not just set it in the 80s again so I don't question why no one has aged in a decade.
Just going back to Venom success vs failure. wouldnt it be better if it was a success then sony would feel confident moving forward without spiderman?
I found the DP trailer to be a giant Meh. The fact that Fox did the same story again makes it not worth watching, even if it's better than X3.
It was all so painfully familiar. There wasn't a single thing in that trailer we haven't already seen. It's absolutely baffling that Fox chose this route. They must really think X-Men fans are idiots who will pay to see anything.
I don't think the trailer is a dumpster fire. But it also isn't amazing either. I think the word I am looking for is....okay
It's important to keep in perspective how little movie rights matter to the people making these deals, I doubt they're even aware comcast holds those right. Specially for something like Hulk (whose already in the films) and Namor who is far more on the obscure side the priority for that in the eye of anyone outside of Marvel Entertainment is dirt low. I bet if you asked anyone involved in the deal "what about Namor?" they'd have no idea what you're talking about. So how can Disney get back those rights now, if ever? You'd think that Marvel would want those back. Did it not even cross their minds?
Before, when the battle for who would own Fox was going on, Comcast said that they would've sold off certain assets to Disney, including part of the film division. Maybe they will still be willing to sell off things like the Universal theme park rights and Hulk and Namor. What need to they have for them?
And there's nothing about Dreamworks distribution rights at all?
Did Fox act too hastily?
The trailer looks like a remake of X-Men: The Last Stand.
Exactly. And there are so many X-Men stories that have yet to be told; Mutant Massacre, Mister Sinister & the Marauders, X-Tinction Agenda, Genosha, Onslaught, etc., that Fox could have chosen instead of remaking X3 because TLS was a terrible movie. Plus Jean Grey appears to have a split personality again, just like in X3, instead of a cosmic entity from the comics. Why not make it more faithful to the source material if they really want to make a better DP Saga the second time?
It's like a remake, but more (Simon Kinberg's favorite word) grounded.
It we had really seen something different, some really cool visuals etc., I might think I was wrong about Kinberg, but this looked every bit as bad as I expected.
He's going to take as many X-Men tropes as he can, shove them into a dull pointless film and hope there are enough people still out there who will see anything with "X" in the title to make back the small budget.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and take a wild guess at the story: In the beginning of the film, Charles and Erik will be on the outs. But in the second act, both of them will reluctantly agree that the threat is so great they need to work together. But in the third act, we will find out (gasp) Erik has his own plan.

That trailer looks like it confirms the leaked description that...
Mystique bites the dust judging from the shot of Beast holding what appears to be Raven’s presumably lifeless body.
Agreed, it looks like a very, very watered down version of the comic story as I expected. And Kinberg patting himself in the back saying he kept the cosmic elements of the story. The minimal effort of getting the X-Men out into low Earth orbit is supposed to be groundbreaking? It's like a remake, but more (Simon Kinberg's favorite word) grounded.

You're missing one crucial piece -- to save the day, Beast will confess his love for Mystique, intending to sacrifice himself for the greater good, but Mystique will incapacitate him somehow to sacrifice herself - thus ensuring that Mystique goes out the hero of the entire revamped X-Men series of films.
Guys, the Venom review embargo lifts at 3:00 a.m. on the day of release, LMAO.
