What Gambit film is there to even delay until 2020? Are they going to be talking about Fant4stic 2's? delay as well?

Have there ever been films that have shown a trailer but then fail to actually come out in theatres? By June, the Disney/Fox acquisition should be completed by then.

Hmm. I wonder how extensive these Dark Phoenix reshoots really are?

That will give them enough time to now put together a movie that vaguely resembles what's in the trailer. :o

Honestly, it really doesn’t feel like this movie is ever going to come out in theaters.

Hopefully it won't. Maybe the trailer was simply released to counter the leaked version that came out days ago, but they never intended to actually show it now. But it's odd that, just after showing it, the release date is pushed back.

On another note, does Kinberg even know that Disney bought Fox, or is he still under the impression that everything is continuing as normal and that he'll be working on Fant4stic 2 and Gambit in the future? Maybe he's even planning a sequel to Dark Phoenix?

So... the Skrulls will debut in Captain Marvel!

Isn't June 7 just very shortly after Infinity War? Why would Disney allow DP to be released then?

Won't Disney fully own Fox by June? Why release it at all? And if they're going to release it in theatres, why not dump it sometime in August? Isn't Spider-Man only a month after DP's release date?

Judging by the reddit spoilers that the trailer certainly validated, the aliens in Dark Phoenix
are not even named as Skrulls

On another note, yikes the optics are just not good for Dark Phoenix with this second push back. I've never had confidence in this and they certainly don't help to ease the concerns, the trailer was highly underwhelming.

May 24: Disney's Aladdin
May 31: Godzilla: King of the Monsters
June 7: The Secret Life of Pets 2
June 7: Dark Phoenix
June: 14: Men in Black spin-off
June 21: Toy Story 4

Good luck, Dark Phoenix.

These two sentences really sum it up for me. The visuals are just so dull. And the costumes, while finally colorful, look really goofy and clunky to me - like they were designed for a high-school play or something. And Cerebro, I'm so freakin' sick of Cerebro.

After AOA, X-Men really needed something different to reinvigorate it, but it seems like Fox and Kinberg are just trying to see if people will pay to see the same images, themes, characters all over again.

The effort just seems cynical and insulting to fans.
The new uniforms look fan-film esque to me. This might seem sacrilegious, but the X-Men actually looked sleeker and cooler in the black leather in X2.

They had the right idea with adapting the Jim Lee designs for the ending of Apocalypse, I don't know why they didn't follow through with that in this one. But then again they have a tendency to not follow through the endings of their films. Remember when Magneto was recruiting a Brotherhood at the end of FC? Where did that go? Remember the firebird at the end of X2? We never got that in TLS. Remember Mystique saving Wolverine at the end of DOFP? Whatever happened with that?

And I agree with you that Kinberg is shamelessly serving up the same tropes from previous films, and I'm not here for it. Xavier and his half sister having disagreements, Xavier and Magneto on opposing sides, a big Cerebro sequence, etc.

I have such mixed feelings about this. On one hand, this is hilariously unexpected (or maybe expected, knowing Fox) that they delay it again (is this more delays than New Mutants now) a day after the trailer, but on the other hand, this is almost definitely further delaying the X-Men coming home. And the new release date is a day after my birthday.... :(

Disney doesnt own Fox yet. This is just buisness as usual. My guess is this delay isnt for the films benefit but rather Fox and its employees. The movie basically exists so the Fox employees have something to do.

If the movie came out in Feb it would have meant a lot of employees would have had 3 or 4 months of doing nothing as they wait for the disney deal to close and they basically get paid for doing nothing.

It buys the employees time basically once its done a lot of these employees will probably get let go.

If Dark Phoenix is under Disney by then, why would they release it only a couple of weeks after Aladdin and a couple of weeks before Toy Story 4?

It's not like they think they have such a strong product that they can have it compete against the Secret Life of Pets 2 and then be undercut by MIB or potentially still pushed aside by Godzilla.

This isn't exactly Infinity War that they're dropping right in the middle of these as if to throw down the gauntlet and let everyone else run for cover.

They probably won't release it... and if it did... it probably go into Disney's own streaming service.

Yep. There is no hype for this movie. It's DOA.

8M views on YouTube in 2 days.

If this isn't some sort of plan by Fox then some are going to be packing their stuff from their work desks sooner than they had anticipated.

Like I said in the Dark Phoenix fprum. I find it funny we may have three versions of Deadpool 2 in one year.

Though if it were up to me I would just film a series of unconnected or barely connected Deadpool sketches and release that as a film/comedy sketch show in the theatre. The sketches for both DP films are great in and of themselves. I would watch a weekly show of that.

Looks to me like someone is making sure there is enough time for the deal to close in order to allow Disney to put out this dumpster fire pretending to be an X-Men movie.

I can see it already, publicly acting all insulted and hurt, saying the fans were robbed, while secretly being relieved that it will be buried somewhere deeper than Cormans F4.

I can understand that and agree. But then why did Fox even bother to release that trailer? And with the Feb 14 release date still? Either don't release the trailer, or remove that date.

It seems like Fox reacted to the leaks online. They should've just ignored it. Since this was already headed to the dumpster, it doesn't matter whether people call a turd a turd.

Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Venom: Rolling dumpster fires.
