It’s just that we want a team movie now. Those other movies were good but they didn’t focus on the Xmen. It was wolverine, magneto, professor X and mystique the movie. They are cool characters but we just want to see the other xmen ultilized more and not just standing in the background and show off two seconds of powers
If we get that from the MCU X-Men it is going to feel amazing after all these years.

I think Venom's success helps Sony, but they still have to put some thought into where they want to go.

Venom is a popular, well-known character. People wanted to see a Venom movie and they were willing to ignore bad reviews.

But that only goes so far. Morbius and Kraven aren't even close to Venom in terms of having that audience ready to spend money.

And now that people have seen the Venom film (and many, many Spider-man films) Sony won't have that easy buck next time around. They're going to have to work for it. It is possible to build something with the characters they have, but Venom was more of an easy cash-grab than a solid foundation for the future.

If they believe dumb comic-book fans will show up for anything they do, quality be damned, they're in for a rude awakening in the coming years.

Kraven has potential due to name recognition amongst the general audience like Venom. You could also do a cool storyline with Kraven hunting Venom. but Morbius is gonna flop hard. Unless Leto can sell the movie to his army of fans. I don't see it doing well.

Kraven is not nearly as popular as venom. No one would want to see a hunter just hunt things and taking Spider-Man out and replacing venom would be lame

I don’t see it doing well either. And when it doesn’t, we’re all going to need Sony to do what they do best. Be reactionary- by cancelling this whole trainwreck.

Eh... you’re definitely reaching there. There’s really nothing to Tom Holland wishing happy birthday to a fictional iconic entertainment icon. It doesn’t signal anything other Holland respecting the legacy of the mouse.

What’s next?

Will Gal Gadot be paying respects to Bugs Bunny’s 80th birthday in time for WW1984?
Will Ryan Reynolds be wishing Stewie Griffin a happy 20th anniversary next year?
Will John Krasinski be singing “Jolly Good Fellow” to Popeye for his 100th birthday next year?
Will Jordan Peele be planning something for Woody Woodpecker’s 80th birthday in 2020?
Will Tom Hardy be... wait.

You forget that Morbius is also a vampire of sorts, so damn near every teenage girl will also probably go and see it lol.

Neither Kraven nor Morbius have name recognition. Those are movies that have to be sold on premise and execution.

Agreed. I also imagine those will have budgets lower than Venom's $100 mil reported budget.

True that Disney's leverage over Sony has fallen with the success of Venom. I still hold out hope that there can be a deal reached that allows for right-sharing between the two companies, i.e. Sony can use Spider-Man (but not Tom Holland) and Marvel can keep using Tom Holland. Otherwise the only way we get them all fully under one roof is Disney acquiring Sony, which is highly unlikely (at least within the next decade).

I'm a big fan of the Fox acquisition, even beyond the X-Men properties because there is some stuff that Fox does very well. Disney is great at doing well on established IP, but have been lacking in launching new franchises (e.g. John Carter, Tomorrowland) and one-off genre films (e.g. Nutcracker, Wrinkle In Time). Fox seems to be able to do that better and will add much needed fresh thinking and creativity to a Disney machine that has been increasingly IP-centric and reliant.

Disney acquiring Sony I would say isn't unlikely in the next decade, it is unlikely period. I don't see them approving Disney buying a 2nd one of the biggest film studios out there. That would be heavily challenged by monopoly laws. Especially once this FOX deal is done.

They will if they cater to the Twilight fans lol

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if that's the angle they went for lol think about it those angsty teenage fantasy dramas have pretty big built in audience. I miss the good old days of the Lost Boys when vampire's weren't the good guys :funny:
