I am not trying to compete with those shows, honestly. Even the MCU often times doesn't. Was Iron Man 2 or Thor: The Dark World one of the best films of the year? No, they were just decent movies. When we get a season on that level, it's a bonus. But expecting Westworld with every season I think is off. Even the MCU movies don't hit that relative mark with movies every year. I would agree they land there more often, but all I ask is the show is enjoyable.

Iron Man 2 and Thor Dark World are exceptions, but generally speaking, of my ten favorite films in a given year, whichever Marvel films came out that year would be up there. Of my 10 favorite TV shows of 2018, 2017, 2016 etc. I don't think I'd put any Marvel shows in there (unless you count Legion).

It may be a high bar, but I think they should strive for it. They may not achieve it, but they should try.

And that means killing things like Inhumans, Iron Fist etc. at the script stage.

Even if these shows don't always hit the mark, I feel the effort behind them. Iron Fist S1 seemed more generic and may be an exception, but I felt for all the errors and such other seasons may have had, the creators believed in their visions and cared about the product. I say that even about Luke Cage season 1, which I hated.

Inhumans should not have been made, I agree. But that is hardly on Netflix, lol.

In 2015, was Fant4stic up there in your top 10 list? That was a Marvel movie.

Said it before, but he'll win a Thalberg one day.

It might mean nothing but apparently Universal Studios theme park are renaming their hulk roller coaster into the wicked roller coaster.

Now I wonder why they would do that

Even though I don't want a daredevil movie, I don't get the argument that Daredevil can't work on the big screen. Punisher I agree with, but Daredevil can totally work in the mcu and it doesn't even have to be r-rated. daredevil is not even that dark. take away the few nudity we got and the curse words and i see it working in the mcu. I'm sorry nudity and curses doesn't magically make any movie or show better, the writing and execution does.
I do believe we will get r-rate films in the mcu. They can just release them through fox.

Interesting. Is there any comment from them on the name-change?

Daredevil doesn't really have nudity in it. But it does deal in shadier criminal activity, such as Matt going after sex traffickers. Which is very in line with the comics. I am not saying Daredevil CAN'T work, but it is about how you maximize a character to their full potential. I don't think Daredevil is at his full potential where the tone is more akin to something like Homecoming. Daredevil has always been more popular when dealing with darker topics or storylines, and if the MCU has no intention of going there in the films, then his better home is TV where that can be explored.

I dunno. Swashbuckling superhero Matty M is great as well, and in some ways I prefer that version over Frank Miller's. I would like to see that version in the MCU after the Netflix Defenders version has hung up his togs.

Miller's Dark Knight Batman is great as well, but two of my favorite Batman flicks are the Adam West/Burt Ward/Julie Newmar animated revivals of the 60s TV show. It doesn't diminish Cox's DD in any way if a future cinematic version of his character goes in a different direction.

I have nostalgia for Adam West, but mostly in a so bad its good kind of way. They make me laugh at it more than anything else. When I want actual quality Batman, that's not where I go. Daredevil I see the same way. Daredevil didn't really become what he is now until Frank Miller, even though he existed long before. Before that, it was garbage like Matt tricking people he is not Daredevil by being his also blind twin brother Mike. It wasn't good. I feel similarly about X-Men. Giant-Size X-Men #1 is where it really started for me. I went back in Essential volumes years ago and read many of the early issues. They sort of suck.

That's actually how it was intended. William Dozier (the producer) hated comics so the only way he could tolerate making the show was to make it deliberately bad for comedic effect. Such is the essence of camp humor.

I get that, but that goes back to my core point of while entertaining in one way, I cannot look at the Adam West era and say "now THIS is Batman!"

I do think the Adam West show was true to the Silver age era of Batman comics which was more lighthearted and more goofy.

It's not even that Daredevil has to be swashbuckling, he can still be a relatively serious character and fit within the MCU.
Daredevil_v01_JN.jpg

T'Challa, Vision, Wanda pre-Ragnarok Thor and Banner etc. It just doesnt have to be gritty and dark like Frank Miller. And after Dardevil is cancelled, it will be time for him to go where he belongs. In the MCU with Spider-Man and Captain America. With Daredevil also comes Elektra, The Hand and Bullseye as well. All will be great additions to the MCU

In my opinion, Daredevil simply works better on television. There’s nothing to be gained for having the character in the movies other than higher production values. While it would be nice to have Daredevil and Spider-Man interact I’d still much rather have a quality television show that can do the character justice fully.

So the Hashtag show claims that the 2020 slate will be Black Widow in May and Eternals in November. I don't buy this for a few reasons.

1. Personally don't think Black Widow is popular enough for the May date. At least for her first movie. Even Guardians didn't get the May date for their first movie. It wasn't until the first movie proved itself at the box office did the sequel get the big May slot. I see Black Widow similar to Guardians 1 in a lot ways. Better suited for a mid to late summer August release like Guardians. November could work to.

2. Doctor Strange 2 -The absence of Doctor Strange 2 in the hashtag show's slate is a red flag in itself. Marvel are not waiting till 2021 5 years after his first solo movie to get a sequel the only reason this is happening with Guardians 3 is cause of the James Gunn situation. Uk news sources have been hearing for a while that Strange 2 is gearing up for a spring 2019 production start. This lines up with Benedict Wong saying filming could begin by years end. Before Infinity War came out I heard that his movie could get bumped forward or back depending the response to Dr Strange in Infinity War. Id say the response has been overwhelmingly positive and the fact that filming is looking to begin in spring 2019 instead of fall 2019 indicates to me the film has been moved up from its original November 2020 date due to the GOTG3 delay.

3. I know a source personally who has done VFX work on a couple of marvel films. And they told me not to expect Eternals to Spring 2021 at the earliest.Even though they only just announced Chloe Zhao as director back in September. My source did say it is possible that she had already been working on the film well before the announcement But even then November 2020 would be pushing it. They would have have to start no later than Fall 2019. However we only found out about Eternals as a phase 4 film back in March which mean's its only in the last 12 months they've only really gotten serious about it. That means more people are working on it so more stuff is leaking. So Id say early 2021 is likely. Unless. In 2020 we get Doctor Strange 2, Black Widow and Eternals. But I think its highly likely that 2020 will be back to 2 films. Unless Eternals is further along than we know.

For one, higher production value allows Marvel to fully realize the character. We will never see Daredevil leaping from building to building or swinging from his Billy club because the budget isn't there for it. I'm just saying that Daredevil is one of Marvel's most iconic characters and it would be nice to have a Daredevil in the wider MCU. I'm hopeful after the cancellation of Luke Cage and Iron Fist that all of those heroes will he be rebooted and folded into actual MCU

OK, here we go, 3 quick questions, answers direct from Kevin Feige's mouth
1) AVENGERS 4 trailer "before the end of the year"
2) Namor COULD make an appearance, still deciding IF & when
3) GUARDIANS 3 status "on hold"

They know they're getting The Four soon, so they want Namor now more than ever.

Hope it happens!

1.Good but expected
2.Great!! Didn't realize that was a possibility
3. but also expected.

Not having Cox cameo in Civil War as Murdock was a missed opportunity. Should have been a lawyer trying to get Cap out of sticky situation.

Oh man, if only. The first thing Marvel should do if they ever get the rights back from Universal would be to fast track a Hulk movie.
