There are a number of questions about this longtime foe of Captain America that I've never heard answered conclusively( full disclosure: I'm working on a portrait of him right now).
First of all why do we never see him without his mask( NB unlike Dr Doom he isn't known to be horribly disfigured so there is no reason to keep him wearing it-nor unlike Dreadknight it isn't microsurgicially attached to his face). Secondly, how does he eat or at the very least shave -one presumes he takes it off to eat, shave/bath or sleep? True, he may keep it on to prevent any knowledge of his true visage becoming known to SHIELD, the FBI or any number of Western intellligence agencies( one presumes that he is still being officially sought as a WWII war criminal-although this is unlikely in 2007 when most of his ilk have died of old age) a prudent precaution in an era of built in digital cameras to mobile phones.
Just asking...
Anybody think as I do?

Right now, the Skull is inside of General Lukin's mind. So, when the Skull is in control of Lukin, he wears a removeable mask.

Didn't the mask somehow bond to his face before his previous body died, too?

I think so. There were some flashback scenes in the Crossbones/Sin issues (around #14-16, I think) that showed the Skull without his mask, looking extremely old and frail.
