I said this in a thread in The Dark Knight Sequel Spoilers, where they were all talking about the possibility of a gang inspired by the joker in the next movie.

I brought up the issue of the red triangle gang in batman returns. I think it would have been so cool if it was mentioned that they were inspired by the joker.

it would have made much more sense, since they were dressed as clowns

True....I actually never got this, were they the remnants of the circus that penguin was in when he was young?

Remember the scene in the Batcave when Bruce is researching the history of the Red triangle circus gang? One of the attractions in their freak show was an aquatic bird boy. Obviously the Penguin.

The newspaper articles also mentioned children going missing in every place the Red triangle circus performed in.

also, this plot would have brought some much needed continuity between Batman and Batman Returns

thats what i felt was the biggest problem with Returns :csad:

I love the Red Triangle gang, brilliant idea. Very Batman. They weren't from the comics but could well have been.

We never really got their entire motive, what are they just penguin's henchmen? I mean what did they get out of being his lackies.

Given that they stayed in costume all the time, I thought they were a bunch of psychos who liked working for an evil freak.

Only one of them voiced an objection to killing little children, and Penguin sorted him out.

Well that I got, but were the Red Triangle that circus, or were they just henchmen hired by Penguin? Thanks for the help anyway :)

They were that circus as far as I know. Bruce was listing out various members of the circus which were part of the gang, like the poodle lady.

I love that scene.

Either way they were there to make The Penguin look good and cause a hell of alot of frenzy and destruction in Gotham, and they did it very well!!

i read a long time ago that the reason they never talked about the joker was because in was in jack nic's contract that if they did he would get paid as well as a cut of profits from the toys from the 89 movie.

He wouldn't get a cut of profits just for the Joker to be mentioned.

you gotta admit though. Jack is smart for wanting a cut of the profits for the merchandice. He knew it was gonna be a big movie.

I love his story about how he was betting on it at the Academy Awards that year. Haha, gotta love Jack.

Haha, really? I never heard that. Thats funny.

He mentions it in the documentary on the Batman '89 SE DVD.

gotta go back and see that then. BTW, do you have the SE returns dvd?i dont have it ,but someone told me there another catwoman design on there, do you think you(or anyone for that matter) can post a pic of it please?

I have the whole anthology on DVD. I'll watch it and see if I can take a screencap.

I have the special edition, but I can't remember ever seeing an alternate catwoman design on there. In fact the only thing I can even remember them saying about the development of the costume is where they got the inspiration from.
