Looks cool. Discuss.

..It cant be worse than the last time Hush returned :o

Upon seeing the thread title, I said "Oh ****. :down".

Then, I saw Dini was involved and I said "Sweet.".

Then, I read it ties into Morrison's arc and I said "Oh ****. :down" again.

Then you saw Dustin Nguyen involved?

It doesn't matter what pointless Batman crossover Dini is involved in, he makes it as badass as he can with the limitations he's dealt. The entire Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul was pointless, but the epilogue where Batman totally pwns Ra's

and imprisons him in Arkham

was more badass than the entire arc itself. In one single issue, Dini accomplished what Morrison couldn't--make an awesome self contained Batman story in less than 25 pages.

Dini's definitely had some ups and downs through his tenure on Detective. Some are obviously the fault of the writer, but some of the artists he's worked with just flat out sucked. With Nguyen, he gets to finally work with a stable (he plans to stay for 20+ issues) and sexy artist.

I trust Dini, but even if this 5 issue run does suck (which I doubt) it'll still be a joy to look at--just like Loeb's Hush :wow:. Nguyen's art is the only absolute guarantee.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the character. He was written terribly by Leiberman, but so was the Joker (he made him train killer pigeons, wtf) so should we kill him off too? There are no bad characters, just bad writers/artists. Dini may be able to make Hush really good again. And even if he isnt, the guys only appeared in 3 arcs, it's not like they're oversaturating the market or something.

yay finally an issue of detective that doesn't have scarface, or Zatanna in it.

^ yeah it's nice isn't it. And I'm hoping Poison Ivy on that recent Nguyen cover wasn't all for nothing either

Hush was great in his first appearance, I don't care what anyone says. Yeah, b**ch about who it turned out to be all you want, but no one saw that coming. It was just like the purloined letter refference that Loeb was going for. Everyone had crazy theories like Jason Todd and Azrael, when it was staring us right in the face the whole time. And he has a cool look, he did bad ass stuff, and was well written, with all his quotes from classic literature. That's the Hush I want to see back, not the "garh, I am a super villain crime boss!" Lieberman piece of trash.

ROLF,no. I know at least 10 people (not including me) who guessed it right from the beginning. Hush was generic. TOtally generic. Like all of Loeb's work.

Yes, everyone on here guessed it too. Then immediatly said "no, there's now way they'd do that..." and threw out crazy guesses. There was a poll here on the hype when the storyline was going along and Elliot only had about 10 votes. And while I'll definetily give you that Loeb has gone completely mad since the Supergirl arc of Batman/Superman, his older stuff, like TLH and DV were great. And while Hush wasn't on the same level as those, it was still very good.

EDIT: Here's another fun fact- We still don't know for sure if Tommy was Hush. The Gotham Knights arc is no longer in continuity it would seem, and we never once saw him out of the bandages. Sure, he threw out some things that Tommy would have known, but that and the lack of a corpse is the only evidence we have towards Hush being Tommy Elliot.

I really liked those issues--some of Dini's best. I wouldn't mind a break though.

Ivy on that Nguyen cover was just part of a villains pin-up. In fact, it was a failed cover concept. DC never actually used it. Sorry...

Maybe Ivy will be back in the near future. I know Nguyen draws her HOT.

i knew it throughout the arc, seriously. especially the first issue was so badly written - there is a new villian, and all of a sudden someone of bruce's past comes back into his life, right now? come on!

but even if we don't know if he is really tommy, i have to say that i don't care anymore who he is and why he does what he does. hush is imo an unbelievable generic character who was pourly written by loeb, who used to be one of my all time favorites.

i just hope dini kills the character off already, i'm absolutely not interested in seeing more of him.

Yeah, just kill the character, instead of you know, writing him and making him interesting. As I said, there are no bad characters, just bad writers. And even if you feel he was poorly written by Loeb, it doesnt mean that another writer could come on and do great things with him.

It's really hard to believe that Nguyen was the same guy who illustrated As the Crow Flies. He drew a lot like Eduardo Risso back then--not that it wasn't good (it was), it just didn't stand out to me.

I'm just wondering how all of this stuff ties into the Batman R.I.P storyline, it really doesnt fit in at all.
