It's really happening and all signs point to it. Marlon Wayans will play Pryor in the film which is set to open next year. As a longtime fan of the one and only king of comedy(debate-able, sure), I have mixed feelings about this project and it points to one source, Wayans in the title role. Sure, Eddie Murphy was all but confirmed to play the role for some time, which would've given Murphy all the credibility he's lost in his career, but Eddie being Eddie had to be an idiot and p*** it all away. As for Wayans, it certainly hasn't helped that he's done, willingly, some of the dumbest comedies in the last decade with his brother, Shawn. To say that Marlon's got something to prove, here, is an understatement, but he has done drama, before in "Requiem For A Dream" and he is naturally funny. I'll be a little more at ease once I see footage of him playing Pryor on screen.
