I was thinking that the Riddler should have OCD. That he can't help but leave a Riddle at his crimes. I don't think he should want to, I think that he should not be able to help it. I also think he should have a god-complex, someone who thinks he is smarter than everybody else and he has to prove it through his puzzles. I absolutely hated Jim Carrey's version, he was too much like the Joker. I think Nolan's version should be similar to the one in the "The Batman" without the Marilyn Manson thing. I think he should be dark and brooding, not campy at all, and I absolutely love the OCD idea that I have read in some comics, namely "THE REMARKABLE RUSE OF THE RIDDLER". Damn, I haven't read that comic in about a decade but I always loved the idea. What I can't figure out would be his former profession before he became the Riddler.

Amusing, but pointless...

Joking, just totally different than BF please. But I think that Riddler shouldn't be Riddler yet. The character Nygma yes, but Riddler as the third villain for Nolan's vision of Batman 3.

I really dont care, Riddler has always been one of my least favorite villains.
That said I dont want him to be a dark evil villain, he needs to be eccentric, not to the point of Jim Carrey, but he needs to be up beat and always able to outsmart Batman

Oh, my bad, wrong forum? I guess with all the rumors about AMH being Riddler......I don't know, maybe Jim Carrey is the one that turned me off to Riddler being upbeat. I want him to be a psychopath, one of those *******s who always has to prove he is better than everybody else and who gains power in humiliating others. I can't imagine somebody with that kind of persona being upbeat.

The Riddler should be extremely intelligent and clever, egocentric, obsessive complusive (and not just about his riddles), and relatively quiet.

Suppose AMH isn't playing Nigma...

Who would you have play him in Nolan's series?

edward norton that guy is a chameleon :o

I'd like to see him basically criminally insane and feels the need to leave Riddles. He HAS to leave them because he wants to prove how intelligent he is...I also want him to be mysterious...and much like the joker, I want him to be a bit of a show-boat.

I think Will Arnett and Yorgo Constantine are my first two choices for the role.

yes, wrong forum. the rumors about AMH being Riddler are unfounded. one of the perpetrators of the rumor admitted as much.

(in my opinion) The riddler should be a very VERY small time villain. He doesnt plan heists or big "destroy the city" plots. He would be a mix of the killer from Saw or kind of like Vincent D'Nofrio from the cell. Except socially and physically he would be a total weakling. Picture Robin Williams from One Hour Photo. Just a creepy yet unassuming kind of pathetic person who excerts his power over others by way of his superior intelligence.

He is a typical serial killer except with a twist. The Riddle compulsion is part of his psychosis. For example he would kidnap someone, put them in a room thats slowly filling with water, and leave some kind of sick riddle for Batman and the Police on where they can find the person before its too late. He isnt blood thirsty or crazed. In fact, i think it would be neat if he deep down doesnt even WANT the person to die, but in his messed up way of thinking he isnt responsible, its the police who couldnt figure out the riddle in time. I think that Riddler could totally work on his own for a 3rd Batman movie. Not AMH though, he's not right. I'd also like to see him possibly being hired/coerced into service by other villains like he was in TLH. Riddler could be a totally realistic and engaging villain that would have the audience on the edge of their seat. No question marks all over the place, no silly green suit or domino mask just a really twisted psycho ala Se7en for instance.

I'm on the same page, maybe not very small time, but a secondary villain on the level of scarecrow. He's key to the plot but not the emphasis of the story.

If reality comes into the play and his use of riddles, then the best way to portray him is as a Thomas Harris type serial killer except not as physically grotesque.

Small time shmall time. Riddler is a rising villian always one step below A-list. Nolan can make him A-list.

I don't even see the riddle-crimes playing a part in this movie. I could see him being the kind of character he is in "The Long Halloween", a "problem-solver" for the mob. Maybe not so much of a loser though. I thought somebody made a nice comparison earlier when they said he could be like Mr. Wolf from "Pulp Fiction".

Nolan can make him A-list but probably won't. One of The Dark Knights' influences is The Long Halloween. If Riddler is in this film im putting money that he is going to be like he is in The Long Halloween. Wimpy, in a bar getting pushed around for answers. Just that when he gives the answers there in the form of riddles.

A little of both, I suppose. In essence, I think he works best as a slightly more restrained rogue in the mould of some of those that oppose The Flash. The Riddler should not be a "psycho" per se. Batman faces enough Jokers, Dents, Zsaszs and Sionii. Nygma and Cobblepot should offer something different.

I wouldn't mind seeing Batman and/or the mob going to see The Riddler for answers. But I'd like him to have a bit more wit about him than in "The Long Halloween", I don't want him to be a total wimp.

I'd like to see a moment that somewhat resembles this dynamic:

I agree here. When people talk about how Riddler should be a serial killer, it just doesn't feel right. Riddler strikes me as old-school, where he gets much more pleasure in outsmarting his foes than killing them.

In fact, I seem to remember a comic (don't know what it was) where The Riddler was watching a news bulletin disapprovingly, and said something like "What is this world coming too? The Joker's out there killing people, for God's sakes!"

One awesome idea that came up was have Riddler as a good guy/bad guy type mole. Have him work as a private detective investigating crimes at Wayne Enterprises that he is actually causing as the Riddler. Kinda like Matt Damon in The Departed.

I agree, just was saying a possible outcome in my last post. Hopefully he isn't the wimpy doormat like in TLH.

He took my advice about theatricallity a bit... literally. Why? we say that he's a chameleon and guess what: he's playing a green thing soon!

I hope his colours don't change that often :o

Not all the villians can be A-list tough guys, we need a few wimps to balance it out

I think that the Riddler should once again leave riddles for BatMan solve, but more intelligently. So far the best Riddler I've seen portrayed was from TAS because 1.) he wasn't crazy like Jim Carrey's version, 2.) he wore believable clothes, not like the green and purple spandex from the Adam West era and 3.) he actually was a logical and smart ass guy. I would be satisfied if Riddler was based around the TAS version just to get that down-to-earth essance version that we fans have been waiting for.

P.S. And if possible, my choice for Riddler would be Hugh Laurie and Vernon Field would be given to AMH.:woot:
