TRY YOUR HAND AT ROLE PLAYING

Hello, and welcome to the new and improved "Rise Of Marvels": Year One RPG! This game is similar to The "Heroes Vs. Villains" Marvel RPG. However, this one follows a different, non-established continuity, similar (but not in unison) to Marvel's Ultimate line, where the players can re-invent and re-establish each character at his/her career peak, with most characters beginning their careers right after their origins.

- - -

RULES
  • Players can choose any Marvel Comic character they wish. Since there is no established continuity for this universe, some liberties can be taken. However, We ask that you at least try and stay true to the character's basics. (IE: Captain America's a patriot, Daredevil is blind, The X-Men are mutants, ect.) Don't make him or her completely 100% different from his/her's 616 Marvel counterpart.
  • This is in a new continuity. Meaning, this does not tie into the continuity of Ultimate, 2099, or 616 Marvel Comics. (IE: Galactus hasn't invaded, The Avengers aren't formed yet, ect.) So don't play as if any of that has already happen. This is a NEW universe.
  • The Gamemasters reserve the right to deny any application for a character who is unnessecary, at this point in continuity. (IE: Venom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, ect.) If you're denied for this reason, please do not hesitate to try for another character. There's literally thousands of opprotunities just waiting to be met!
  • No Killing. Unnamed faceless NPC's (*Non Player Characters) are okay, but not comic characters. Someone else may want to take up the character, or they may be imporant to another story.
  • You can go anywhere on earth, or travel off planet, but do so within your character's means.
  • Only one character will be given per person, for this season. First come, first serve.
  • You are your character, so act like it. Talk like them, use their dialogue. Do not exaggerate their powers or abilities, or pop-up here and there without explaination.
  • Several stories can be going at once, and you have the freedom to interact with other characters.
  • Borrowing elements from other mediums aside from the comic books is to be kept to a minimum. But a direct adaptation is prohibited. This RPG is about creativity... Try to your own ideas above all else. (If you're stuck creatively, ask the gamemasters for advice)
  • If your character is closely related to another player's character (Example: Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man, Kingpin and Daredevil, Doctor Doom and Reed Richards), it is strongly suggested that you PM the other player about your plans, so they can plan accordingly.
  • No Time Travel. (Unless someone is playing a character who needs that.)
  • You must post every two weeks, though it is preferred that you post more. If you go two weeks without a post without prior notice, your character is be up for grabs.
  • Violation of any of these rules will result in strict warning, or removal, by Master Bruce.
  • All regular Hype rules also apply.
  • Most importantly, have fun.

GUIDELINES ARE A KEY PART OF OUR SOCIETY

For those unaware of the stipulations of this particular universe, here are some quick facts for you to know:
  • Decades ago, President Richard Nixon passed a bill in the United States that required all mutant citizens to be registered with the goverment. Those who opposed the bill would be arrested and put into captivity until a cure for mutation could be found.
  • A result of this was the popular coining of the terms "Pre-Mutant" and "Post-Mutant". Pre-Mutants, described by Charles Xavier, one of the bill's strongest opposers turned allies, are mutants of which were born with the X-Factor gene, thus destined to manifest abilities and mutations at some point in life. While Post-Mutants, such as the widely known Vietnam solider Steven Rogers, are mutants who recieved their powers through artificial means, such as radiation or scientific experimentation.
  • Due to this classification, many Post-Mutants have gone to congress to try and fight the bill's continued use. Those unregistered with the goverment, particularly vigilantes, are often publically opposed. But those who register and work for them, even going as far to live public lives, seem to become instant celebrities with humanity.
  • In the 1980's, Charles Xavier's Academy For Gifted Youngsters was founded in Whestchester, New York. This safehouse for mutants was designed to give a home to those unregistered with the goverment. Though many politicians have criticized this, Xavier has fought back, seeing that mutants have recieved unnatural hatred over the years. As of yet, the academy remains untouched by goverment officials.

Character You Would Like To Play: Moon Knight Marc Spector, Jake Lockley, Steven Grant

Powers:He is an excellentathlete and combatant, he has enhanced strength derived from the phases of the moon (like a werewolf), he appears to have a resistance to some psychics.

History:Marc Spector was a U.S. Marine. He fought with honor, valor, and courage. Each of his troops respected and revered him as a true fighter. One day, he was approached by a U.S. official. The man told Spector they wanted him to be a guinea pig in their latest experiments. At first, Spector declined, saying he was needed on the battle field than in a lab. But, the man persuaded Spector with promises of fame and fortune if the experiment was a success. Marc was he was going to be a part of a new experiment trying to duplicate Captain America’s procedure he had undergone fifty years before
Inside the lab, the chemists and scientists started their tests. They strapped Spector down and hooked him up to various machines and drips. Everything appeared to be going well. The experiment seemed to be a success. Spector’s body went to peak potential, his agility increased, and his skills seemed to also become enhanced. Days after the experiment, while Spector was undergoing a physical examination, Marc started to exhibit strange characteristics. His pulse increased at moments when he was calm, and slowed during physical activity. Marc also started to respond to questions and tests in an aggressive fashion.

During a psychological examination, Marc was getting temperamental again. Without provocation, Marc viciously attacked the examiner and wound up snapping his neck. Marc was put into solitary as more tests were performed. Days later, the scientists discovered Marc’s experiment had degenerated. He had lost some of his enhancements, and with it, some of his sanity.

Over the next few days, the scientists monitored him and discovered something odd. Marc began calling himself Steven. His calm personality had dissolved at this point, and he had become aggressive all the time. The scientists declared the experiment a failure and were ready to terminate their subject.

During a transfer, the scientists asked Marc who he was. Surprisingly, he answered Marc Spector, but they did not want to take chances. They drugged him, and began moving him into the next room where he would breathe his last. As he was between rooms, Marc suddenly awoke. He lashed out, grabbing a pen from one of the men’s pockets, and stabbing a guard in the throat. One of the scientists said to him, “Marc, calm down!” Marc replied, “Oh, Marc is sleeping. Unfortunately for you, Steven is awake!” Marc stabbed the man and killed the entourage of people transferring him. Marc escaped from the facility and soon made it to a close by town. In the town, he fell asleep and awoke the next day as Marc Spector.

He found himself in a cheap motel, his clothes new and clean. He looked around the room, trying to understand what had happened. In one of the drawers, Marc found bloodied and tattered clothes. Marc looked up into a mirror, and suddenly realized what had happened. He saw his other self, Steven Grant, it called itself. Steven explained the incident to Marc, telling him of what he, what they did. Marc felt great remorse, saddened by the innocent men he slaughtered.

Marc realized the government would be after him, but Steven explained to him that the government’s experiment never really existed.

Steven told Marc to look in the second drawer of the dresser. Marc opened it, and found a file labeled TOP SECRET. Marc read the file, and discovered the horrible truth. His name and identity had been compromised, erased from the planet. Had project Moon Night, named for its secretive nature, been a success, Marc would have become the new Captain America, under the name U.S. Agent 1. But the documents also explained had Marc become a liability, he would be terminated.

Marc fell to the floor, his body experiencing an anxiety attack. Steven, the stronger aggressive side, told Marc to get up and get control. His life had been erased. Marc Spector was gone. Instead, he had a new clean slate. Marc agreed with his other half, and decided to start a new life as Jake Lockley, Taxi driver in New York City.

When Jake arrived in New York, he soon found months later his job was not earning him the money he needed. As the months passed and the bills piled up, Jake began falling into a hole. Suddenly, one day, the bills disappeared, and he dug himself out of his increasing debt. For reasons unexplained, Jake had bested life’s hardest of fates.

A few months after Jake’s salvation, he was rearranging wiring in his apartment. After lifting a few roof plates, he came across a strange metal box. Inside, he found a white costume, full with spiked metal knuckles and an array of other assorted weapons. On the chest of this costume was a symbol, a crescent. Jake went to the mirror, and suddenly he realized something. Steven was the owner of the costume. After hours of intense arguing, Jake finally got Steven to reveal the truth. He had become Moon Knight, hired gun, mercenary. That’s how the bills and rent had been paid. Jake understood he had let his life and mind slip, letting his other half take over. Jake finally realized he was at war. At war with himself. Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, two beings living in one body, both fighting for control. Jake realized that if he let things go on, Steven could take over for good, and put Jake away in the dark corners of his mind, just as he thought Steven was. Jake took control of his mind, forcing Steven back into seclusion. Jake decided that he would use this once symbol of fear and greed by Steven, to be a weapon of justice and redemption. Jake decided to become Moon Knight, vigilante and hero, in hopes of gaining salvation from his murders and wrong doings.

In only two years, Marc Spector, former U.S. Marine had disappeared and become three separate entities. Jake Lockley, New York taxi driver, Steven Grant, ruthless mercenary, and Moon Knight, symbol of justice and vengeance. Now, Moon Knight roams the streets, helping the weak and defenseless, and punishing those who would exploit these people, hoping that the same deeds done to him would never be done to another. Jake still struggles internally with his other self, restraining him as best as he can. He still sees Steven at times, sometimes as if he were a separate person standing with him. Jake fights injustice, and for control of his life. Moon Knight has become a symbol both men want to use, one for good, one for greed. The never ending battle within continues every day, and though Jake rules the mind for now, one man cannot stay in control forever.

Pre-Mutant, Post-Mutant, or Other? (Beings unpowered or of cosmic origin): Post Mutant

1. As my origin tells, I want to redefine the character, while sticking to the same story we all know and revere.

2. Moon Knight is a favorite of mine. I have followed him in his first appearances, to his comics in the 90s, to his recent series. He is a different and awesome character. He is one of those guys that could have a comic separated from the universe, and still be popular.

3. Schizophrenia? Yeah. I’m in.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I think my origin shows my plans. I want to fuse Ultimate Moon Knight and 616 Moon Knight into one being, both with similarities and differences that brings a whole new light to his being.

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I can bring my outlook on characters, the senses of honor, valor, evil, triumph, and internal struggle. I also feel that I can bring my love of “gray characters to this RPG, making Moon Knight into a character you want to feel both compassion and hatred for.

What Fonts Do You Plan to Use for Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better):
Moon Knight will be bold Franklin Gothic Medium
Jake Lockley will be dark blue Arial narrow
Steven Grant will be dark red Arial Narrow

Please Provide A Small Sample Post In The Format You Wish To Portray Your Character In:

Jake Lockley wakes up in his twelfth floor apartment on Manhattan Island. The sun comes through his tattered and broken venetian blinds hanging haphazardly over his window. He sits up right, yawning and stretching his arms wide. He feels a pain in his shoulder, and looks to the source. He sees a deep puncture, healed and treated with care.

"Rough night.” He says with another yawn. Suddenly, Jake hears a noise in the kitchen. He jumps up from the bed with agility that could match an Olympic gymnast, and lands stealthily on his feet. Rushing through the door into his small kitchen, he sees himself sitting in the chair eating a bowl of cereal. The doppelganger looks up from his bowl, and smiles to Jake, swallowing the chewed food down his throat.

"Hey, Jake. Last night was a blast.”

“What the hell are you doing here?”

“Me? Come on. I told you I’m not gone. I’m never gone, buddy.” He picks up his spoon and shovels another load of store brand oats into his mouth. He chews in silence, and soon swallows the food. “I mean, I still have to repay you for all you did for me.”

“Steven, you aren’t real.”

“Oh, brilliant assumption, Freud.” Steven says in anger, getting up from the table. “Tell me this. If I am not here, how can you see me?”

"An allusion of my mind. Brought on by stress.”

“What is this, a ****ing Christmas Carol? Lighten up, Scrooge. I’m not leaving you any time soon. I pulled your sorry ass out of that lab and gave you a second chance. Or did you forget that night, Marc?”

“Marc is gone! He left when you split him in two you sadistic bastard!”

"Oh, Jake. There goes that temper. And you know what happens when you get a temper.” Jake’s angered sneer quickly fades to a look of shock, and then shame. Steven smiles as Jake turns around and begins to walk out of the room. “What’s a matter, Jake? Where you going?”

“Away from you.” He mutters. Jake walks into the bathroom and turns on the faucet to the sink. He looks down as he fills his hands filled with warm water, creating a pool in his hands. He splashes the water onto his face, sending droplets into the air. He grabs a towel from the rack and gently dries his face. Looking up to the mirror above the sink, he is met with a horrible and haunting sight.

“You can’t get away from me, Jake.” Steven says, acting as a perverted reflection of Jake’s image. “I AM you.” He says with a sinister grin. “And I am not going anywhere.”

'RISE OF MARVELS' RPG Application

Screenname: Eddie Brock Jr.

Character You Would Like To Play: Steve Rogers/Captain America

Powers: Decelerated aging; peak human physical potential; superhuman reflexes; increased endurance; nearly 20/5 vision (approximately that of a hawk); heightened sense of geometry; trained martial artist.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Steve Rogers was 19 when he enlisted for the Vietnam War. Unlike so many of his peers, Steve was willing to go off to war. He loved the idea of fighting for democracy. Recognizing Steve's faith in America, the government enlisted him in a Top Secret research project. Steve Rogers was going to become part of the Super-Soldier Project.

Steve was the first (full) success of the Super-Soldier Project. After being injected with the serum, Steve was able to function at near-superhuman levels. Outfitting and equipping him patriotically, the Army shipped Steve over to Vietnam as Captain America. Cap became something of a legend amongst the men over there.

When Steve returned home, however, he was treated with the same disdain that all of the 'Nam vets received. Steve, especially, took this personally. After all the fighting for liberty he had done, Steve could not believe how ungrateful the American public was. The show of disrespect towards veterans made Steve lose faith in his country. He moved away from it all to live on his own.

Pre-Mutant, Post-Mutant, or Other?: Post-Mutant

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. In today's world, a Captain America figure seems impossible. America is past the glory days of 'fighting the good fight.' Now, everything seems to be morally gray. This Steve recognizes that, and he no longer blindly follows whatever the government says. Quite the opposite, really, as Steve is an open critic of the 'War on Terror.'

2. I have some plans for the Avengers. Obviously, people playing Avengers can do their own thing, but I would like them to hear me out. My vision of the Avengers is a more international government task force - like the Ultimates, only grittier (if you can picture that).

3. Captain America will bridge the gap between human and Post-Mutant. He's better than the best human, and he can hold his own against some of the greatest superhumans. In a way, that is the American spirit, isn't it?

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): This Captain America is more bitter and cynical. His treatment after 'Nam - combined with his perception of the US government - has jaded his view on life. SHIELD knows that if he turns against them, he is a dangerous foe. However, Cap would never turn against America - no matter how hopeless he feels. Part of him can never abandon that.

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I would like to think that I am a dependable, creative writer. I have many ideas for Captain America, and I would like to see them come to life right before my eyes.

What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better): Bold Navy Times New Roman

Please Provide A Small Sample Post In The Format You Wish To Portray Your Character In:

A black sedan pulls up outside Ted's Bar and Rest Stop. It's a quaint Midwestern establishment, and the locals aren't used to seeing such an official-looking car. The sedan has government plates, and an American flag flies proudly from the antennae. Ted, who is cleaning mugs with a dishtowel, looks up from his work to see the visitor.

A middle-aged African-American man enters through the door. He's wearing an eye patch and a fancy black suit. He approaches Ted calmly and asks, "Do you know a Steve Rogers?"

Ted nods silently. "Yeh, I know Steve," Ted replies indifferently. He doesn't stop cleaning with the dishtowel. "He lives in a small cabin up in the forest. Who's asking?"

The man smiles. "I'm just an old friend of Steve's from the War," he explains. "I haven't seen him in damn near thirty years, and I was hoping to find him."

"Well, you're in the right place. Just follow the road up the forest until you reach the cabin. Shouldn't be hard to find."

The man nods and smiles again. "Thanks for the help."

And with that, he leaves Ted's Bar and Rest Stop and gets back into his sedan. As he pulls away, red dust is kicked up by the tires. Ted just shakes his head and returns to his work.

The man follows Ted's instructions, and within fifteen minutes, he comes across the cabin. He parks about fifty yards away from the porch. As he walks up to the front door, he examines the exterior of Steve's home. An old pick-up truck is parked in the driveway, and a tattered American flag flies from the house.

"There's still hope," the man remarks to himself.

"I don't know how you found me, Nick, but I don't like being tracked."

Nick smiles at his old friend. "It wasn't easy, Steve."

Steve emerges from inside his house. "Explain what you're doing here...or leave. I don't take kindly to trespassing."

"We need to talk, Steve."

'RISE OF MARVELS' RPG Application

Screenname: Master Bruce

Character You Would Like To Play: Daredevil

Powers: Blinded at youth during the same period of the metahuman outbreak, Matt Murdock suffered a bizarre internal transformation that heightened his remaining four senses of touch, taste, smell, and hearing. At first unable to cope with his new blindness, Murdock soon trained his focused senses to act on a new level of sight, eventually building up a mental art that turned his combined senses into a sixth sense of radar, allowing him to remain constantly aware of the world around him. Daredevil is also a trained athelete and street fighter, adapting the styles of tae-kwon do and the blind methods of jujitsu to form his own custom style, intergrating his senses into his nightly battle.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Raised on the slums of New York City's Harlem neighorhood, the sanction dubbed 'Hell's Kitchen', Matt Murdock was born into a devine catholic faith that would shape his morality for years to come. Living with his father as a boy, and never knowing his biological mother, Matt looked to Jack Murdock as an idol, and the surpreme embodiment that even the underdogs had a chance to make a difference. This became a more personal motto for Matt when, in trying to save the life of an elderly man crossing the street, Matt was hit with a highly toxic isotope in the cornial nerves. Operated on for three weeks following the accident, Matt's doctor's were able to rid his system of the toxin, but could not prevent the damage to his nerves. Eventually, they had to announce a startling revealation: The boy would never see again. Devastated, Jack Murdock took personal responibility for his son's blindness. But Matt had an entirely different problem, as he began recovering... he was hearing and smelling things that shouldn't be there.

As Jack trained for the New York Federation League boxing championships, Matt went to work on trying to learn brail, and work his way around his newfound world of darkness. But as his frustration grew, so did his determination. He wasn't giving up, just like his dad never did. Eventually, Matt was able to conquer his blindess through his newly heightened senses, re-teaching himself how to walk, move, and generally function in the world, without the aide of his sight. As Matt became all the more skilled, Jack Murdock faced hard times. The ring that he regularly fought at had been taken over by a gang of corrupt buisnessmen, led by Gene 'The Fixer' Sweeney. Sweeney, also taking ownership of Murdock's contract, urged the fighter to throw a fight to their new talent. When Jack refused, Sweeney warned that Jack was getting himself into more trouble than he was worth. Even with that in mind, Jack managed to reject the offer. That decision would only become a mistake when it was too late, as a week later, after a prize fight between Jack 'The Daredevil' Murdock and Mark 'Titan' Johnson, Jack was horribly beaten to death by a gang of musclemen under Sweeney's hire. The then teenage Matt vowed revenge, and managed to get Sweeney to trial for the murder. But when the courts failed to prosecute, Matt was outraged, realizing that the law could only go so far against criminals like The Fixer. There had to be another way.

With his father dead, and his home seized after piling bills, Matt was left to fend for himself on the streets. This became particularly hard, as a blind kid, but Matt managed to fend off the nessecary bullies and muggers at every chance he got, using one of his grandfather's old canes, chopped in half to make for makeshift escrima sticks. It was during this time that Matt came across an old blind street warrior, simply named 'Stick'. Taking Matt in as his protege, Stick taught Matt how to use his senses for the better, and to his advantage, teaching Matt various fighting styles and acrobatics. But the most valuble lesson that Stick taught him was to be without fear; a man who would live fearlessly, and to the absolute limit. Matt took this to heart, as Stick introduced him to another one of his pupils: Elektra Nachios, the daughter of a greek mafia crime boss. The two fell in love, and dated for awhile, even attending Empire State University together. This is also where Matt met a fellow law student in Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson, who would go onto befriend Matt and become his roommate. But this blissful new life would end shortly, as Matt would learn that The Fixer was setting up shop once again.

Consumed with the prospect of taking him in, Matt eventually isolated Elektra, and broke things off with her, causing the heartbroken young woman to flee the country in a state of rage. But even that did little to take Matt's focus off of eliminating Sweeney's gang, as he tried to study every possible angle in his collection of law books to get Sweeney retried. There were none. Enraged, Matt eventually decided that he had to take matters into his own hands. Journeying back to the old gym of which his father fought, and died in, Matt revisited the skills that made him a man without fear. It was here that he discovered his true calling, and with the aide of a few favors, Matt had fashioned the identity he needed in order to save Hell's Kitchen from those who tried to escape the grip of the law.

Using the motif of a ghost of his own father, Matt Murdock became The Daredevil.

Pre-Mutant, Post-Mutant, Or Other? (Beings unpowered or of cosmic origin): Post-Mutant

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. Daredevil is my second favorite Marvel character, very close to becoming the first.

2. I have an idea for what I'd do with the character's beginnings, even going so far as to provide origins for his costumes, weapons, law firm, and some of his major enemies like The Kingpin and Purple Man.

3. Having played him for awhile in both the 616 and Ultimate RPG's, I feel as though I have a pretty good grasp of the character.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Well, for one, I don't ever intend to introduce the yellow tunic. :oldrazz:

In all seriousness, I plan to make him more of a steet-level hero than he is in 616, emphasizing his status as a 'Guardian Devil' more bluntly. Hell's Kitchen will be portrayed as a neighborhood lost in time, where lawlessness and violence are the absolute norm, causing a decay and a steady rise in poverty that leaves the neighborhood essentially a haven for criminals and homeless. Under the grip of crimebosses like The Kingpin and The Fixer, aswell as assassins like Echo and Bullseye, Daredevil will be all but forced to strike at the criminal element hard, and relentlessly, truly fighting with the fury of a devil.

Aside from a few tidbits here and there, however, I don't plan to change much about him. It would be a crime to be unfaithful to the core of the character.

My name's Matt Murdock. I'm a lawyer.

Well, I hope to be, at least. I've got the nessecary degrees, and plenty of people at Empire State would be glad to vouch for me or my law partner, Foggy. But I've refused to set up my own firm, as of yet. It's not logical, despite Foggy's protests, to really put yourself out into a world like that until you've gained the right amount of experience. And god knows, neither of us have it.

Let me backtrack, for a minute. A degree in law was something I wasn't really looking to recieve, when I was a boy. I would've rather turned out to be like my dad: strong, cunning, moral, and fearless. Everything I hoped to be, that man was. And he never managed to make himself out to be as such. A champion prizefighter six times over, Jack 'The Daredevil' Murdock impressed few, but inspired many. He wasn't the greatest fighter in the world... he knew that, and so did everyone else. But he never threw in the towel. He never gave up. He never quit, despite what anyone told him. And that's what made him a legend.

His death is just what made him an example.

For years, I've been fighting a war within myself. And just like my dad, I've never known when to give up. Guess that's why it's always been a losing war. Despite the fact that I haven't been able to see since I was ten, I've persued justice for that prize fighter who lost it out to a couple of hitmen on that dark, dim alleyway on a stormy summer's night. It's a fight I've been losing ever since. The men who put the hit out on my father managed to shy away from prosecution a very long time ago. It's considered a cold case. More dead than half of the people that they've intimidated and put into hiding.

Tonight, I plan to make those same people answer for their crimes against both Jack Murdock, and the people of Hell's Kitchen. Because when the justice system fails... I'm going to be there. I'm going to seek the justice that these people deserve. Starting with my father. Ending with God knows who or what.

The costume, and weapons have all been properly tested. Now it's just a matter of putting them to use. With a snap of my club, and the jerk of my line, I leap into the night. The air is sweet and soft, like velvet. The piercing silence is grand. And the sight of it all isn't even there. I don't need it.

Somewhere in Hell's Kitchen, justice awaits.

My name's Matt Murdock. I'm a lawyer. I also go by another name, now.

Here comes Daredevil.

To young Peter Parker, it seemed as if the rain was not only coming from above, but every other direction he could imagine. He jumped a bit as thunder boomed outside and hit a tower about a mile away.
All the other kids giggled at his sudden act of cowardice. Peter merely brushed it off and pushed up his glasses.
Peter stopped near Liz Allen's seat.

"Umm... " he replied sheepishly.

"Ca-can I... Sit here...?"

Before Liz had the chance to say "No", Flash Thompson approached and practically did the job for her.

"'Scuse me, Puny-Parker," Flash replied as he grabbed Pete by the face and gentely, but quite firmly, shoved him away.

"Seat's taken."

Flash, Liz, and the others chuckled.
Peter simply sighed and moved to the back of the bus where, apparantly, he belonged.

Someday, they'll be sorry... Sorry they laughed at ME...

Peter's thoughts echoed in his mind as the school bus sped off towards his destiny.

By the by, here's a rough idea of what I wanted for the Avengers:

(Each Avenger represents a different country/part of the world.)

Captain America: The United States

Iron Man: The United States (with strong European descent - Italian? Greek?)

Thor: Eastern Europe/Asgard

Black Widow: Russia

Ant-Man: Australia

Black Panther: Wakanda

I keep feeling like it needs someone more - especially an Asian hero. I thought about Wasp, but having her and Hank Pym on the same line-up seems redundant to me. Again, this is only a suggestion, and I won't force anyone to follow through with it. But if you're looking for a jumping point with one of these characters, perhaps you can look over this.

Sorry, man, I hate to do this... but I saw that technically, Nowufacedoom applied for Wade first:

Can someone do me a huge favour? I'm going to bed, but the OOC thread will probably go while I'm asleep and I don't wanna lose my chance at playing Wade.

So, could someone put up this App for me??

RISE OF MARVELS' RPG Application
Screenname: Nowufacedoom

Character You Would Like To Play: Wade Winfred Wilson

Powers: Teleportation granted by his mutant X-Gene. That is all from the point I’m starting at.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Wade Wilson was diagnosed with psychosis at an early age after beating a fellow pupil to death with a wooden ruler in elementary school. He spent the entirety of his childhood and adolescence in a padded room, causing his mind to snap further. One thing the staff noticed about Wade was his paranoid delusions regarding the ‘4th Wall’ and an increasingly bizarre sense of humour. One thing they could never explain was his sporadic disappearances from his cell, A professor named Charles Xavier was consulted, revealing that the boy was a mutant, a teleporter to be precise. Xavier requested that the child go home with him but the asylum would not allow it, having bigger plans for the deranged Wade Wilson…

Pre-Mutant, Post-Mutant, Or Other? (Beings unpowered or of cosmic origin): Post-Mutant... I suppose, shouldn’t it be ‘Post Human’?

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:
1. My 2nd favourite character of all time.
2. I played him in the original DoM game and it’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had writing a character
3. I didn’t get to write his origin last time around. I plan to rectify that.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): As you can tell with what I’ve already said, the origin is rather different to his 616 or Ultimate counter-parts. I plan to take Wade from almost the very beginning. Oh… I also changed his middle name for no reason whatsoever…

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): An original and, hopefully, funny take on an already great character. Come on, I’m bringing Deadpool, what more do you need!?

What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better): Century Gothic, Orange Bold.

Please Provide A Small Sample Post In The Format You Wish To Portray Your Character In:

"The Dickinson Phillips Institution for the Mentally Unwell is the perfect summer retreat, a pool, a golf course, acres upon acres of green woods surrounding the main complex. The interior looks like what it is, a hospital, white wash walls, white floors, white overalls, the whole shebang. The food is good, the staff are sweet and the tenants are just delightful.”

"You’re being sarcastic?" Asked a young woman, wearing a lab coat and her hair in a bun, her glassed low on her nose. Wade Wilson’s eyes narrowed, his body wrapped in a straight jacket. The room around him suffocatingly small.

"How’d you guess?" He growled menacingly.

EDIT: He did technically post his app. first, but it was in the RPG App. thread. No one copied it into the OOC thread like he asked, and this is first come, first serve, right? Then I should get Deadpool. I'm just saying, if you make a rule, it should be followed by EVERYONE. No exceptions, even if he had the app. ready first. Just because he had to go to bed and no one posted his app for him doesn't mean I should lose out on the opportunity to play a character.

Character You Would Like To Play: Victor von Doom/ Dr. Doom
Powers: One of the world’s most intelligent men, has built himself a suit of armor that augments his strength, reflexes, and provides a vast array of built-in weapons and other technologies.
Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Victor was born and raised in the small nation of Latveria, a third-world socialist state in Eastern Europe. After the deaths of his parents, Victor fled the country and resided in Germany for a time. It was here that Victor’s uncanny intelligence gained a hold of the public eye. At a young age, Victor showed remarkable talent in the field of physics, robotics, and several other sciences. After being offered a scholarship to Empire State University, Victor moved to New York where he attended the renowned school with fellow prodigy, Reed Richards. The two came to know each other well and developed a friendly rivalry of sorts.
For reasons unknown, Doom became rather obsessed with creating a device that would enable interdimensional travel and began working on it in secret. Richards discovered Doom’s work and pointed out some of Doom’s miscalculations. Victor ignored Richards’s attempt to help and tried the device anyway. The resulting explosion caused massive damage to the campus and injured several people, including Victor himself. It is believed that his face was scarred in the accident, though the severity of the scarring is unknown as Doom vanished before being properly examined by doctors and before his expulsion could be carried out. Humiliated, Victor refuses to believe that the accident was his own doing and has brought himself to believe that Richards sabotaged it out of jealousy.
Victor’s whereabouts were unknown to the public for quite some time, although there had been several alleged sightings of him throughout Asia. Victor had in fact been traveling around Asia. He spent time training with monks in Tibet and began the design and construction of his greatest invention yet. Recently, there have been sightings of Doom throughout Europe and a persistent rumor that claims he will be returning to his homeland soon...

Pre-Mutant, Post-Mutant, Or Other? (Beings unpowered or of cosmic origin): Unpowered
Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:
1. He's one of my favorite Marvel villains.
2. I’ve been wanting to play him for a while.
3. He’s a villain that could be a threat to any & all heroes
What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I plan on keeping a lot of elements from 616 Doom as well as mixing in elements from several real-world dictators that we all love to hate.
Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I hope to bring a great villain into this RPG that can be used with just about any hero(es). Doom’s a wonderful character and I intend to play him well.
What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better): Impact, Dark Green
Please Provide A Small Sample Post In The Format You Wish To Portray Your Character In:My eyelids slowly parted. My vision was blurry. I was in a haze, unable to see, unable to think. I begin to feel aches and pains all over my body. What had happened? Where am I?
I close my eyes and try to think, try to remember. It becomes hard to focus with this pain, especially the burning sensation on my face. I move my hand up to feel it. It’s soft–feels like fabric. Bandages. I open my eyes again and look around. My vision is returning and I see now that I’m laying on a hospital bed. I start to remember now–the explosion! How did it happen? I was so precise in my calculations, it was impossible! Could I...could I have made a misake?
NO. Victor von Doom does not make mistakes. There must be another explanation for this. I try to think back to what I had done before starting the machine and a realization strikes me like a lightning bolt. There was only one other who know about what I had been building. Only one other even remotely intelligent enough to understand my work. Richards. That arrogant, petty fool! He did not want to see my work come to fruition! He did not want to admit that I was his superior! It was so obvious now. Richard sabotaged my machine. He wanted to see me fail, to see me die so that he can call himself the world’s greatest. I shall show him that none are greater than Doom and that none cross Doom with impunity!
I lift myself from the bed, trying my best to ignore the intense pain. I remove my gown and change into my street clothes. As exit the room, I remember my facial bandages and limp back inside and into the bathroom. Staring into the mirror, I slowly begin to remove the gauze bandages. I’m horrified by what stares back at me.

"Richards . . . what have you done to me?"

Ok... that is incredibly irritating.

Thanks for sticking by me MB.

Oh and nothing against your app SV25 but at least I'm trying to change his origin a little. I spent a long time re-imagining Wade and I'll be dammed if someone just comes along and plays 616 Wade in here just because I live in a different time-zone. :cmad:

Just to be official about it :

(Makes the roster look better):Century Gothic, Orange Bold.

Hey cool we have 2 villians now! :D

Ok... that is incredibly irritating.

I wouldn't really call it "sticking by you". He tried to make you an exception to the rules, which I thought was ridiculous. Now if he just said he knows you finished your app. and would want to see it before approving either one of us, I would've been ok about all of this. But instead, I was basically shot down all chances of playing the character because your app. was up in a different thread. I said I was gonna work on another app. today for a different character, and I'll still do that. But I'm still a little peeved about this entire situation.

Tip: This is a new continuity, try coming up with something different than 616 or Ultimate with your next character.
